Teaching our children to be brave is a significant part of parenting, but sometimes I'm guilty of rewarding courageousness and rebuking our children when they fear. Maybe I'm the only one that does this but here's what I learned about becoming a safe haven for my children fears.
Giving your children a safe place to be scared is the responsible thing to do. When we get scared our sympathetic nervous system takes over and sends adrenalin throughout our entire bodies, this triggers the fight or flight response. This response is involuntary, if your child's sympathetic nervous system views you as a source of protection then you should be honored to embrace and protect them. I've learned (even since the shooting of this video) that instead of telling the kids not to be scared, that it's okay to tell them what they can do when they are scared.
But they won't do that initially, our children respond to fear how they see us respond to it…

When the children got a chance to express what they were feeling on camera. They were just so happy that you asked, and they were heard.

My favorite part of the video is when Riah says, "You're not scared, Spider-Man is never scared." You can conquer so much when you're loved, not belittled, through your fears. Family is important and it's obvious because he really didn't want you all taking a pic without him.

Definitely shows their approach to life. Theo is a thinker and Uriah is a free spirit. Even though Theo was afraid he knew he could trust his parents to help him through. And Aniya is definitely her own person. 100% team Aniya!

This weird thing happens to me with every vlog... doesn't matter where I am, what kind of day I am having or how tired I might be after a shift...I can't help it, can't control it...my face lights up with a HUGE smile and sometimes, like today, I scream and cheer, OUT LOUD!!! Stares? Yep! Do I care? Nope! I am getting my Beleaf On and all is right in the world! Excellent video! I had a ton of little love nuggets! Theo's bravery and humor, Uriah's facial expressions, cause this middle child knows that salty expression well! Anaya's camera conversation and her light up the heart smile! I am all about Team Beleaf! The scream for Uzi when Glenn stumbled. Glenn and Yvette's couple banter and laughter! I really like that each child is getting "camera time" to express their thoughts. LOVED THIS ❤️ and I am still grinning with a full light heart. Like, Thanks I needed that!

Love the parenting of each child differently and appropriate to each child. Uriah was ready to get over those rocks and you encouraged it. Theo was a bit skeptical and you gave encouragement also. 💜

Thank you for this beautiful video. I NEEDED to see this. When you started talking about fear, it all made sense. I've been letting fear be the reason I don't go 100% in my creative career. God has given me a true gift, and I've let the spirit of fear taint that. No more. I will face my fears head on with the power that I know I have over those said fears. Because as i get older, what I've come understand is that once you slay one fear, the others become that much easier to slay as well. Thank you again for this. Sometimes as content creators, we don't know how our work affects other humans. I wanted to let you know from my heart what this content did for me today. Blessings to your family and journey. ♥️

I liked this video because very important lessons were taught, basically to overcome your fears by pushing forward with the help and encouragement of your family. The lesson taught today during this hike will prove invaluable when your children become adults. So many people have fears in life that are crippling and don't allow them to live life to it's fullest or explore their fullest potential. The best example of crippling irrational fears are phobias.. Fear is an important emotion because it is necessary for survival so that we don't put ourselves in dangerous situations but when it prevents you from doing something productive fear is not your friend. In life we are all going to experience challenges that invoke fear or doubt within ourselves but when we believe in ourselves we can conquer anything. And today your boys learned to face their fears and conquer them. Great life lesson taught.

I'm from the south and I know that everyone doesn't agree with it BUT it teaches the children a respect/honour for adults that cannot be denied. It's just a question/ observation - I promise you that it is NOT a put down, by no means. I raised 3 sons - ( 33, 30, 26) and that is one of the many compliments that is given - how respectful they are, even now as adults. Again, I love your family.
