You guys really do set the bench mark, simply perfection
Very very kind thank you🧡⚙️
I ride a retro steel road bike which I have grown to love. Suntour SVX rear mech and Simplex front. Paid £20, Gave it a thorough clean, rebuilt/replaced several items over time and is a dream to ride now. At some point it has been repainted and totally forgot to ask the vendor what it is. Your uploads are an inspiration and the main reason for purchase
Wow that’s a great story! Glad you enjoy all the videos and enjoy your bike!🧡
Ahhh and relax. What is it about these videos that is just pure therapy 🙂. It’s a joy to watch these wonderful old bikes being given a new lease of life with such attention to detail. The hub reassembly was a work of art in itself. It would never have been that good when it left the factory.
That’s very very kind thank you very much🧡
I love watching these videos where you work on older bikes. My LBS doesn't want to work on older bikes. So when the time comes I have to do that work.
The reason is.. the service is worth more than the bike!
Obviously without service the bike can't be used, and now this bike will get to be used, quite a nice commute bike
@@aitorbleda8267 But if I want to pay they should not care how much bike is worth.
@@celestialemissary4934 Some bike shops simply don't have the older tools (or knowledge), they simply won't invest.
Yes there are many specialist and one off tools for the older stuff 🧡
Wow! You made a great bike even better! Looks superb. Credit to you guys.
Thanks for enjoying it!🧡
Great to see a Peugeot saved from the skip!
Breath new life in an old Bike, awesome detail job, 90% of people don't need a new bike, just service the one they already have. 🚲🚲🚲
Exactly!🧡⚙️
I have this exact bike, I wasn't expecting to see it anywhere else since there is not really much info about it on the web. Nice job.
Just one we found on Facebook!🧡
Makes my heart happy to see a beauty brought back from feeling sorry for itself, restored to former glory. Great service, thanks & merry Christmas
Thanks for all the kind support!🧡
Nice to watch you at this restauration job
Thanks very much!🧡⚙️
Great one to end the year with. Thanks for all your content in 2023, looking forward to 2024. Thank you 👍🏻
Thanks very much for the support across every video!🧡
You've been busy over Christmas then ! I couldn't go near that bike with the spider's nests !! You'll be glad to know I got one of your big softy brushes for Christmas.
That’s awesome! We did talk about the fact a lot of people would be opening bikespeeds gifts for Christmas and it was a great thought. We did uncover a GIGANTIC false widow spider but swiftly threw it outside without turning on the camera 🧡
I find that it's these vintage bikes that are the most satisfying to watch them being brought back to life. I wouldn't hesitate to have a blast on that one....❤
We agree! Old is gold 🧡⚙️
Watched loads of your videos and this is easily one of my favourites what a Stella job and even though it is done at a fast speed you learn so much. But what I do love about these videos it is the pure love a getting a bike back to its best whatever the type of bike it’s not all mega expensive latest tricked out machine that costs thousands of pounds. Absolutely brilliant as usual 😊
I think that's what I like too....he does so many different types/levels of bikes...some are dream bikes and some are just regular old bikes... but he gives the exact same love to every single bike
That is also an aspect we enjoy ourselves!🧡
Superb finishing to that bike!
Thank you!🧡⚙️
Magnificent work guys
Thanks again🧡
This is a work of love, this felt more like a resurrection than a restauration!
Thanks for the support!🧡
That must be so satisfying, great job.
Thanks very much!🧡
Crazy just realized your videos are a meditation for me !
Yes I do love steel bikes that helps !
Thanks for the kind words!🧡⚙️
The paint after a wash and shineup really pops. Nice.
Rebuilding the wheels looked so rewarding. The feel of the bike after the rebuild will be so smoooooth....the glide on air feel.
Nice and clicky hub!🧡
One of your finest yet!
Thank you again for all the support this year 🧡
Another bike saved and looking spiffy 😊. You guys are what gives professionals a good name.
Another outstanding job! I’m going to be back over in Norfolk next month and am hoping to pop in to the shop to say hello.
Would love to see you if you did 🧡
Would it be better for you if I ordered some items from your website or buy from the shop?
Would love to see a video on all the different torque specs.
Extraordinary professionalism and attention to detail.
Very kind thank you!🧡
Impressed with the rear hub work, thank you.
Thanks again for enjoying the channel!🧡
Another fantastic rebuild of an old classic Peugeot road bike once again superb happy new year to all
Happy new year and thanks for your support!🧡
Lovely job but as a wheel builder the idea of truing to tension takes the shine off an otherwise lovely job. The "true" wheel on the right still has a fairly significant left/right run out which can easily be fixed. It will mess up your nice graph a little bit but the wheel will run better. Manufacturing variances in rims mean that perfectly even tension on all spokes will almost never produce the straightest possible wheel.
True the wheel, checking tension on a couple of spokes left and right occasionally to make sure the whole wheel isn't getting too tight or too loose. As long as you're in range and the wheel is straight you have the best possible wheel.
Excellent job gentlemen. I particularly enjoy old bicycle repairs, you do it with such respect. I also wish you both a happy new yesr filled with interesting repairs and insightful advice
Thanks very much for the support across all the videos this year!🧡
Another fun video and very informative, i literally use your videos for a guide to maintain my bike , hope one day visit your shop just to say hello to the legends you are gentlemans
We’d love to see you!🧡
Great job Love those chains ! Another bike back 😎
Thanks for all the support every week🧡
That looked very satisfying! Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Just found a very rusted Triumph of a similar style in buried in a field. Thanks for this video, I hope to get her rolling again and will have this on repeat!
Best of luck! Enjoy the process 🧡
what a great way of bringing an old bike back to life! love it
Thanks for watching!🧡⚙️
Wow, made my day, absolutely brilliant, thanks
Thank you David!🧡⚙️
I have said it before, but still amazes me how those older components sparkle after a good washing.
They genuinely are incredibly manufactured 🧡
I hope the bike receives more love now.
Hopefully!
Great video. Thanks for all the videos this year. Hope you have a great New Year and look forward to more content soon.
Thanks for the support across the year!🧡
Dont understand the economics of this my friend but wow so so super good that these old pretty bikes are being put back on the road by your skills and effort 🎉

Thank you very much!🧡
The magic continues 👌
Thanks for the continuing support!🧡⚙️
Merry Christmas! Lovely job once again.
Happy holidays! Thanks for the support 🧡
Top job as always. Looks fab, and excellent video editing as usual.
I bought an old Peugeot ten speed for £10 on ebay, local pickup, when I was a penniless twenty something in Manchester about 2007. The paint was faded matt black, orange decals, top tibe parallel to the ground. Old school look. Loved it, but when the rear hub failed I was completely unable to source the correct tool for removing the rear block/freehub. My friend who worked in a bike shop told me all Peugeot's had this odd fitting at the back. I had to part with the bike as a result unfortunately.
It gave you a great story!🧡
Outstanding job as always guys, and loose ball bearings in the headset so old school yet so much better . Cheers
If nothing else it’s more satisfying!🧡
Good work with the back wheel
Thanks very much!🧡
Amazing transformation ❤
Thank you!🧡
It's so cozy watching those restoration videos. What a great job!
Thanks for the support🧡

Fantastic service and restoration of a beautiful bike. Happy New Year Lee/Simon, and thanks for all the great videos this past year. Yours is the best channel on CZcams. Different bikes, different stories, but the best service anywhere. All the best in 2024.

Old is gold!🧡
Happy Holidays Simon and Lee. Love the restorations that you do to bring new life into these cool older bikes.
Beautiful

a Christmas miracle
Loved it guys, one of the best ones yet!
Thanks Fallington!🧡⚙️
Amazing restoration!
Thank you Mike!🧡
Best thing I've watched this Christmas!
Haha thanks very much🧡
Loved this - a proper top-to-bottom restoration. You even disassembled the crankset; not something I see you do all that much. The seatpost clamp adjustment was just 👌 Happy Christmas Gents 👊
Was fun to go to town on this one! Glad you enjoyed the extra effort 🧡
Quality as always guys 👌
Thanks for all the support week in week out🧡
Fantastic job 👍🏻
Thank you Tom! Great to see you in the comments again🧡

Your skill level is cracking .... great job on bringing that old bike back to life
Thanks very very much!🧡
That was an other amazing video an amazing work so satisfying well done. 👏👏👏
Thank you again!🧡⚙️
Another great job
Thanks for all the support this year🧡
Beautiful job! Wish I had all the assets, skills and patience to do exactly the same, since I love old bikes! 19:00 and again at 20:30 the upper RD limiter screw could have used a little de-rusting or change to a new one, just a minor detail to pick up on. 😜
Great rebuild, thank you and if its the last video before 2024:
Great holidays and the best for 2024, cheers!
Thanks for the support this year 🧡
Great job again buddy 👍🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍🇬🇧
Thank you!🧡🇬🇧
It makes me happy to see perfectly fine bikes being brought back to top form. Good for the owner, good for the environment and good for the shop. Done is less time than it would take to just service the headset bearings on an internal cabled bike or in the time it takes to bleed the brakes #bikesarenowstupid
Agreed, agreed, agreed!🧡
Pheonixly beautiful! What a reborn 😎 love that bike! I have one❤️
Hope you are having great Christmas holidays!
Awesome! Hopefully this one was special for you🧡
@@Bikespeeds What an honor! ☺️ All the best for 2024!
A good video guys, enjoyed the process even being a seasoned self taught bike techie and ultimately rider too. I had two Peugeots in my time, a Tri Athlon, I think, with 501 main tubes and previous to that a Simplex specced one in metallic deep red. Loved them the later being written off in a side on over the bonnet crash with a car that pulled out on me. Keep up the good work
Sorry to hear about the crash! Glad this video was up your street🧡
What’s not to like about this vid. Cheers mate lovely job.
Very kind thank you!🧡
I think this your best one yet. Truly rescued it from the scrap pile though I think your bill will be more than a bike like this is worth
Glad you enjoyed it!🧡
Love the old bike restorations. Not as excited at the newer bike restoration. lol.
We too love them!🧡
Great job on a difficult project. It might be a 2000 or 2001 model. Aluminium with megatubes was popular at that time with the lightest frames.
Thanks!🧡
Good vid. You should flash up the torque setting up in the video which would be nice 😊
nice job
Thank you!!🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds happy new year!
What a coincidence I just serviced my freehub yesterday.
Mine is held in with a 12 sided screw which you can apparently remove with an 11mm hex, but I realised I don't actually have to take it off, so I just disassembled everything while it's on the hub.
We have also done this ourselves 🧡
Perfec ❤❤❤❤❤❤
A freehub sound check would be nice at the end 2
A M A Z I N G !
Thank you!!🧡
another bikespeeds special. setting the standards
Thank you again!🧡
I ride a vintage 90s mtb with suntour shifters/deraulliers.
Very cool!🧡
Hello guys, as always many greetings and thanks for your work on this channel from Germany! For 2024 all the best, health, luck and for all of us freedom everywhere in the world! Bye for now and see you in 2024 again 😘🎉🪅🌞🍀👍
Seeing you tonight!🧡
@@Bikespeeds I’ll be there 😃👍🌞🍀
Hi, nice video. can you name the tool you use for opening the freewheel of the rear hub? Thanks. Keep on detailing!
What tool do you use for the body? Makes it look easy
Love watching these full make overs. 🎉
Thanks very much for giving us the time!🧡⚙️
First! Happy holidays Bikespeeds family! 🥳🦌🎅🏼🎄
Thanks very much Karlos we appreciate all your support 🧡⚙️
Hi, love your videos❤
Pls keep the work up.
How do you know how much torque to apply for each part?
We do a lot of older bikes in our shop as well, and for some reason... I find much more enjoyment out of doing them than most others. I noticed that the chainrings were also worn; did you not replace them as a cost savings to the owner? The bike looks great, thanks for sharing!
We share your sentiment on the old bikes. There’s plenty of tolerance on these and the chain sat well on it so we opted to leave it as is🧡
When you're replacing caged ball bearings in the headset with loose ball bearings, is there a specific number depending on the diameter, or just as many as needed to fill the cup
Just as many as needed 🧡
Looks like the chain is a little short on the final rebuild and i'd have trimmed the gear cables because they seem to cross the centerline of the bike due to excessive length... But cant remember what my Trek 2300 cables looked like. Overall, an amazing job!
