They divorced because Jay culter is no longer the "quarterback for the bears".
He has the money but women want more than money, they want status in a man. A pretty woman can marry a rich man anywhere. But for a for a woman like the wife, she wants status and the husband became boring for her. So she's divorced him and she will continue to try to fill her life with bullshyt. my two cents: if you had to break it down, they are both def at fault but i think it's more 60% kristins doing, 40% jay. kristin has always said jay was up front with her long ago that he wanted a traditional family/more stay at home mom, and she did that faithfully while being able to do her side projects like shoe line with chinese laundry and her cookbook. im not sure why jay retired but he had plenty of money and time to enter a quieter phase. i honestly think if they had never done the reality show they would be together. uncommon james went from a level 2 fame to level 10 overnight and that meant a TON of press trips away from the family, complete exposure, no privacy, constant PR, the pressures of fame instead of a quiet life. i think by season 3 she was kind of on her ego trip - she said its hard for me to make time for jay with the company...then she voluntarily signs up to host that dating show in mexico, signs up for a guest appearance on The Hills, keeps hosting for Emmys. Allllll that takes away from the core priority of family, it adds up. She doesnt need the extra money or exposure but she still chose to do it OVER spending that time bracket with her husband. i think thats where jays real resentment came in - it wasnt that she had a successful biz, it's that she blew it up and all the residual made it UJ/the "brand" of Kristin over him. he did not want to do the show, she talked him into it, and one season one she said jay was the last man on the totem pole in her day to day life
