For me itâs like Groundhogs day đ€Ł I forget I have healed a bit, but the mind seems to always remember the bad days making forget the progress Iâve already made.
Why do we have such a strong negative bias??? Its super common. We all do that for some reason. I assume it's a protective mechanism since our brains are here to keep us alive, not happy. But, being aware of this can really help so good job pointing out the habit. :-)
Thank you both. I had a panic attack this morning walking back from the store and this helped a lot.
I love when you have her on! She and Josh are my favorite guests.
Lauren rocks, doesn't she? :-)
I can relate to the point Lauren made about needing confidence not certainty. For me I need confidence that I will be able to handle any situation that might arise rather than the certainty that a situation won't happen.
That is a REALLY important distinction so she totally knocked it out of the park when she said that. I totally agree!
I have come over from Spotify... Just want to say I'm really enjoying these conversations. The podcast in particular that I really like, is the one where you talk about having anxiety before having anxiety...alot of aha moments for me.
My feelings were dragging me up and down the street..wow so powerful
That is an accurate description for me, and I got REALLY tired of that. I appreciate that it resonated with you.
It resonates with me too..I am having a second bout of hyperstimulation from ruminating over a whoosing sound in my ear that went on for 2 years..
in 2016 I had a bout with it for 6 months and finally cured it with claire weekes and her complete acceptance advice.
Now I am struggling a bit with it but your statement is helping me accept fully and sag!,
Onward
Great episode y'all. My 5 would be...
1. Stop talking about the anxiety
2. Divert the mind as much as possible
3. Walk. A lot.
4. Don't bother with EFT, hypnosis, energy healing, NLP, etc.
5. Don't think celery juice will cure anxiety (I had to put this in there lol)
I would add "Don't engage" but maybe that's the same as your #2!
@@GodlessPhilosopher yep same thing. Creative and intellectual engagement stops the risk assessments
4&5 lol been there never again
@@slv6470 when you learn how emotions are turned on and off you realize that all these coping mechanisms are absolute nonsense.
Just popping in to say that I LOVE that there is an actual conversation happening in my comments section! :-)
SO. GOOD. I'm going to listen again and take notes..đ
So happy that you found this one helpful! :-)
Such a great episode (in bold and italic fontđđđ) and so insightful𫶠I can relate to many of the points that you and Lauren shared! And thank you for your #4 Drewđ€!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Got to my 40s before realizing âdude your thoughts arenât real or important!â đł
Right???? This is such a huge deal when we realize it.
To help solve this for me⊠I kept a little notebook. When I felt something, I told no one and wrote it down. âThis bruise is hanging around too long, maybe I have a blood disorder, whatâs that pain in my foot, a headache hmmm, could it be something more serious â and blah, blah, blah. After a while, Iâd go back and read them and notice, wonder of wondersâŠ.. these issues have resolved themselves !! Still review periodically when I need to.
Love this!!! What a productive way to express those irrational fears, but in a way that doesn't add fuel to the fire. I love the looping back to let reality teach you important lessons. Thank you for sharing. :-)
I can get on with my life but can't stop thinking about anxiety especially when my stomach feels funny.
ive been a spotify listener for awhile now and i came over to watch on youtube and i love it alot better being able to watch seems better but anyways i wanted toask about the part of emotional connection, sometimes i feel there it is i feel lol but i feel like i really take on other peoples feelings in a deep way what is this called and how can i deal with it? thank you for your time and i love the podcast
I'm not sure I understand the question completely so feel free to re-phrase . If you're asking about "feeling other people's feelings", that's complicated. Often that's somehow seen as some kind of almost supernatural power or ability. Some will call it a curse, but also be kinda proud of it and want to make it a big part of their identity. I tend to view that as a protection response. Those that claim this "power" tend to often come from lived experiences where trying to predict and read what others are feeling was required to avoid being blindsided or hurt in some way. "I take on your feelings because I learned that I had to do that to stay safe". I can't tell you for sure but those are common interpretations and things for you to maybe reflect on to see if any of that makes sense for you. xx
I think maybe I'm just super empathetic to people maybe it's hard for me to explain too but thanks
This is a 5 star episode. Tip 2- digging, digging ,digging or put down the shovel and walk away. ExcellentâŠ
Shut up⊠SO guilty of this. âI feel (insert symptom)đ⊠oh no, what ifâŠ
(Insert any catastrophic ending). Perhaps an underhanded way of seeking reassurance ? ⊠feelings dragging you up and down the street.
Guys, great analogies on this. Thanks.
Love this podcast âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž
Lauren rocks, doesn't she? I'm glad you enjoyed this one and found it useful. :-)
Great
I wondered where lizard brain gets all that ideas to scare us?
Damn good question. It gets to just make stuff up whenever it feels like it! So uncool!
