  • Just me chatting pure inanity about some of the boring stuff I've done to my Fazer. Ask bill payer's permission.

    Belly pan is worth it, my boxeye came with one already fitted and it makes the look so much better IMO

      I was constantly looking for a belly pan but I could never find one for a reasonable price, sadly. I no longer have the Fazer but they are exceptional bikes and I would certainly have one again. Safe riding!

    I have the same moto from 2003. The only problem you have with this bike is that you get married to it. It doesn't age, it doesn't break down, you get bored of having the same moto but when I stop at the traffic light they turn and look at it. This makes me feel good about the doll and I continue to keep it in top condition.

      Thanks - I haven't had time to do much more regarding videos in the recent past but that will change soon! Thanks for watching and commenting, I'm not really a 'youtuber' but hopefully I'll be able to add something to the Fazer community. Enjoy the ride, and stay safe :)

    Great bike. and great video Tom. ! Bought a Bandit in 1998 and had a Fazer as a loan bike while the Bandit was being serviced. Nothing wrong with the Bandit but I wished I had bought a Fazer!. Got one now though, very blue, like yours. Previous owner had put a blue screen on it. too blue for me so a smoke tint one on order. My first impressions as an owner? Lighter than my previous Triumph sports tourer, easy to get at everything for servicing and great fun to ride! All good so far!

      Hi Carl, thanks for commenting. Great to hear your Fazer is going well, I'm planning to do some more stuff to mine, new discs and new chain and sprockets but so far the old workhorse is still powering on!

    Buying a 2002 like this but in a goldish yellow next week, so happy it has the good looking headlights not the single or squared ones

      Hi, thanks for your comment. Good luck with the purchase, these really are bullet proof bikes if you get a good one. I believe yours will be a 'foxeye' which I also think is the better looking model. Good luck and happy riding!

      @@thomascharnock Definitely has pretty headlights, and it's nice knowing it has come from a good home with the only MOT advisories 5 years ago being for brake light which was probably a change of bulb and a few years before that the usual brake disc wear which was already dealt with. It sounds awesome so I'm excited, not long now to wait :D
      Your recommendation of the fender extender is perfect as I want to keep my boots and the bike as clean as possible. I'm an ACF50, WD40 and Muc-Off Polish fanatic, every 2 weeks if I can xD
      I've already looked at some bumblebee transformers keychains on ebay because that would be cute and go perfect with the bike 🤭

    Got a few rusty bolts there. I bought a load of fittings for my FZ6 off ebay for about £15 and went around replacing them. I also bought stainless steel header nuts for about £3 and swapped them out. Also found that the screen screws are only plastic so got stainless ones for that for about £8. It is easy to spend money on these things but I think that the bike repays you in reliability. I do oil and filter every 3000 miles which is pretty short but for the sake of £25 it is worth it.

    • @thomascharnock
      @thomascharnock  Před 11 měsíci

      Funny you say that, I was looking at the rusty bolts and stuff the other day and got the wire brush on them. I should replace the ones I can't clean - thanks for your comment!

    I have the exact same bike and did the same servicing over winter, coolant flush but I used rad flush as the coolant that came out was minging, replaced with yAmalube and put a new rad on it, checked valves they were all in spec just about. I put some renthal bars and risers on and I way prefer it now with some nice heavy bar ends, new tyres battlax 03. And did the indicators as well, the last guy put these led ones on you could hardly see some some better ones still not totally convinced but they’re way better. What can I say, I love riding this bike and after all the hard work over winter she feels like mine too, taking it to Spain soon and I’m sure all the BMW GS riders will raise an eyebrow at the old Fazer but they will know the deal when I zip past them at a later date.

      Sounds awesome Matt, thanks for your comment and I agree with you. I love my RE Interceptor but the Fazer is just something else, it's so quick for such an old bike.

    I put yzf600r cams in mine, steel braided lines, custom seat, carbs balanced, k&n filter, advanced timing, iridium plugs, heat wrapped exhaust, alarm, immobiliser, remote ket start, oil sensor, cylinder head temp sensor, exhaust gas temp sensor, tyre pressure monitoring system, semi-auto radiator fan switch which comes on automatically or manually whenever you like + more such as HiD bulbs, louder horn, etc

    • @ShibaDesigner
      @ShibaDesigner Před rokem

      What year is your fazer and what year yzf cams did you put in, was there much else todo etc as I’m doing cam chain on mine and wasn’t sure if worth swapping a few bits if I can find them TIA

    • @enzorum2560
      @enzorum2560 Před rokem

      @@ShibaDesigner the Fazer is a 2003 FZS600 and the YZF600R is a 2001. in the Haynes manual it only shows a slight difference in the exhaust cam profile but I swapped out both intake and exhaust cams and the bike either wheelies or wheel spins around quarter throttle in 1st. I highly recommend this, however I didn't just randomly go and try finding performance cams because they don't seem to exist, it's important to note that I have a yzf600r project bike and had these cams as spare. another important side not is the timing. I didn't follow the timing marks on the thundercat cams, instead I eyeballed and set the timing to the original Fazer cams since I'm not sure how badly midrange would be affected for the top range. another thing is they both share the same valve clearances these cams so it's 11mmx20mm intake and 21mmx30mm exhaust.

    • @enzorum2560
      @enzorum2560 Před rokem

      @@ShibaDesigner oh one more super important side note I forgot to mention was I swapped the cam gear cogs (not sure what they're called) but the teeth the timing chain turns the camshaft on. basically I took the yzf600r and Fazer cams and I swapped out the gear that the chain goes on. I'm struggling to explain this but I put the Fazers gear cog thingy on the yzf600r cams

    Good bike, I have a boxeye fazer, did you swap out the sparkplugs ? If you do check to see if their drain holes are clear as water can build up in them causing corrosion. Also a decent cheapish upgrade would be to put some better headlight bulbs in. Mine been a boxeye this was a must but still poor lol.

      @thomascharnock  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hi mate, mine was a 2003 model iirc. I no longer have it, but it was a superb machine. I would probably go for the later Foxeye model if given the choice, as parts seem to be easily avalable. Not that the boxeye parts aren't also readily available - also I think the newer headlight shape looks better :)
