Just got the core set as a gift and can't wait to start playing, glad to have your videos to guide somebody very new and very clueless to the game. Looking forward to watching more of your tutorials.
I recently bought the game and your videos are really really helpful and are helping me learn fast and I keep referring to them. Good content, thanks for showing.
This is fantastic. I'm terrible at spatial recognition, but really loving X-Wing. Stuff like this doesn't register for me until I see it (and even then not as much), but the explanation means I can use it without seeing it. ;)
Thanks for the video! I've played X-wing a few times, and I'm ready to play again now that I've I picked up some great tips in reference to flying in formation!
Very helpful pointers! Thank-you very much for taking the time to make this info available to us, I'm already putting your strats to good use! Much appreciated and rock on, dude.
For the bumping of the ships (or the table for that matter) I bought some of that thin, spongy shelf liner (also used in toolboxes to keep tools from sliding around) and adhered it to the bottom of the bases with double sided sticky tape. Gives the ships "grip" on the table. Works like a charm. The standard thickness is perfect - lifts the ship's base off the table just a tiny bit but when it comes time to maneuver, you just put a little pressure down and the maneuver template will still work without going under the base. Feels solid and is a life saver if you enjoy a little libation while playing but want to protect yourself from sloppy play. 😜
Thank you so much for this video! I've only had one intro game before picking up the starter set this week (and having a game by myself at home to get the rules to sink in better). I'm going to show this video to some of my friends who are getting into the game as well I think it'll help us all.
In regards to the large ships, when the smaller ship is following the bigger through a turn (ie: ends up behind the big ship) the idea that the big ship "moves faster" doesn't matter because the way the big ship moves faster is by the front of its base moving an extra smallship length. Wile the smallship is behind the big ship, the place to be concerned with is the back side of the big ship's base, so in effect it has moved the same distance as the back of a smaller ships base. Food for thought
Thanks! I plan on getting back into the game again. Been collecting all the ships, but haven't had time to focus on new strategies and concepts. Seems like this game keeps getting better and better!
Fyi for people time traveling from 2021 and are confused about some of the 1.0 movement rules, you could fly through your own ships in 1.0 - this was removed in 2.0 and you "bump into" the ship and move backward along the move template.
Very well done and thought out. The only thing I'd mention to try and fix the video "flashing" is you probably have one of the colour settings on automatic. Changing that will most likely solve the constant changing of colours when you're moving around.
Just to clarify and reiterate other people's points about this, there is no "crashing" or "colliding" into ships. If your ship's base overlaps an enemy ship's base at the end of it's maneuver (they're right on top of each other), it cannot target it. Ships can pass through other ships when making a maneuver, and ships can shoot through other ships. They cannot be used as "cover" or a shield. The only thing ships can crash into are asteroids, which only deal one hit and take away that ship's action.
Good job with the video, very informative (although anyone who has played the game will have worked out all this already within their first few matches). One small point of contention though. The big ships don't have larger bases because they move faster, rather they have more mass and therefore take longer to overcome their inertia.
It's not possible to "bank" your ships in the same maneuver . Think of it as a train pulling it's rake. When the train turns, the coaches don't turn with it. If your planes need to bank and follow the flight pattern, the first ships will execute the turns as you showed but the back ships will have to fly 1 space straight. On the next turn, your back planes will turn as your front ships but your front ships will then only move 1 space straight. This means that squadrons are not as agile as single fighters and turning can be tedious and slow. I guess that's accurate to what a real battle would be like since individual ship in a flight pattern has less space to maneuver and can't really dodge enemy fire without crashing into friendly ships. A squad of Tie-fighters will easily be outflanked by a band of rouge X-wings. The trick is to know when to break up your squad and keep them in groups of 2.
Oh I have seen so many people make these mistakes. Good that there is someone out there pointing out the finer details about movement and explaining why these crashes happens. I guess a lot of the finer details are a bit counter intuitive for players. But you illustrate it well.
you can set up turns more easily if you set up not in a rigid square formation - but kinda like the aperture of a camera lens... slightly offset in a kindof loose diamondy square... still can be pretty tight..
This is why the star wars franchise is very realistic: If you want to be a commander, you play x wing the board game, if you want to be a starfighter pilot, you play playstation vr x wing mission rogue one, if you want to be a jedi, you go to disneyland/disney world and go to the trials of the temple, or you buy the lenovo lightsaber training, or you can just buy a lightsaber and train with it.
I'm sorry but i think i need some advanced tips. How do you continue to move your squad after the first hard turn? Do i get it right, that its impossible to stay in formation with banking movements? A documention of 3 or 4 turns in a formation would be nice. Is it possible to keep them in formation, even if they have differend polot skills?
There's also some good strategy articles and in depth card/unit reviews at both the metal bikini and team covenant (can't post links) for more strategy stuff :-)
Can anyone answer if you are allowed to pre-move your ship (without using the template) to check distance/ possible conflicts? Or do they need to remain fixed in place until the actual move takes place?
Unfortunately not, you can only use the template once you’ve already decided on your movement. So it’s good to get an idea of the different sizes and curvatures before hand.
Thanks a lot for that video. As a beginner in X-Wing I really appreciate. BTW I think your video is flashing because it tries to adjust automatically the white balance. So every time your arms get in focus the white balance might be adjusted. Setting a fixed white balance might prevent flashing.
I like the tutorial but it loses a little bit in practicality because the TIEs dont have the 1 bank. Thanks for the hard work man. Really good info.Cheers.
All the way from X-Wing 2.0, thank you for making this!
You’re still an absolute legend for making these

Thanks for a really good video, I'm buying the core set very soon, and watching your video will really help me for my game days.

This is awesome
Man, I was already a fan of your Go videos, great to see you talking about X-Wing!

I"m a noobie to X-Wing and this is AWSOME info. Thanks
It's great listening to you and I will surely spice up the next casual round with some of your tips.
Thanks very much for these. Looking forward to watching and sharing them all.

You had me at Go.
Thanks for these. I've gone beyond noob status and amassed my collection, but I keep coming back to this and practicing.
Great cast! Thank you. You saved me a lot of time examining the movement.
Thanks! I plan on getting back into the game again. Been collecting all the ships, but haven't had time to focus on new strategies and concepts. Seems like this game keeps getting better and better!
Hey I just started following your vids on X-Wing game. I must say bravo this helped a lot and keep up the great work!
Many thanks! Brand new player here, needed the tips. Will watch more!
I have been playing x-wing for a long time and just now found it. everything you said hold up perfectly in 2.5!
Been playing Go for years, also my favorite strategy game ever, just started playing X-wings... you have my full attention.
Just got into the game with 2.0 and this is incredibly useful. Thank you
I created my own version of Thrawn Marc Sable Manouver and it works really good with a corvette and 5 or 6 ties
I;m playing later tonight with a friend and getting into a campaign in july...this tutorial is such a huge help in how to move about in this game
Simple tips but as a new player they gave me tons of insight. Thank you
Thank you for this series of tutorials! Newbies like me need lots of help!
I've played a few battles with a friend and did these very basic mistakes. So this video was very enlightening. Thank you!
Very helpful! Thanks man!
Thanks for sharing your tips. It really helped me understand some basic principles. I hope you do some more videos.
Great video, learned a lot! Cheers!
Very nice. Just found this game! Massive Star Wars and Warhammer fan. Thanks for the vid looking forward to watching them all!

Thank you this was very helpful!
awesome that you play this game! I like to watch your go channel, and was pleasantly suprised by you in this vid!

Barry Stroud It is actually because they are bigger so they need a bigger base to keep them stable and support their weight.
Great video!
I'm pretty new to the game, so this was pretty enlightening. Thanks for posting, and I look forward to your other videos!
Great tutorial! Learnt alot from this.
Nice video. Thanks!
Very enlightening. Thanks for the vids.
Thank you for these man!

Very good videos, keep the good work. Im new to the game and your videos helped me a lot.. Thx.
Very helpful thanks!
Thanks for a very useful video sir! Looking forward to watching the rest in the series.
Very useful tutorial, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for making this video if i hadn't seen this i would have found this out the hard way
Great info. ty
Thanks for this. Want to be a better player so looking forward to the rest of the series

I swear I can hear some ships fly-by at the 15:24 mark
Very useful video. It saves new player lot's of learning a hard way.
I wish I found these videos earlier I absolutely suck at this game but it's really fun so I don't quit but these help a lot
Good videos, keep them up! I promoted them in our forums.
Great strategy, especially for a newbie like me (just bought the game). Looking forward to watching your other videos.
Hoping to get this game soon, and it looks like these videos will help me be a good player, when i open the box
I've played a few times...and my formation flying has ....well...sucked. Basic tips, but they will change my game. Thanks!
Well done the video was very interesting and informative , it hard to do that l will subscribe and wacth more of your videos
I humbly request more.
SUPER !! Thks !!
Looks like I found this very late. But very useful thankyou
very helpful man!
Nice video; I play a lot of attack wing, and this is quite helpful.

How do you stay in formation when running ships with a lower PS to the rear.....say with Biggs?
This is why the star wars franchise is very realistic: If you want to be a commander, you play x wing the board game, if you want to be a starfighter pilot, you play playstation vr x wing mission rogue one, if you want to be a jedi, you go to disneyland/disney world and go to the trials of the temple, or you buy the lenovo lightsaber training, or you can just buy a lightsaber and train with it.
Thank you!
"Nice shot! Target destroyed!"
very helpful thanks
Thank you.
Great tutorial! It should be linked in the game manual! :)
Very useful, Cheers :)

found the video... nothing said :)
Thanks so much. You brought a lot of fun an took amay a lot of frustration of the game.
Welcome in 2022! Long live for X-wing! :D
How should 6 tie fighters be flown best 3 rows of 2 or 2 rows of 3? I'm thinking 3 rows of 2, but I'm very new at the game. Thank you.
Can a 2x2 (or more) squad all hard turn 1 and not crash? You mentioned 2 & 3 but is 1 too tight?
nice tutor, just bought 2 core sets
Can you make one tutorial to how to fly in formation with small and medium sizes please?
Could you show us how to fly in formations of three ships?
If you film with the camera opposite from you, then there's no camera issues, but it looks like you figured this out on your later videos.
There's also some good strategy articles and in depth card/unit reviews at both
the metal bikini and team covenant (can't post links)
for more strategy stuff :-)

awesome thank you, this will help the next time this old man tries to play against his son
Kewl correlation with go and ff x-wing! Wanna play a game in KGS?
Thanks a lot for that video. As a beginner in X-Wing I really appreciate. BTW I think your video is flashing because it tries to adjust automatically the white balance. So every time your arms get in focus the white balance might be adjusted. Setting a fixed white balance might prevent flashing.
We need this for Attack Wing!
It's essentially the same game (with worse paint!) So this'll have to do!
I like the tutorial but it loses a little bit in practicality because the TIEs dont have the 1 bank. Thanks for the hard work man. Really good info.Cheers.
why do not use a gamemat?
Anyone can you tell me what I should get.my choices Are Decimater, lambda class shuttle or Ghost
Decimator, kill everything
if you 3 bank with the slave at the end of the video it should make a better position and arc of fire is great to
Dude!
Cluster missiles wants to know your location 😏
