  • FLUVAL 207 FILTER After 3 YEARS | Are Fluval Filters Good Value & Long Lasting? | 107 207 307 407
In this video I take a look at my 3 year old Fluval 207 canister filter. It has run almost continuously since I got it on both freshwater and saltwater. I have never had any issues with faults or even needed to replace nay of the seals or parts. I personaaly think the fluval 07 canister filters are very reliable and long lasting.

I've had a 406 running since Feb 2016. I've replaced the AquaStop Valve once or twice since, because it started to leak ever so slightly. I think I've change the impeller and the motor head gasket once. Not so, much because it needed it. But, more as preventative maintenance. Though I'm very diligent at applying silicone grease to the gasket, every time I open it up. Since the 07 series was released, I use the new foam screen media configuration. And I also bought 07 series media baskets with the red handle, so I can remove all the baskets at once. The 07 baskets are 100% compatible with the 06 filters. The Fluval 06/07 series filters are total work horses. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I needed another canister filter. But, at nearly 7 years of constant use, my 406 is showing no signs of slowing down or needing to be replaced.

I have 2x 206 and 2x306 since 2015/2016 respectively I never ever had to change anything on them. Just ordered 2x407 just so I can reduce amount of cleaning 4 vs 2 canisters but other then that these filters are just great.

I have the 207 on my quarantine tank. I check it, once a month. The bio-load in the tank is light. 2 damsels and a couple of inverts. It's problem free, and has been running non-stop for more than a year. Sparkling clear water

Yes there nice filters but there more of a mechanical than biological filter they let there self down as they down hold a lot of bio media compared to more others ones with full trays ect sunsun eheim ect but there ease of use is there plus point the ribbed hoses are crap as they collect tons a rubbish inside that hoses need cleaned each 4months or it'll cause bacteria n fungal issues in ur fish the eheim filters are the best filters you'll get cause there parts last longer on most models u can get any parts u need online at a reasonable price the filters are cheap to run silent reliable and will outlast any filter out there there filters seem to last at least ten year if looked after right

I have a 207 which I bought after my old filter decide to spring a leak. I have to say so far I have been really impressed. The only fault (if it is a fault) is every so often it blows air out. How it gets in there I have no idea. There are no leaks. I'm going to take up your advice about upgrading the media as it doesn't trap a great deal of detritus.

I bought the 06 series in 2014 and the removal lever started to become stiffer and difficult to remove the top. Then bought a 07 series in 2019 to replace it and it's going strong. Fluval addressed a few of the weakness of the 06 series and I agree that the red handle is very useful. I'm impressed you've been using saltwater and it's still going strong

I bought a 207 a few months ago for my 36 gallon Bow Front and it's running great, just bought a 407 for my 75 gallon, replaced my SunSun 305 after 5 years, although I may get a spray bar for the 407. I like the one I have in my bowfront.
I'm also planning on getting another 207 for the 20 gallon tank I set up for my mother back in December and ditching the Marineland Magnaflow 160 it's currently using, plus if I upgrade her tank to a 37 gallon I can use the same canister system.

Yes. You should have no problems connect it to the filter. However, you may have some issues connecting the hose to the Fluval supplied siphon tube and output nozzle/spray bar. I use Eheim installation kits (input and output) with my 406. I find it makes maintenance of the hoses and plumbing at/in the aquarium much easier.

I have this filter and the previous model. Everything you say about the build quality and longevity is correct. I have also brought filter floss like you in large packs. This is where I disagree slightly with you. I find the fluval pads far superior to other stuff. A pack of 3 from Maidenhead aquatics is £4.50. You can easily get a month out of one pad in an established aquarium. This sits on top of the black sponge you pulled out. This frees up a tray you are wasting. I also believe people waste to much on filter media. You can buy 10 litres of lava rock from Pro shrimp. This makes brilliant media. You can use the smaller bits to get more rocks into your media trays. No need to waste money on expensive brands or buying off well known CZcamsrs. Lava rock is very porous but you know that already. Going back to the floss. I have a Tidal 55 and I'm change the floss weekly in that. The fluval pads you should get 3 months out of a single pack.
