    Concerning the Fish and too many plants, this is 10 days of growth after cutting back the plants 12 inches. But it looks worse than it is. They have a whole area under those emersed plants, thats crypts and anubias . In the fromt It's all stem plants, they can swim through- but not well, so if you watch the whole thing i also said i trimmed the plants right after the filter cleaning.
    But the angels spawn in there, but with an area under the plants thats like a 10 gallon volume tunnel and then 2 free spots in the back corners too.

    The dirty water from the canister and filter pads are primo for my tropical plants and orchids and also save all my water change water for my plants. I never have to worry about using plant fertilizer and the problems of fertilizer burn and salt build up that can burn plants and hurt the soil ecology. Feed the soil that feeds the plants. Aquarium and plant keeping go hand and hand. I thank you for your video on this filter, I just got it! Love your channel, be well ❤️

    I have 2 of the 407's and they work well. I picked up at Home Depot a clear 7/8 in od and 5/8 in id hose to replace the crappy plastic ribbed hose, which people have complained about them (older series canister/ same hose though) eventually breaking down and leaking within sections of the ribs. But Series 7 is a rock-solid canister!

    I’ve been using a 406 on my 40b since I started the tank, it runs an in-line CO2 reactor with a recently added Fluval spray bar. There’s some new features on the 07, but generally the same as the 06. I love mine, it keeps on trucking.

    This video was enjoyable, even though I have absolutely no intention of getting a canister filter. (grin!). That tank is so beautiful! I don't use stem plants much, but yours are incredibly beautiful. I have swords, moss, anubias, crypts. hydrocotyle (spelling may be off on some of these) in my tank of 3+ years.. • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  Před 7 měsíci +1

      So get the little air pump and sponge filter and run it while you run the HOB filter for a week or two...or buy a prefilter sponge for the intake pipe on your filter....and run it for a week or two, then find an airstone thatll fot in the sponge piece and just turn off the HOB filter, using the sponge as a filter...and remove the HOB after 2 days or so of overlapping filtration. Good luck!

    I like them too. Everyone else LOVES them.
    BUT visually they seem to have much more water bypass than an Eheim or JBL. The by-pass occurs between the horizontal baskets and the filter wall.
    And I don't get the logic of the vertical pre-filter (How does the water get forced the length of the sponges? It does get dirty. But unlike my other filters--it never really gets clogged for me. It really should. The sponge doesn't get as gunky as they do in the other filters mentioned. I do use it in conjuction with a Juwel internal, so that may account for this.
    Another thing that make no sense to me is the supposed increased surface area of wavey sponges. The water easily flows through the sponges even when their surfaces are flat. The cut-away pieces that forn the undulations actually DECREASE surface area to my mind--as there's less sponge for the water to pass through.
