Cox'n and then Stroke, ''57-'63. South Kent School, CT. I remember our wooden Pococks and Garafollas (sp?). Absolutely supremely beautiful boats.. One of our sheds had a sagging roof at the time and the floorboards would creak as we took out a "barge" or a four w/cox'n. God, what fun! Taking 'em out of the water at the end of practice usually resulted in a small bath. One Sunday morning, I "borrowed" the Headmaster's skull and took it out... I think it was a Garafolla. Sweet! Believe it or not, a rowiing club was formed on the Great Salt Lake back in the 80's? and lasted a few years! I begged 'em to let me take a run in one of their glass skulls and was permitted. 75 years old and I'm exercisiing on a rowing machine. Can't afford a boat! Cheers!
