  • Road Test: 2007 Fiat Panda 100HP
The Fiat Panda is known as the Italian 'peoples car', often frequenting town roads and car parks. You're less likely to see this version however, as there are less than 2,000 registered on the UK roads.
The 100HP was produced between 2006 and 2010, selling for less than £10k new. Tighter emission regulations meant production didn't last longer.
    Looks:
The 100HP is easily distinguishable against the normal Panda -- Black Tinted rear windows, flared arches surround the 15" alloys, sportier front and rear bumpers also show what this car is about. Whilst it won't scare young children like an Evo X, it will stop you from referring to it as 'cute'.
Inside it features sport seats, auto air-con and bluetooth on top of all the other standard Panda features. The baby Fiat is something of a Tardis - much bigger inside than the exterior would suggest.
    Driving:
The 1.4 16v 'FIRE' engine gives a surprisingly meaty soundtrack but can eventually be drowned out by tyre and wind noise.
A 'Sport' button on the dash sharpens the throttle response and "adds some weight" to the steering, this reduces the refinement of low speed driving but aids the communication with the car when on your favourite roads.
Whilst some may baulk at the performance stats, we think they're completely missing the point... this car is all about fun, its the fact that you can extract 100% of the performance without breaking the law or the bank (easily returns 40mg+).
As with a lot of low power / low weight cars, its all about maintaining momentum, something the cheeky Panda encourages you to do!
    Stats:
    Power: 99bhp
    Weight: 975kg
    0-60: 9.5secs
    Top Speed: 115mph
    Cost:
Prices currently range between £3,500 and £6,500.
