- The last time we soaked a skateboard in Nail Polish Remover, the experiment resulted in the wood turning into something similar to the shape of cooked bacon! Today, we test one of the most technologically advanced skateboards... the flight deck. How will the carbon fiber reinforced skateboard hold up to the harsh nail polish remover?! I have the Andy Anderson flight deck and Ive skated in the heavy rain with it multiple times Ive had it for a year already. it still has pop and it's pretty cool how it literally wont break

Nigel can skate better with out wheels and trucks than I can on a complete in my wet dreams. Holy schnikes that was impressive.

To throw something into the mix, the surface TEXTURE of a flight deck looks like aramid kevlar, ( as used in snow boards); so may be carbon reinforced kevlar.
Also, I think that powell has created an extremely flexible adhesive.
I don't know if they've used a different wood, but maple is still the best for a skateboard....or is it?😮

I'm at where they just pulled it out and explained a regular board delamed. I'm guessing Powell uses the same resin as the carbon fiber piece for all the layers and acetone won't eat it like it does for the screen print on the graphic or the adhesive for the griptape. Just a guess, don't know their process. Could be higher quality wood or more processed for quality too so gets a better bond between the layers. Dunno. As always interesting vid boys!
The flex on that deck looks normal. I ride a Flight deck and it's really springy compared to standard wood decks; it's almost like a gym springboard. Same for the hardware reinforcement plates sticking out. If I had to guess, I'd say there was probably a bit of damage around the edges where the wood soaked up the nail polish remover, but the core is fine.

Go to home depot, in the paint dept. they gave large jugs of muriatic acid… and save a small bottle.. when ur done melting the skate, spray left over amount thats been diluted with warm water on slippery floor, scrub with deck broom and wash off.. you can thank me later… test a spot.. its what we used on our park floors! ❤
amazing, I wonder how a VX from Creature or Santa Cruz would hold up. I think VX is a sort of copycat tech. I've been riding Creature VX for a few years now and wonder how different they are.

I’d love to see if there is much of a difference when doing this test with a wood glue based deck, and an epoxy resin based one, when left in the acetone for 24 hours.

@BraileSkateboarding Carbon fiber is chemically stable, corrosion-resistant, and won't rust. That's why it works well in harsh environments. But strong oxidizing agents, such as hydrogen peroxide or sulfuric acid, may affect it. Likewise, epoxy resin is inert and won't rust or corrode.
You guys know you can just buy gallon jugs of acetone (nail polish remover) at Home Depot or Lowe's right...?
We told them years ago that nail polish remover is basically Acetone with added perfume in it YEARS AGO. You could buy acetone much cheaper and comes in bigger container from hardware stores easily. But these guys still don't listen. And the thing is Aaron Kyro builds houses!!! Surely he knows about this!!! Here is an example of Tik Tok dumb waayyy before Tik Tok became famous.
What kind of resin does Powell Peralta Flightdeck use? Seems to have more chemical resistance than normal decks, would it work in a wood deck if so would it react the same or are the carbon fibers actually the reason? I'm curious
I'm not sure of the type, but a few companies use resin in wood decks.

I think you could have bought larger bottles of remover from a beauty supply shop they usually have pallet loads cause they sell to (salons Hair and nail)

It hasn't altered the board because the carbon fibre and wood is soaked in epoxy resin which is waterproof so the acetone can't get in to loosen the wood.
Could've skated It more and went up on the roof . Also.... Keep looking for the bungee 👀 and get more liquid nitro! 😅🔥
