Same, and it already made me cry buckets as a kid. Difference between then and now was that I didn't have the language to understand ableism and the idea of parents not wanting kids who were sick. Now that I do, it's sadder because I know my mother would not have had me if she knew I would have had so many illnesses...but it also has me determined to adopt a chronically ill child to give them the love, support, and guidance I never received from abled parents.
This song, plus Sinead O’Connor’s “When You Love” made me cry hard, even as a kid. Even as a kid, I was hugely sympathetic to Chuckie’s situation because my dad was a huge drug addict, so it was like not having a dad - so I understood Chuckie’s lacking a parent and how hard that is on a small kid. I didn’t get that father figure until my adulthood, but I had the same childhood anxiety that Chuckie had that’s carried into my adulthood. I’m so glad it hasn’t passed on to my daughter and her stepdad came into our lives when she was so young. It would break my heart for her to feel what I did growing up.

This song cuts to the quick for me. I had a mother. An alcoholic, abusive one that resented me. But I never had a mom that loved and cherished me. Whenever I hear this song, I get a lump in my throat because... yeah... I wanted a real mom. I still do.
My sweet child this made me cry, I hope you get to find a maternal figure along the way of your wonderful life, I pray for happiness to go find you at peace and loved ❤️❤️❤️
I feel for you. I have a mother but she's not motherly at all so my nana who raised me my whole life is my mother to me. She's the best thing that ever happened to me
Not gonna lie, when I was just a little kid seeing this movie for the first time I was completely taken by this song. It helped me see just how much he missed having a Mother's love in his life. :( I also now love how this song makes you appreciate having a Mother in your life.
I remember when I used to watch this movie all the time, I'd always cry at the airplane part because my parents are divorced and I love with my dad, so I hardly ever see my mom, and this song would remind me of her.
Aye man I know it's been ten years. But if it wasnt for my mom in my life I'd probably have already committed suicide. So sometimes moms are what everyone needs in life
I'm 23 now, and this song still brings tears to my eyes... You only get one Mom, and while we may have our rough spots, there aren't enough words to express how much I love her. It scares me to even think of life without my Mommy... I'd rather die before her, than to watch her go...
A mother is the best thing you could have in earth I love my mom so much and im glad she still alive and in good health and she will be a long time ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
This song hits home hard. My son constantly asks about and for his mom. She hasn't seen him in over 2 years. Deep down I feel like she just doesn't care about him anymore. And all he wants is his mom in his life.
I know many father who were in that same situation - and most of them alllowed themselves to be consumed by grief and neglected their child just as much as the absent mother. I can tell you would never do that to your child... god bless you

I lost my mom over a year ago and everytime I hear this song it kills me inside cuz I know I didn't tell her I loved her enough or how much she meant to me.
My mom was a total narcissist. She once told me I was too autistic and "robotic" to love anyone...and that I would never have a boyfriend to love me back. I have moved out, and it's hard now because she's still my mom. But I feel...that my true family is the many friends I have made. Found family later on in life can, in some cases, be more of a family than your related family. But I still wish she truly loved me. If she still does, she has a very strange way of showing it. But yeah...this song makes me both feel bad for Chuckie and also makes me wish I had a loving mother...
This song always reminds me of my mum. I lost her 14 years ago when I was 4. I'm 18 now and there is not a day that goes by where I don't think of her and how my life would be different if she was still here. I love you mum.
my mom died last year. we all miss her i think of her when i hear this because she took me to go see this movie when i was little and and was my most fondest memory of her. she went peacefully. she tried a 360 ollie off the half pipe and beefed it , she died as she lived a fucking shoobie! My mom may not be dead, but she was barely involved in my life growing up. So I never had that mother and child bond. It hurt me a lot not having a mother figure in my life.
14 years ago today, I was 7. I remember her a little bit it sucks. She started us kids on watching rugrats. This song means so much to me its weird. Lol Now i have an 8 month old son and would kill for my mom to meet him. Show her how far I've come, I don't know how they feel but I could really use one of those "mom" hugs today. :'(
I also wish they would bring this show back too and I also loved it when I was little too and yes it is still awesome always has been always will be forever and that is a promise
I remember watching this movie a long time ago-and crying cause i wouldnt want to lose my mom. Even now 11 or 12 years later, i still cry. I love you momma. I'm sorry for those who lost theirs.
My mom is still alive but this song makes me cry an i wish my mom will stay around forever I already lost my dad all I have left is my mom 😢 love your mother before its to late an all you have are pictures an memories
i remember having this movie on vhs and sobbing like a fucking mess over this scene on the plane and im still emo over it i loved this show as a kid and i still do
My mother passed away 3 years ago. It took me until going back to this song to realize how big of a loss this was to me... I was always mad at her, and now it's too late to forgive her. I'm such an idiot, but I hope my mom still loves me.
My mum had cancer last year, but I was lucky because she is so strong and just yesterday, she was officially in remission. I'm sorry to all those that have lost their mum, because I don't think I could live without mine. She's always there for me and my little brother and she always fights for us. I really believe I have the best mum in the world!
This song used to make me weep as a child, it still does. My mom was very sick when I was younger and often she was in the hospital and I never knew if she was coming back, and I often had to go to other peoples places. I'd cry for her everynight, I'm very happy to say I can revisit this song knowing shes in a good place right now ♥
this song makes me very emotional. its so beautiful, and so sad, its hard to not listen to! it makes me apreciate my mom so much more! im gonna give my mom a huge hug the very next time i talk to her. She deserves it, even if i dont ever tell her that.
This song breaks my heart... when I was a baby it reminded me of being separated from my brother and now it makes my heart ache because my relationship with my mum is rocky at best because of mental illness even though we used to be thick as thieves😒 now she’s run away
Omg how I miss the rugrats sooooooooooooooooo much I remember watching the rugrats tv shows and this movie wow it's old it brings me back to soooo many memories At my old house RUGRATS COME BACK!!! :(
As a little kid I would watch this movie and loved it. I was adopted along with my twin sister and when we were 15 our mother passed. She was too young and pure. I never realized what a great woman she was till after she died. Treasure those who you loved because they could be gone at any moment. 🌹
Beautiful song, but I nearly cried the first time Ii heard it, cause of Chuckie not having a mother, and I nearly cried after I found out how she died in Mother's Day, poor Chuckie. :*(
When I hear this song I get emotional, and feel bad for Chuckie when he had no mom, and lucky for me I have a mom who does all the good, and caring things for me growing up. This movie has brought me so much memories from my childhood, and this song can be so heartbreaking to those who all have lost their moms: I'm sorry for your loss.
If you ever asks me what is the best Rugrats movie, I would say the second one cause the entire movie is about Chuckie getting a new mom and his father a new wife. The other two movies are great but neither of them pull ones heart strings better than the second one. Is it the best Nickelodeon movie? No and why? Cause it's amongst the best Nickelodeon movies of all time. If you excuse me I need movie this bowl of onions 😭.
My mom passed away a little over 10 years ago, I am 21 now. She used to watch The Rugrats go to Paris movie with me whenever I wanted to. When this song came on, she would take me in her arms hug me tight and tell me she would always be there for me. So now when I have bad days, I listen to this song. It makes me remember her and all the memories we had together.
I remember when this came out, I was five, and I made my dad take me to see this in theaters 3 times, and my grandma once. I absolutely love this movie.
i get very emotional/ ANGRY when i hear this song. my mom and i were NEVER close growing up. for some reason since i was 9 if felt growing more and more distant from her. we get into verbally violent arguments almost on a weekly basis. and i feel this guilt because there are plenty of people out there who lost their loving mothers and who would do anything to bring her back into their lives. while i just look forward to the day where i never have to see or hear from my mom again. i despise her.
This song was on constant repeat from the soundtrack I bought from the movie when I was a teenager. I loved it, and I loved this film! Rugrats will always remain one of the great cartoons.
I always cry during this song. I lost my mom when I was 7, not physically but mentally. My youngest sibling was born and 8 months later her mother died from brain cancer. My mom started binge eating and became addicted to sugar like an alcoholic is addicted to alcohol. Beforehand, my mom was so much like what Cyndi is singing about and I miss that mom indefinitely. I'm sorry to those who have physically had their mother taken away. I'm sorry to those who have mentally had their mother taken away.
I’m 22, I was living with my mom and I put college aside a while back when I was maybe 18-19 to help my mom with bills and my younger siblings for a couple years now, I recently had a son with my girlfriend so now I’m living with her and her family. I moved out my moms and she moved in with close family of ours but dammit I miss seeing her everyday, even if she was bugging me. I love my mom and I can’t imagine where I’d be without her. I’m thankful to have the time I have with her.
Whenever I hear this song, It reminds me of known actors, music artists, and everyone else we've grown up with during our childhood that are now unfortunately gone that have helped make the world a better place for everyone and even animals. like Robin Williams, Micheal Jackson, Christine Cavanaugh, Mel Blanc, Gary Owens, Leonard Nimoy, Steve Irwin, Dom Deluise, Bob Hoskins, Jim Henson, Shirley Temple, Walt Disney, Louis Armstrong, William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, Casey Kasem, Wayne Allwine, Don Messick, Judith Barsi, Whitney Houston, Richard Attenborough, Dickie Jones, Jim Croce, Barry White, Bernie Mac, Billy Mays, Bill Scott, Chuck Jones, Neil Armstrong, Mickey Rooney, John Lennon, Selena, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, Howard Morris , William Windom, Lee Thompson Young, Jerry Dexter , Danny Wells, Lucille Bliss, Ernest Borgnine, Alice Playten, Captain Lou Albano, Marty Ingels', Natalie Cole, Rodney Dangerfield, James Avery, Rod Taylor, Norman Bridwell, Lorenzo Music, Dwayne Mcduffie, Dana Hill, Roberto Gomez Bolanos, John Stephenson, Steve Viksten, Barrie Ingham, Brian Bedford, Wes Craven, Daniel Kyre, Yvonne Joyce Craig, Deem Bristow, Chikao Ohtsuka, Ross Bagdasarian Sr., Lee Thompson Young, and just recently Joe Alaskey, Legend of Rock PRINCE, Alan Young, Jack Riley, C. Martin Croker, Issac Hayes, Alan Rickman, Chris Farley, Carrie Fisher, & Ronnie James
I'm a 15 year old boy who is going through some rough times. I yell, and I say things I don't mean. And through all of this, my mom still loves me no matter what. I take her for granted. I've got tears rolling down my face and I'm sobbing like I'm 4. Love you Mom.
I love this song, It makes me appreciate my mom a little more each time I hear it. This is an amazing song, beautifully written and beautifully sung. Lol I'm 18 and I STILL haven't out grown this song this movie and that show
This song has special meaning to me because my own mom is an immortal from the highlands of Scotland who cannot die unless you take her head, and with it, her power.
I wish there was an instrumental version of this song. I really wanna do a cover. I didn't lose my mother fortunately but I still think of many other loved ones I've lost when hearing this.

My mom may not be dead, but she was barely involved in my life growing up. So I never had that mother and child bond. It hurt me a lot not having a mother figure in my life.
Im sorry to hear that i hope you're doing better now
I cried today watching this with the little kids that my mom takes care of. I swear they thought I was crazy, but I always cry
I also always cry too and I also cried watching this too
14 years ago today, I was 7. I remember her a little bit it sucks. She started us kids on watching rugrats. This song means so much to me its weird. Lol Now i have an 8 month old son and would kill for my mom to meet him. Show her how far I've come, I don't know how they feel but I could really use one of those "mom" hugs today. :'(
Damnit, you literally made me drop a tear ;_;
I am sorry for your loss.
rest in peace mommy 03/13/63 - 06/16/11

My mother passed away 3 years ago. It took me until going back to this song to realize how big of a loss this was to me... I was always mad at her, and now it's too late to forgive her. I'm such an idiot, but I hope my mom still loves me.
Your mom will always love you.
For goods and the bad.
She loves you no matter what happens. Sorry for your loss
I am sorry for your loss.
My mum had cancer last year, but I was lucky because she is so strong and just yesterday, she was officially in remission. I'm sorry to all those that have lost their mum, because I don't think I could live without mine. She's always there for me and my little brother and she always fights for us. I really believe I have the best mum in the world!
Had no idea this was Cyndi Lauper ??! Good job cyndi I've loved this song since it came out when I was a toddler in 2000
Kira Dunlap I was one year old, how about you?
this song made me cry everytime i heard it :(
this song also made me cry everytime I heard it too
This song used to make me weep as a child, it still does. My mom was very sick when I was younger and often she was in the hospital and I never knew if she was coming back, and I often had to go to other peoples places. I'd cry for her everynight, I'm very happy to say I can revisit this song knowing shes in a good place right now ♥
I'm sending this song to my mom on Mother's Day
This song makes me cry every time since I first heard it watching this movie and I'm crying right NOW
this song also makes me cry every time since I first heard it watching this movie too and I'm also crying right now too
this song makes me very emotional. its so beautiful, and so sad, its hard to not listen to! it makes me apreciate my mom so much more! im gonna give my mom a huge hug the very next time i talk to her. She deserves it, even if i dont ever tell her that.
this song also makes me very emotional too and yes it is so beautiful and so sad and yes it is hard not to listen to it
This song breaks my heart... when I was a baby it reminded me of being separated from my brother and now it makes my heart ache because my relationship with my mum is rocky at best because of mental illness even though we used to be thick as thieves😒 now she’s run away
this song also breaks my heart too
God this song makes me cry wayyy more now that I'm grown, I love my mom so much and I don't know what I'd do without her.
I'm an adult and this makes me bawl like a baby. Say it loud, sayin' it proud. This song has always hit home. :'(
I love this song cuz every kid wants a mom that last forever it's such a touching song :)
I also love this song too and yes it is such a touching song
This song holds a special place in my heart as we played it for my beautiful Mother in Law at her funeral. We lost a lovely lady 16 years ago today :(

9 years later and still makes me cry...
As a little kid I would watch this movie and loved it. I was adopted along with my twin sister and when we were 15 our mother passed. She was too young and pure. I never realized what a great woman she was till after she died. Treasure those who you loved because they could be gone at any moment. 🌹
My mom passed to
Beautiful song, but I nearly cried the first time Ii heard it, cause of Chuckie not having a mother, and I nearly cried after I found out how she died in Mother's Day, poor Chuckie. :*(
Yeah me too.
I am glad my mum survived through my childhood, and is still alive.
Christian Core
from daughter:say what ?????
nvm forget that.
nvm sorry autocorrect.
Even though I love my mom more more than anything but I still cry!
I also still cry too
When I hear this song I get emotional, and feel bad for Chuckie when he had no mom, and lucky for me I have a mom who does all the good, and caring things for me growing up.
I am 30 now and I also listen to this song too
my mom just passed and i am only 14 so every time i hear this i fall to tears cause i see an image of her in my head for every line tht it says :'(
I am 30 years old so everytime I hear this I also fall to tears too
I remember when this came out, I was five, and I made my dad take me to see this in theaters 3 times, and my grandma once. I absolutely love this movie.
i also absolutely love this movie too always did always have always do always will forever and that is a promise
i get very emotional/ ANGRY when i hear this song. my mom and i were NEVER close growing up. for some reason since i was 9 if felt growing more and more distant from her. we get into verbally violent arguments almost on a weekly basis. and i feel this guilt because there are plenty of people out there who lost their loving mothers and who would do anything to bring her back into their lives. while i just look forward to the day where i never have to see or hear from my mom again. i despise her.
this always makes me cry, my mum wasn't really around when I was growing up. I was raised by my dad, so this hits a nerve.
this also always makes me cry too
This song was on constant repeat from the soundtrack I bought from the movie when I was a teenager. I loved it, and I loved this film! Rugrats will always remain one of the great cartoons.
I also loved it too and I also loved this film too and yes rugrats will always remain one of the great cartoons
I cried because I’m grateful for having a mom in my life who loved me and loves Jesus
Cassidy Varg Aw, sorry to hear about that.
I’m thankful to have the time I have with her.
this song makes me cry every time
this song also makes me cry every time too

I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!!!!!!! And you will be with me forever in my heart. In Loving memory of my mom Jean Clay Sept. 16 2012 Your daughter, Missy
I'm a 15 year old boy who is going through some rough times. I yell, and I say things I don't mean. And through all of this, my mom still loves me no matter what. I take her for granted. I've got tears rolling down my face and I'm sobbing like I'm 4. Love you Mom.
I lost my mum in 2014 when I was 16 now I'm 19 and I still listen to this song when I need a cry

I appreciate songs like this they have so much meaning unlike others
I love my mom. With all my heart. :)
I want a freaking instrumental version too.
@MostlyWasteofTime awww :( I really hope for the best. Good luck.
