It’s all fun and games until the consequences become apparent
Say my name
Students, go get a job. Get off your parents payroll.
Don’t they have to finish school first?
To get a job?
You are here to learn not protest. Take your protest to the streets not the university
Boohoo, our money pays for up keeping the place. We’re allowed to protest, that’s our first amendment right
If these kids want to waste their own time and tuition, then they should be able.
What's unforgivable is that they're disrupting classes and learning opportunities for OTHER students who don't agree with them or want nothing to do with them.
(Columbia is an "elite" school, but these Ivy League Universities allow a small percentage of underprivileged people in each year - my father was one of them - who sacrificed a tremendous amount to get in and gain the skills/connections to make a better life for their families.)
A lot of the kids who are being "inconvenienced" by these protests are there on hard-earned scholarships, or by taking out a tremendous amount of debt that they NEED to earn back to not end up financially ruined one day.
These protesters have no right to endanger _those_ students' livelihoods and futures.
@@CytotoxinK Guess what, those kids who are disadvantaged ARE the ones setting these encampments up. Also, what inconvenience? They can still get to class. Suck it up. They’re not endangering anyone
@@CytotoxinK like these kids are getting arrested and expelled and I won’t be shocked when the NG or the police kill a kid. I’m sorry your dads hypothetical walk to class in the current day is interrupted by students fighting for what’s right
@@_jakester_0444 "what inconvenience" They have chosen to protest directly on top of the grounds where the graduation was supposed to be held. Imagine working your butt off for 4 years only for someone to come in and destroy your graduation because of something they could do elsewhere and ultimately does not change anything.
You’re literally a guest on private property. You can be removed and charged for trespassing. You want to protest, then do it somewhere else.
Thats not the point of protesting lmao. The whole point is to get attention. If they did this in like bumfuck nowhere nobody would even be talking about this.
Why don’t they protest in front of the White House ?
They can't afford plane tickets?
There are folks protesting or have protested there. But these are students. They are focusing their power where it matters the most, the universities that make millions off of them.
Because they are protesting the university. They want the university to stop spending their tution money on Israel
Or at a minimum, their state capital?
They don't actually care about making a change, they're just lazy but want to make themselves feel like they're doing something.
Proof that being in an Ivy league doesn’t mean you are smart. The fact that they don’t know the requests are outlandish and cannot succeed is the saddest part.
Means nothing, just like the midnight deadline.
Means as much as Biden's "don't" and Obama's "red line".
