When I saw Korean GM I thought Solar finally submitted a complaint about nukes.
They threw him a bone, Patched in Increased Broodlord speed. XD
Gsl spolier
Solar won it
Thank god i am a terran and i dont have to fave nukes. I can't see that small dot myself

"This is cutting off the head of the snake when the rest of the snake is eating you."
(Wait, Harstem, that doesn't make any sense.)
"And the snake has five heads. And it can just regrow a head!"
(Nailed it!)
This wasn't an episode of IODIS, this was a Roast of Eternity
Because everyone knows that Koreans treat StarCraft like it's a damn sport so of course if a Korean is doing something like this claiming that there's an imbalance, they are going to be under an extreme level of microscope.
He was doing his best to prove to all of us that complain about Terran that Terran do not, in fact, have infinite scans.
They do have infinite scans. It just despite this fact, this terran was so bad, he somehow managed to use them all.
@@MultiChrisjb Sounds like a "Chuck Norris" joke x'D
I love how he was complaining about dts as terran. I would love to see them try zerg LOL.
Me sitting here watching Harstem explain how the triple CC and scouting the Stargate implies that the Hellion should have been a Tech Lab.
I keep that in mind next time I struggle to remember where to build my natural expansion.
Oh... because a faster Cyclone? (I haven't watched the video yet so maybe Harstem mentions why this is the case.)
@@notyou2353 Pretty much yes. It was series of complaints. First the Factory itself was late (not much, but late). Second it was dormant for a while (i think almost 20 seconds). Third - when terran player scouted Stargate, he should have expected Oracle and build tech lab -> cyclone to intercept it. Instead he built single Hellion and then started building tech lab just as the obvious Oracle hit his SCV´s.
27:07 This man is so gentle that he's attacking his own planetary to help enemy. What a legend.

This Is free coaching at the cost of being verbally destroyed
People can always submit to "How do I beat this" series instead of IODIS, where Harstem doesn't trash talk and give them the suck stamp at the end.
I feel like "what _are_ you getting quickly?" should be a litmus test before saying that you have a real build order XD
Scan ahead just to make sure the protoss knows you are about to attack
Not even the A.I would ever do this as Terran, even back in SC1 they would only use Scans the second something attacked in stealth, so even the A.I is better than this Korean and that's just sad that the A.I would perform better than you as the same race you're playing as.
Scanning ahead isn’t dumb. Its useful information to know if you actually can take the fight
Just because you scan doesn’t mean you have to fight. Since he wasn’t aggressive he doesn’t know what he is up against so I don’t mind it completely
The main issue is he was also fighting dts with no ravens while refusing to make extra orbitals to make up for it.
However if he was planning on spamming scans then at least add another orbital for energy
The issue is he spammed the scan button so yes I said it was good but not THAT MUCH
Just wanna say congratulations again captain on the engagement!!! Also your content is top tier!!
He engaged the enemy? On purpose?
@@reinux he got engaged to his girlfriend
@@darkzombie1234 Lol yeah I figured. It's actually a line from Winter's voice pack.
He did scan twice at 24:00. Maybe not the same spot but you could hear the scan sound
Probably something on top left corner of the map, there was a fight too
yeah he's scanning top left 5th base where he's getting attacked.
My man Eternity could have built a single raven to keep with his main army and probably would have stopped the DTs , but he seems addicted to bad scans.
Tempest would have made ravens tough to keep alive, but no excuse for the bad scans.
In this latest development, a new drug has hit the streets and it is wreaking havoc in communities nationwide. They call it badscans. More at 11.
I totally agree, 1-2 ravens would have saved a lot of scans, he could just keep it in the back and move it forward when the DT´s come or to use anti-armor missile against other units. He also was throwing scans left and right, even when he knew there where DT´s, he could havve built an air unit for vision if he doesn´t wanted the Raven, and built more than 1 turrent at his based when he knew there were DT´s, they always start attacking the turrent, he did try to counter later, but he still kept scanning.... Is it me or do I think the winner, not eternity sent in the replay and used all the right words to trigger Harstem? Anyone following him a little knows you don´t use words like perfect, no errors and flawless in the imba form. Maybe I´m just reading to much in it.

I think it's tracking the healthbar, you can see it move a bit then pop back when the SCV passes.
That's a regular planar track on the health bar. Still nice though.
this brings a whole new meaning to skill issue
Harstem I just got done watching PIG's "Terran: bronze to GM series" and he said to scan before you attack. This terran was just planning on attacking everywhere..eventually.
I've actually noticed Terrans do that a lot and it's started to give me a few seconds to move my units into position to make an area that would've been safe suddenly not safe.
There's gotta be a way to more secretly scout an area before attacking for Terrans that I'm too Zerg to know...
pig is not q good plqyer
@@notyou2353ultiple options actually. Invisible ghosts to scout, trying to harass with hellions/medivacs on a different base to force the enemy to move, scanning after sieging up tanks, so that the enemy moves into a meat grinder; scanning a base and moving in with a decoy army, just to attack on a different end of the map... plenty of ideas. Scanning just to move somewhere is only viable against zerg, and even then it's strictly to control creep spread, and the viability of this endeavor lies in the fact that zerg has map vision constantly anyway.
@@notyou2353 like sending a single marine stimmed half a screen forward of your army? xD

Best series on CZcams. Thanks Hasterm!
I love the side notes. Makes your commentary even better. 😂
Love this series. Please keep it going
Congrats on the engagement for you and future Mrs Harstem
You might look at this game and think that DTs are invisible. Actually though, it's Eternity's past trauma that DTs caused him that is invisible to the naked eye... Causing him to drop a scan on his army everytime he is engaged by a single zealot, and causing unstoppable twitches which make him scan random 4-5th bases through the lategame.
i love your editor. the time difference on the factory
Hamster missed an opportunity to turn the barcode into the "shame on you" meter

That sightseeing tour around Command Center at 9:30 is hilarious :)
Loved the reaction to the mule dropping in the middle of the fight.
I think that was literally a mis click on their behalf, and it was just something that you don't expect from a Korean aka "a professional StarCraft player"

BGMSS suggestions: DnD dice to determine building to build to determine build order
Wtf, this guy has 100k sub already. Good job boss
Thanks Harstem for this video, after watching such an incredible game, where 3-3 protoss literally had no chance to end the game against the 1-1 terran (which also delayed every single unit by 2-3 minutes). I am, the ML1 protoss with 40% wr in PvT, actually understood that terrans are completely broken. At this point I'm going to play 4 warp gates every single game, cause it seems way more reasonable than trying to win terran with macro build orders.
Terran is very OP in terms of survivability
Every race is completely broken if you think of it.
Protoss dominate GM, Zerg dominate top-level professional scene, Terrans dominates metal leagues. :)
@@jeffreywarf yea that race is godly at surviving which means you can more often win games that you should lose if you just switch into a defensive mindset.
@@andrewbeznosov8046 Zerg have 3 of the top 6 players, but apart from that Protoss are winning most of the pro scene - current tournament winrates show PvZ is 2% Protoss favored. PvT & TvZ have perfect 50% balance. Overall the game is the most balanced its ever been.

20:15 disappointed that Hamster didn't provide a visual illustration of a "mosquito nest"
Harstem: Hasterm? Eternity! you will burn in the Hell of Judgement for every mistake durring 5 minutes of gameplay ;-)
All I am thinking of is that there are no mosquito nests. Mosquitos lay their eggs into shallow warm static water and the mosquitos swim for a while before they develop wings and leave the water. Therefore using flares in the water would be even less effective!
Eternity, noone can look bad when you're around.
Ouch
Harsem can launch new series where he uses buildorder from submitted games to beat players on the ladder
Think how many minerals he could have gathered if he built a single Raven.
Just build a couple of ravens? Then probably Add in a few cloak banshees whilst the starport in on a tech lab, cause disrupters and DTs cant shoot up, and 2 banshees 1 shot probes, bypassing superbattery entirely.
Damn, the last time I was this early I had to apologise.
lmao
Nice video
I have a stupid question. I only play story, arcade, and co-op, so I'm not too familiar with how things work on the ladder. If detection is this big of an issue for this Terran, wouldn't it be more efficient, at least later in the game, to make some ravens to spot DTs near his army rather than relying on scans, which he clearly isn't too adept at using? Getting some good AA missile shots on a big Protoss army would probably also be helpful. I imagine they'd take some extra babysitting to keep them from being sniped by the tempests, but that shouldn't be a huge issue for a grand master.
Terran literally just needs a raven or 2 no?
Or like.. ghost. Ghost emp reveals dts and counters protoss as a race. Terran has so many counters to dts and he some how used none of them lol

@@eclipseeffigy probably more than that with how much this guy was spamming them. The only time it slowed down was when he ran out of energy.

just popping in to say I used to play in SC2 tournaments with Eternity so know the fella lol
Perfect entertainment for my evening - lets see how much the player sucks
It feels good to be this early :D
I feel like so many terrans would have better success on the ladder if every time they wanted to scan something, they got in the habit of sending a marine running there instead. So many more mules, so much more detection. and accidental map control and map awareness gained. A single unit running across the map is like 5 scans worth of vision...
Or, y'know... build a Raven, maybe. Surely that investment into a unit which provides constant detection would allow Orbitals to spend energy on MULEs instead of scans.
@@BrianRousseau as zerg overseers live like 70% of the time in a battle, just dont fly it ahead of your army and it should be fine. i get that overseers are cheaper than ravens, but in the stage where you’d be making ravens with the rest of your army it shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
4:55 part of me wonders if this was an attempt at bm or trolling in a way, like he didn't even need it, or killstealing his own bunker, some kind of weird flex like that
That complaint form was super redundant lmaooo
this is high level roast
does the raven just not exist at this point in time?
like scan 30 times instead of getting one unit the mules woulda paid for... am I missing something?
The bar should be at the level of mistakes the opponent makes. The idea is that you have to be better than your opponent and still lose.
i have to ask... did they remove the raven from the game or is it suddenly shit and/or does not detect invisible units anymore?
It's still in the game, but most people don't use them because they require a tech lab, which slows down medivac production, plus until the new community patch hits live servers, they're kind of pricey. Add on to that, lower level players tend to end up a-moving them into enemy armies, and hardly even anyone uses/used them for a while now. I think at the pro level it even happened at times because there were other units that needed to be microd more than the raven (like ghosts).
@@Draeckon can see some of the issues... but this match supposedly was grandmaster - i would expect the control to not be the issue here
i mostly remember harstem talking about how powerful the raven is in some of his other series^^
hence why i was wondering... if its that good and scans effectively cost over 200 minerals (since youre not getting the mule)... why not get a raven if youre constantly dealing with invisible ground units
though i guess the slowdown in medivac production is the primary reason - especially when you need to replace a lot of them
You need to do one just for Solar and terran nukes being IMBA AF on him. He's got too much class so do it for him Captain
first iodis without hamster? no shame counter or scan counter or anything harstem mentioned, no battle report of who lost more like all the other ones
Am I mistaken in thinking he could just build a couple ravens? Must admit I'm not too well versed in TvP, but if cloaked units are an issue, why not ravens?
Ravens require a tech lab starport (reactor preferred for viking and medivac production), are tough to control/easily picked off, and mess with control groups. EMP and scans should be more than enough.
@@msterforks I appreciate the thorough response, thank you.
a Starport + tech lab is 200 Mineral + 125 gas and a raven is 100 mineral + 200 gas. A scan from an orbital is worth around 200 mineral, a little bit more if dropped on near mineral line. For the first couple of ravens they are worth 2 scans each and after that 1.5 scans, plus they are an actual unit that can kill/debuff stuff.
And the terran player is permanently floating gas after 20 minute mark while struggling on mineral. But yeah usually EMP and scans are more than enough to kill DTs and the gas can be used to produce more viking/liberator/tank, but at the same time the guy is grandmaster and didn't even question himself scanning more than 20 times.
@@esra013 Thank you for the detailed response!
@@msterforks yeah but with how he was using his scans no amount of scans would be enough. Raven would be nice if that’s how he is gonna play it
weird korean fact: red numbers in stock market means that price went up
I feel really dumb that I only realized now that Hamster is an anagram of Harstem, excuse me...Hasterm
well if the ptr comes through, he can mix in a raven
Captain can you please explain why terrans dont keep 1 raven to detect for their army?
Yea it costs gas but isnt it better than constantly wasting OC energy scanning your own army?
The real reason is that, in a bio army, you typically only have one Starport which has a Reactor and not a Tech lab. So you literally can't build the Raven without investing in more infrastructure first. Yes, the Raven would definitely be worth it's own cost, but is it worth the added cost of the 2nd Starport?
... In a long enough heavy-DT game like this one, eventually yes you should probably get one, but that won't be true for every game and it's not obvious exactly where the dividing line is. Although I guess at the point where you are throwing away an army to snipe a Dark Shrine, maybe that should be your signal that you've reached that point.
theres a few reasons. 1) addon management is super crucial for terran. every build times and uses every add on efficiently. there's no random 'tech lab' floating around for you to build a raven. if you do it early then 2) they are easy to snipe and you cant build another one because the time of another tech lab is prohibitive. and 3) you usually need a separate control group for it or itll fly ahead of the army and die
😆Harstem doing failure management and emotional damage
Sorry for knockin Netherlands out of the WorldCup, i was cheering for Argentina (my homeland) and Holland (for you), but it Is what it Is :( love your country and i hope we can honor that incredible match by wining the WorldCup!
Seems to me that his issue with DTs was overly using scans (or if he wants to play like that he needs to get ravens or more CCs). As for the disruptors, I mean I'm not an expert protoss but i feel like the protoss was actually using them really badly? like he kept shooting from all of them together all at the same time (& at the same location). Usually it seems protoss stagger the shots, so they shoot 1-3 shots every ~5 seconds which seems to be harder for the terran to dodge consistently, and you keep the terran away.
After Oracle attack - send out army build turrets or 2 vikigns which can aid your army if things look alright, I think a coutner attack asap would of made sence ot utlize some map control, IE expand out and explore resource nodes around base. could leave one tank, back... oracle came right away so you know a prism won't be coming, most likly.. since in my experience its kind of funny, but peopel who make oracles tend to go stalkers or dt's lol
How many scans would be saved if he just had ONE raven with army? You know, there's a unit with detection :D
Do mosquitos have nests?
I know this is old & a reply is unlikely, BUT:
Harstem, wouldn't it make sense, in a situation like this, knowing the Protoss is DT happy, to have a Raven or two out, with the armies, so that there's free detection with them at all times, thereby rendering DTs useless - then when they stop making DTs, use the Ravens to harass with auto turrets in mineral lines while you attack elsewhere?
This occurred to me when you first mentioned that he was wasting so many scans (and of course the fact that he's missing out on mules because of said wasted scans).
