The Premier League (PL) season has come to an end and Tottenham finished 5th in the table securing European football in the shape of Europa League as they missed out on the Champions League by two points.
And after losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer it was not the easiest of first seasons at Spurs for former Celtic, Yokohama F. Marinos, Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory and Australia national team coach Ange Postecoglou.
With injuries, suspensions an undefeated start to the season and players going to AFCON and the Asian Cup it had its ups and down.
So today I will be reviewing Tottenhams season in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup (League Cup) as well and giving it a score out of 10!
Tottenham have been linked with the signing of Nottingham Forest and former Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi by Paul O Keefe
The Premier League is heating up with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Bournemouth, Burnley, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Luton Town, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Wolves aka Wolverhampton Wanderers - with Ipswich Town, Leicester City and either Leeds United or Southampton joining them.
Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham squad include Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Emerson Royal, Yves Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojberg, Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil, Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-Min (손흥민) Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr, Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington, Ashley Phillips, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur, Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence, Ryan Sessegnon, Micky van de Ven, Timo Werner, Radu Dragusin, James Maddison and Dane Scarlett, Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz, Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, Alfie Whiteman, Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon, Lucas Bergvall and Luka Vuskovic.

I think 5th is fantastic. If we qualified for CL, I don't think we have the player depth to make a difference & may cause more scrutiny. Ange has said he needs 4 windows at least.......Hopefully this summer we can add some more quality players. The players arrive at 5am in Melbourne, Tuesday morning (8pm Monday UK time). It's a bit cool in Melbourne min 8 deg to 15 deg during the day and cloudy...
Good end to the season and not a minute too soon! I was getting rather exhausted by the recent form. I did predict 66 points when we had five games to go. I only saw us beating Burnley and Sheffield Utd. Sadly we couldn't beat Liverpool, Chelsea and City at the end. Must strengthen the squad over the summer. Europa League is the right testing ground for the squad as it is. But we have to strengthen for a charge at the CL next season plus a trophy. Im so happy that all those "pundits" who predicted a dire season without Kane have been proved so wrong!
we go again - have you got a rating?
@@SonnyTalksSpurs 7/10 Sonny
Same as me 🙏
Australian Spurs (& Ange) fan and I agree the trip to Melbourne is not ideal for the players (and the staff). But marketing demands it, and Melbourne is not only Ange’s home town, it’s also a World sporting capital. Hopefully no injuries…
very true
Very smart marketing though. Think about how massive Spurs is in Korea now. There's opportunity to capture a massive new fan base in Australia too, like me :)
Spurs heading to Korea as well
over achived considering most peoples expectations at start of the season 8/10
Felt an overachievement to me!
A solid B overall. The team improved over last season. It's a WIP but as I mentioned previously there were some very low points throughout the season with very high points. Kane left on deadline day, which kind of messed up the recruitment. Every signing has shown flashes but other than VdV I struggle to name one who did it consistently but generally positive overall. So in terms of recruitment it's a B. As for Ange and I'm saying this as an unabashed Ange supporter, also a B. Handled the media great, style is great, half time adjustments have been great and generally make a difference. Problem is I'd like to see better starts to games so the team isn't chasing down games. I'd like to see better set piece defending.
Some great points here
Going with an 8/10. So close to UCL but easy points lost against Everton, West Ham etc.
Very strong ranking - would ucl have made it a 9?
Thanks for being level-headed. We've had a good season overall and lots to look forward to next season. I swear to god some of these Spurs channels will not be happy until everyone else is as miserable as they are.
cheers mate and hahah made me laugh that - what is your score?
@@SonnyTalksSpurs Just don't appreciate the incessant negativity from some of these channels, like the one you had a debate with recently. lol
@@SonnyTalksSpurs Overall, I would give our season a 7.5/10. Was expecting conference league, ended up with Europa, can't complain.
that is a good score and I just say what I see - I can see both sides of the argument - but like to stay positive and enjoy my football
Big up Sonny ! For me it’s an 8 actually.
Then again I was very pessimistic at start of season
Oh wow very strong
if you had told me we would bring in 2 great CB and a decent GK but we would ship goals like a pub team I would have cried :(
It’s our midfield that needs sorting
It's OK saying start of the season it's successful, but 4th was there and we messed it up.
4th was there without the injuries the red cards, the African Cup and tbe Asian cup, next season , you will see a stronger Chelsea, a better Newcastle, z better Utd. And then we really need to be rezlistic, all of that cannot be blamed on the manager, what you say is the football is great to watch, I loved the City game even though we lost, it showed a teamm stzrting to take shape, that makes me positive about Ange and his building, he got rid of many who I thought were too lightweight, and the rest will now follow.
we are on the right track imo
8.2
very strong - why is that?
My rate is 8/10 Ange proved all of us wrong. And now I’ve got a question for you Sonny…Would you sign Werner permanently? And would you give Manor Solomon a second chance after being 100% recovered from his injury?
If you can get a fee for Solomon I would get rid - he’s probably not the quality we would need - Werner for £15m as a bench option makes sense as he’s better than say Gil but we still need to bolster the forward line
@@SonnyTalksSpurs I think Solomon is good. Remember he delivered 2 assist against Burnley. He was brilliant I’d personally give him a second chance.
Perhaps
@@SonnyTalksSpurs Hey Sonny I just learned Pedro Neto was called up for international duty, if he performs brilliantly we may consider signing him. What do you think?
he is being heavily linked with a few clubs - i do worry for his injury record
Sonny to put the season in a few words we had 10 Game start Gary O neail told Sky sports how to beat Angie ball & that was end of season
so what would be your rating?
@@SonnyTalksSpurs I really Dont want to get into Discussion of Rating Not really a fan of Angie ball & what this proves we should have backed Antiono Conte who i really liked as a manger he knew what players to buy levy thought otherwise he did not want Richarlson Djed Spence
Right-Back was not keen on Maddson he employed best set pieces coach from Europe first job Angie did was sack him put Ryan Mason in chargeand you ask for ratings
But surely Conte was. short term fix and he did not want to stay
@@SonnyTalksSpurs Why He did not want to stay Levy and the Board Decided not to back him & ignore Conte Advise on players to Buy can you blame him
Albert Einstein.once Said it's a sign of : 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
Angie are you going to change we all thought against man city we have changed tactics then we play Sheffield United back to same same
I’m glad he’s not longer our manager
It will be nice for you lot to have to interrupt sleep for a change 🤣🤣🤣
you an aussie?
@@SonnyTalksSpurs Yeah mate and I could not get from Newcastle to Melbourne for the game (work) but I have set up the crisps, beers and big TV: 7:45pm tomorrow (Wed) evening for me!
Hahaha love it
