    Go to Primark, they sell base layers for £4 - £6 e.g long John's , fitted top etc ,

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  Před 6 lety +2

      Steven
      If you can get a base layer for £6.00 go for it. Nobody wants to pay over the odds but I tried some cheap ones recently and the fabric was heavier and it tended to ride up and leave my lower back exposed.
      Don't forget that work clothes and safety wear (as described on the invoice) are tax deductible.

      They are rubbish though, wouldn’t even bother getting the snickers stuff either just get merino wool ones from an outdoor shop. Be around £50 per pair. Anyone who claims £4 cotton ones work haven’t done anything physical in the cold. They are fine for walking the dog though.
      It’s all down to breathability as well, there is not point wearing them when you start sweating in them as well.

      I am in the soft South East. This is just an average day for our Northern comrades but Southerners make such a fuss. Hardly any sites are working but I need the money. My wife needs more shoes.

    Honestly used snickers for 10 years plus. Not so sure the quality is the same recently with its new owners but in all fairness the customer service is flawless, rang with an issue not expecting much to be informed a replacement pair will be with me soon. They do get some stick though 12 hrs 7 days some times.

    I have found out that biggest issue on cold is work boots.
    I was a bit cheapskate and bought winter boots with steel toe guard and steel nail step guard. Next time i wont be and will buy boots that has composite guards, i have heard that those are much warmer.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  Před 6 lety

      True. We are doing something on boots and should have added that point. Ass you spend more they all tend to be lighter and composite

    Okay this one is to protect.... what about a first aid or emergency help at a work place? Lets say you have a nail nailed in your hand or the well protected part of a body to sit... what to do? Broken hand bones bleeding head or an eye is hurt... thanks for thinking about it! Kind regards from Switzerland

      Hi Lewis
      Let us assume this lot cost £400.00. Trades in the London area earn anywhere between £150 and £280 per day.
      Assume on that money you pay 40% tax on everything over £45,000 and every item I am wearing is tax deductible.
      You either spend it or give it to the tax man and the tax man won't keep you warm.

    • @hartsymk1
      @hartsymk1 Před 6 lety

      lucky for them!! i wish i was up london way im only on £70 lol never a truer word spoken .. the tax man certainly wont keep you warm lol in all honesty id give anything to stay warm the few day! snow has been crazy .. any tip on keeping your feet warm ?? :)
