I will say as a girl, if the roommate story was reversed and it was a guy walking in on a naked girl after being asked to stop, it'd be treated different. Like I bet if the blonde girl was dealing with a guy randomly barging into her room she'd have a very different reaction. I disagree cuz nobody said the roommate was in the right in that situation everyone literally agreed that she was a creep. But he also went to 0 to 100 with the retaliation and others really have no context as if the guy had called her out before or told anyone else to talk to her
And it really was a very social media response because there is indeed the mentality that if people bother you and cross a line then any kind of response that gives drama or entertainment then is ok no matter what.
All that they said before was that there are ways to retaliate as there are to anything, right?, she does deserve to be called out and a comeuppance but the execution and the manner is poor and it leads to misunderstandings that clearly affected him too

The double standards and immediate "benefit of the doubt" towards the gf in the roommate one made my eye twitch. As a woman myself, she knew the risks. Barging into my room is my BIGGEST pet peeve. She mocked and joked sbout the risk of seeing him exposed, "but I didn’t teehee" that is so immature. And I bet you 100 dollars that if he went out drinking one night, got home, stripped and just passed out on top of his bed to sleep the alcohol off. I do not only bet, but I KNOW. The gf would claim the exact same bullshit. There are no "skipped steps" in that one. Knocking is common human and social courtesy. He should've even HAVE to establish the boundary of KNOCKING and not barging into their room multiple times. There is no need for "more context" it's common sense. And to compare this to BEING FLASHED/FLASHING?? Again, as a woman. No, not the right comparison even in this context. NTA 100%!!!

For the insulin story: I think the worst part was that OP didn’t plan on telling his roommate that he took her insulin out, he was planning on her being gone and not coming back before he could put the stuff back. As a type 1 diabetic myself, that story TERRIFIED me and is the exact reason I do keep a mini fridge in my room specifically for insulin. Keeping it in the wrong temp environment can make it not effective at lowering ur blood sugar and can lead to DKA which is fatal without medical intervention(i myself have stayed in the ICU twice after developing DKA, a week each time) and dka can go from 0 to 60 in less than a day. You may not die that day, but you would be puking and possibly becoming comatose without access to effective insulin. And here in the US, it could cost hundreds/thousands to replace.

He shouldn't be taking heat because he didn't deal with being sexually harassed the "right way." Women can also be manipulative creeps, and I think that's exactly what she was doing. And door lock alternatives aren't actually that easy. Some look okay but others are excessive. An actual lock is the best lock. Had she listened to him, his "trap" never would have worked. To me thats similar to a situation where you tell someone dont touch the pot its hot, and they touch it anyway. Its not your fault they get burned, if they refuse to listen. And its his room, he can sleep however he likes or do whatever he likes. If she walks into an unwanted situation after being warned, she only has herself to blame. Why does OP have to protect his own privacy in his OWN space? The verdict on the second story really irks me. I’ve never really had a problem with any of these episodes, but I hard disagree with them. The guy told the roommate’s gf that he sleeps naked in his room, and yet every single time he explicitly notified her to not barge in while he’s asleep, she rubs it off nonchalantly with a smirk and says “but I didn’t.” She is barging in unannounced every morning while he’s asleep comfortably, without knocking or making herself known before entering. That puts him in a very uncomfortable and vulnerable position. As it would with anyone with a sense of privacy.
Like bruh, that is HIS room. HIS rules. HIS boundaries. HIS privacy. HIS right to do whatever the hell he wants in the safety of HIS own room. He’s all about privacy and she should respect that. Think about it. She KNOWS about how he sleeps. She KNOWS the risk, and she chose to completely ignore it consistently because she deemed it as not a problem. Sometimes, a real life demonstration really is the last resort. It shouldn’t have to be a solution at all, but it’s unfortunate how it goes to that length sometimes.

Moving away from the moral standpoint it just wasn't a great idea. His intention was to shock her and he succeeded. This success has high chance of breaking up his living arrangement. Fine. But this sounds like it was his second resort. Should he have had to do anything more than tell her once? No. But sometimes it's not about whether it's your responsibility or whether you should have to work to prevent a problem that you didn't cause, it's about "hey, do I want to be on good terms with my room mate's girlfriend, who I might be seeing frequently, possibly for years?" and i think there's a universe where he doesnt have to nuke this relationship with her (and his room mate) AND gets his right to privacy. We don't know though, because he didn't try anything else. Again, he shouldn't have to, but life doesnt always work like that. And hey, the nuclear option is always still on the table if you need it.

Legitimately can not believe y’all tried to call the guy sleeping naked in his own room that he pays for in the wrong. Honestly seems like crazy mental gymnastics to demonize the dude.

Their take on the story with the girl walking in on the guy naked is so weird. He's in his OWN room and she's walking in without warning. If she respected his privacy she wouldn't have seen anything. She repeatedly dismissed his concerns about that he sleeps naked regularly.

For the no knock roommate, he clearly told them not to do that because he told her "what if I was naked" so obviously he's made it clear she shouldn't do that

The guy who slept naked on the covers should not be required to let her know that he's going to sleep naked above the covers. Courtney was somewhat wrong about the flashers using the argument that she walked in because he's literally in his own personal space. She was absolutely in the wrong and he was absolutely in the right. He did something that he is under no obligation whatsoever to tell anyone and she is under an obligation to knock before entering. Y'all were wrong on that one. No more context was needed

2nd story: nope. SHE'S the asshole, he tried to set a boundary, she crossed it, he told her what the consequences would be for crossing it and she faced them. That's just how it fucking is.
She WANTED to see it. He told her what would happen and she did it anyways KNOWING full well that was a possibility. You guys are in the wrong, sorry. You don't want to see someone's genitals? DON'T BARGE INTO THEIR PRIVATE BEDROOM. He shouldn't HAVE to explicitly say "Don't barge into my room". He's not in the wrong at all. Nta nta nta.

Let's put Story 2 in another perspective:
So let's say you're walking around your own house naked. No one is in there with you and you're just chilling but then a friend of yours who knows you keep your back gate unlocked just comes over unannounced and just stumbles across you naked.
Is it YOUR fault for being naked or THEIR fault for trespassing/coming in without warning or being invited? Really silly to tell people they can't do as they want in their own personal space. As a woman, the girl in the story was completely at fault. The guy had a right to just be how he was as it isn't a common space and his door was closed. Icky to me that y'all sympathized with the girl. She was 100% at fault.

It’s more like staying naked when you know that someone might be coming over. I agree, I side with the OP in that one, he had every right to be naked and got his revenge, but he did expose himself with the INTENTION of being seen, which makes it a little messy even though his reasons didn’t seem creepy whatsoever.
Like, being alone at your house naked on the day that your nosy friend always shows up around noon because you’re sick of them showing up unannounced and not getting dressed purposefully so they’ll stop. There’s a couple steps in there that involve talking to them and setting boundaries that we don’t really know how well OP did before jumping to proving his point that way. Just my two cents to why I think it’s reasonable to sympathize with the girl’s POV, even though I do agree, she’s absolutely TA here.

@@j.genovese1769 but he didnt INVITE her over/inside. What would the difference be if he slept on top of the covers this time bc he was hot and she walked in? Or if the blankets had come off? Yes he intentionally did it, but it was a situation that COULD have happened regardless and she had been TOLD he sleeps naked and could have seen him naked and she giggled and laughed it off, straight up disrespecting his boundaries and wishes. If it had been a guy instead of a girl, he'd be a pervert for going into her room without knocking. Keep the same energy. She was wrong 100%.

      @nonpondo_ Před rokem +24

@@Ryder021 the issue is he said he did it on purpose, this isn't about who's right and wrong, it's about OP being stupid, he had the upper hand and he squandered it, he fumbled the bag, he missed the shot, there's like 9 routes he could have taken to be in the right and he somehow messed it up

It’s kinda crazy how many people are split on the girl walking the the roommates room and his response. The only thing he changed was that he didn’t put his cover on. No matter her reasoning or acting like that. That grown woman chose to disrespect and violate every boundary that man had. Even with multiple warnings that were given. Also he shouldn’t have to talk to the boyfriend she is a grown woman and he communicated with her on multiple occasions. If anything it is weird they attack the man and not the fact that this taken woman continues to violate this man’s space knowing he could be naked after warnings.

Everyone here kinda whiffed the ball on story 2:
“He DiDnT sAy He AsKeD hER tO kNocK” YES HE DID. RIGHT HERE 10:01 Are you seriously trying to claim that since he didn’t type the exact words “I asked her knock first” that OP *never suggested that?*
Courtney saying “you did do it to get your mental rocks off” girl, come on. You *know* that’s not what that means. I also find it hilarious that Courtney’s dogging this dude for what she believes is exposing himself, when she has literally flashed her co-workers *on camera* multiple times. Glass houses and all that.
To all I say: he warned her this would happen.
