"I'm not the type of person to chase after you. But, I'm a father now. The father always pursues." *Powerful* statement! Great video as always, thank you!
But... I'm a father now. The Father always pursues. He always chases after... He leaves the 99 to get the 1. He abandons his dreams, for the security of his family. He sacrifices everything... Even his pride. --Glen Henry 'Beleaf'
I saying that touch my soul!!! I don’t know my father but hearing a black father say that about his kids and U have a daughter brought tears to my eyes. It’s not easy just as motherhood isn’t. But u do cause u love your kids and make the sacrifices and never give up. Thank u for allowing me to see on film what a good black father looks like cause the world needs to see this.
I almost cried 3:05 in; “For kids like Theo, who need to be pursued, they want effort, not perfection and when you make an effort they feel like they belong”.... I love how observant, patient, and understanding you are with yourself and others. How you recognize and respect that your children aren’t just YOUR children, but also their Own persons, with human emotions and needs. Keep it up!
This says what I wanted to say. Thank you Shania Simone. I enjoy and appreciate how woke your parenting is; makes me think about how I am dealing with younger personalities and how I could up my game. Thank you for these videos and the thought that goes into them!! 😊
I love and respect the evolution. Your progression with a sensitive kid like Theo is a trail-blazing example of how to love a sensitive child. Its healing for the community. Thank you Beleaf to you and your family! Blissings!
Wild Free & Tangled Fairy oh you put words to my thoughts well said. ’It's healing to the community’. As I watched I loved that Beleaf recognized his son's heart and soul. Didn't force Theo to change but allowed him room to BE and adapted his Fathering to accommodate the character of his boy! You gave him permission to be his authentic self. If he has this environment to grow in he will not grow up to be an adult with a facemask or performance mentality! Thank you Henry family!
I cried laughing at the group photo with the kids moment; Anaya's face had me dying! 😂🤣😂 When Beleaf said he looks like he's getting jumped 💀💀💀 I really enjoyed how you pointed out the things you could have done differently. That's often really tough for a lot of parents to own, so that was refreshing to see.
Theo is a natural born leader it’s good for him to be confident and know his identity 💙.I agree not everything has to be exposed you do need privacy in y’all lives.
Anaya’s hair, her outfit, all of it, is EVERYTHING!!!l that photo shoot was pure comedy, I cackled so hard at Yvette yelling in the end! So funny and beautiful 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
I hope you guys are watching these ADs too to support the family! I made it 8 minutes into a 20 minute AD, I was too eager to watch for the whole thing. xD
Yo before I watch this video I literally said “I really love this family and they inspire me. Not because they are perfect because we’re all flawed. But bc they try and show effort with each other. I aspire to do that as a parent” thenBOOM you say it in the video. Idk something in my broke and had me crying like a baby for a minute. 1- bc I resonate with Theo and 2- the scripture reference of the father leaving the 99 for the one. Yea I’m watching this again tomorrow. I got a much needed smile out of this video. Thanks to you guys ❤️
I’m a cry baby so I oddly teared up watching this beautiful black love oooze from this video omg😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love your series on your son Theo by the way.
Not even half way through & I'm blown away. This was very insightful. I too have sinned against my sons with my tone, word choices, & posture. I gots a lot to work on. That statement, "The Father always pursues." rocked me. God is the initiator of relationship. Wow! Loved the Theo series. Didn't know about the HMAY podcast. I just subscribed & will be checking it out.
Your tone and posture seemed normal....More importantly, it seemed like Theo wanted to feel like he did a good job. So getting his brother to finish the job sends a message. Encouragement goes in hand in hand with reinforcement. acknowledging his effort with praise but pointing out where he fell short might have made a difference. There are some things he will not do throughly, not because of defiance or laziness but due to lagging skills etc. And thats ok. You're his coach! Keep on coaching and motivating him while he keeps learning. Side note... that track hit me so hard. I cant wait till I see you in mainstream TV sharing your music and dreams. Great work fam!
I was raised with a father who yelled and hit and used intimidation to make me do what he wanted. he would always say “this is a dictatorship, not a democracy.” and would make me feel unworthy and small. watching how kind you are to your kids is therapeutic, thank you for these videos.
Theo’s cut in the beginning has a profound impact, I believe. I also think the narrative in this video is relevant and important for others to see. I think we struggle with these experiences as adults often (tone, word choice, body language, & effort) and don’t consider how reconciliation and inclusivity applies. You’ve touched on a lot of great points and while, yes, everything may not be necessary to share with us, I think this entire video comes full circle. Theo IS a leader. And watch how as soon as the baby was in his hands, without Yvette, his siblings immediately followed suit to help him, as you said in them beginning of the video. Well done cuzzo.
I looooooovvvvvveeeee y'all's photos and how you incorporated nature! I think it's dope that you acknowledged your areas of improvement as a father. A lot of parents don't believe they have room to grow. Anaya's such a smart, confident girl! #ChocolateBabies
Anaya is so beautiful! I look forward to her happiness which is exuded almost always! It's so amazing how resilient and sensitive she is at the same time! This little girl is a Star!😊 All of these Beautiful chocolate Babies!!! God bless them all and Mom and Dad in the Light and Love of Jesus!
You are an amazing father, I recently got divorced and the ex see's his sons once a year if they are lucky, so with the help of God im raising 2 sons, and sometimes I get tired and get fed up, this helps me get up and do better with them
As a father of 4 kids myself, 3 boys and a girl, I can truly relate with you on this matter. I'm terribly struggling with my firstborn... he's 10+ and I sometimes feel like we're missing something. I make sure to find reconciliation whilst trying to critique him for not being responsible💯 Thank you for sharing
I think being the oldest gives you a certain sense of laziness, at least from my own personal experience. I always wished that I had someone that took the time to go through things with me. My mom always forced me to figure it out myself therefore allowing me to create my own bad habits
I have to say this is one of my favorite episodes its teaching a lot to someone who will eventually go through this I like were you were going in this episode
Absolutely Beautiful, I wanted to say so much but all ima say is God is so good. Love never fails, it endures FOREVER even when we feel we have absolutely nothing else.
I’m in tears! You have done what you set out to do! You have given us a beautiful, strong and positive image of not only a black father who is handling his business, but, of a healthy black family. Ish happens to which you are not afraid to admit your faults and you’re thoughtful enough to consider your children’s feelings which is often a challenge with parents around the world. You just may have inspired someone to think about how they interact with their children. The idea is never to break them down, but, to inspire them to be great! Your children will be eternally grateful for the way you show up in your role as a father to them. This was one of my favorite episodes. Much love to all of you.
Theo seems like such a good kid and good brother. Makes me so happy and warm looking at how he treates his siblings. Y'all doing such a good job parenting
I love that pic! 💞Loved Anaya's maternal instinct coming out! Uriah screamed out w a warning that Uzi would fall and Anaya swooped in to the rescue! The photo was more "organic" and precious as a result! Beautiful Family!!!😊Loved the reference to The Prodigal Son as well. Yes, a Loving Father does pursue just as our Heavenly Father does!🙌 Amen.
Wow! That statement he sacrifices everything even his pride...im in tears. May God bless us all the security and love we need to provide for our families. To all those who read this comment, I pray that God gives you security and happiness.
I absolutely love this series! You guys are doing an awesome job. Thank you so much for taking the time to put out such wonderful content. May God continue to bless everything that you touch. Much love!💜💜
I just stumbled upon your channel, but I'm already in love with your family. Communication, responsibility, trust, care and lots of love. Glad you recognize your own mistakes as a father and work on fine toning the great skills you already have.
I like this series concept ! I appreciate that you are candid but also protective of where he is right now. It will change and undoubtedly they will all go through growing pains, life isn't perfect and it's a good thing to acknowledge that sometimes. Y'all are great, your kids are great and i love your content!
Really enjoyed this webisode Glen! I feel like you focused on a less covered topic - reconcile with your kids! Such a great tool to be able to look back and reflect like you always do and teach.
