Imagine if every teacher you'd ever had was this knowledgable and patient...
True though unfortunately it’s not very easy having this level of patience for an entire class this is why schools can’t provide this level of education it’s pretty much only possible if it’s 1 on 1
This is the first time I've seen a rundown of the Light Hands technique that was actually explained in a way I understood
I highly recommend the book

Good vid (posting this after it being uploaded for less than 2 seconds)
Thats maximizing what that cars strengths are. Aero cars want speed, so making T1 that wide, thats just playing to its strengths. Great stuff.
Suillo is a phenomenal coach, idk if it's his classical training? Or if he has just been blessed by the maker. But he has a way of not just being able to dentify issues that will help, but he is able to even pick the things that will pay the biggest dividends first. I'm SURE that's what he ment by low hanging fruit. This is his way of saying "I'll see many things you could do to be quicker, but we're gonna grab a couple easier or obvious things that we will see a difference quickly"
I feel guilty o hvnt taken this course yet, when the benefits are so absolutely obvious. I need to overcome my anxiety snd just spend some time with the course
yep that is exactly what low hanging fruit means. what a good video overall
I truly wish every beginner sim racer could see this video and understand the importance of light hands it is probably the easiest thing to fix to make you miles faster. Took me 2 years of racing to understand this and when I did i wasn't even in my same league that I was!
Suellio doing so much for other people you’ve got to wonder if that’s even more rewarding than transitioning to real world driving himself.
Actually I have no doubt it’s helping others. Incredible video Suellio. No one is doing more for the community other than Matt Malone being the legend he is. 😉💪
Muito legal ver um brasileiro ensinando um Português enquanto eles se comunicam e produzem conteúdo em inglês, Acompanho random desde os 5k de inscritos, sucesso pra vocês!!
porra caralho fodase rapariga eh páh!! Valeu mano!
This is super easy to understand in karting IRL. There are people who complain about tired arms after a 25 minutes karting session after battling the steering all the time, basically braking with their arms. But as soon as you set up the trajectory towards easier steering and turn with brakes you just immediately go faster and don't get tired at all. In sim just set up the max force on you wheel and instead of finding the way through the corner with your wheel find it with your brakes.
I am proud of you fulfilling your dream of going from simracing into reallife racing, and I wish you the best to make a good paying career out of it.
Mega video Suelio, I was not able to hit consistently low lap times closer to my best laps, after the video i was super consistent and even lowered down my best lap by 0.4s, for sure much more improovement can be done but in 1 day maximixing a 1s consistency and hitting 0,.4 faster lap then before its already a win! Boa Professor!
Great tip. I have the same habit of holding the wheel harder when I brake, I actually pull on it, it's an automatic reaction from when I was using cheap pedals and a desk chair I think
Next should be Super GT. I'm sure he does not dare come here and test himself. You should have a leaderboard, like Jeremy used to have in Top Gear...same car, same track...after an hour of coaching by you! Keep it fun.
I feel like relaxing hands technique come naturally to people who started on a G29 wheel. The FFB is so subtle that you slowly let the wheel straighten itself out naturally as you turn in a corner. With a stronger wheel, you’re gripping on for dear life.
Nah definitely not, if you've been doing this all along you're just the exception :)
When the subtitles say "Automagically" too 😅
I don’t have iracing but I used raceroom and I found over 1+ seconds on track thank you for uploading these videos!
I've been using Raceroom as my entry into sim racing. It's a great sim, I've been concentrating on the f4's mostly but just recently expanded into the gt3 and 4 cars.
same, my first sim, since I was at Gran Turismo 4, 3 months ago...@@braveheart4603
@@braveheart4603 same pretty good sim for what you get in the game but I wish they had night mode, rain and better graphics tho
I remember having the conversation with you a number of years ago about Sterling Moss having very loose grip on the steering wheel - this must be why!! Top video & congrats on all you’ve achieved
And Robert Kubica said he was driving his F1 with kind of the tips of his finger
Mark Webber also talked a lot about driving with his "fingertips." I used to see it in a lot of his post qualy interviews, etc.
Very educational video, thanks suellio!
I had no idea about the iracing max torque and was doing the same thing! This video helped me a ton too!!!!
Aight so i decided to try this out and wow it actually helped a lot. Always had trouble trailbreaking and locking the fronts and practicing this I’ve had so few lockups in the session I just had. Thank you for this video!
Your videos are life changing bro. Ty so much for your content.
Absolutely spot on!!! This one video PUTS IT ALL TOGETHER!!! Suellio, thank you, thank you, thank you! What a great explanation of how the various forces from the brakes, engine braking, momentum, tire grip, driver input, and most importantly Force Feedback all work together. Steer less with the steering wheel and more with the accelerator and brake pedals.
I applied the concepts from this video, hopped in the MX-5, and cut off between 2 and 4 seconds at Lime Rock, Road Atlanta, and Oulton Park.
2sec at lime rock, wow :O
Two of my favorite content creators together! 😻😻😻
Broo,I love this video, this track is one of my worst, especially this turn. So inspiring, going back to practice
Amazing as always Suellio!!!!
Wow loved this explanation. Excellent content!
Suellio, you consistently present information in such an easily digestible way, it's crazy how good you are at breaking these concepts down and making them easily digestible for people. You have such a talent for coaching.
My life mission man!
Shoutout to RC!!! Got me into simracing because I wanted to drive mt akina after watching his touge videos 🙏🙏
Wow, Suellio! You are good, man! So adept at identifying issues. Even knowing his grip is too tight without even being in the same room 😊. There is no trace for wheel grip force 😅.
So humble and supportive in coaching, too. Thank you for all these videos. I love your real life racing videos as well. It's always great storytelling and production quality. I wish you all the success you deserve. 👏👏👏
I notice it throughout the vibrations on the wheel + tiny key moments of steering motions!! Thx man!
This technique has made such a huge difference in my trail braking.
Very brave choice for a car 😂 963, a le man prototype with no TC, no ABS and F1 levels of power, the fact he even had any control on that thing to begin with is quite the merit on its own
Very valuable video. Maybe one of the most I’ve ever seen on Yt. 💪
The light hands and specifically practicing granular braking while remaining relaxed was a magic bullet for my lap times. I've been trying to figure out why I've felt so fast all of a sudden and I think it's primarily that.
Amazing!, that helped me a lot too, thanks
Geesh man you have a lot of patience. Good stuff.
Awesome as always
Suellio, you my friend are an incredible teacher!
I love this content, you clearly know your stuff. I love that "oh my god" light bulb moments you have with so many people. Ok, can you give a rough idea for how much FFB I should be aiming for, I know you can't give super specifics but I general ish number to aim for. For example I currently have my base set at max which is 27nm for me, but I've found in games I have FFB set to 20% so I make the 5.4nm of FFB, should I be looking for a bit more?
best content ive seen on yt in a long time
another helpful tip for gtp drivers, if you have more then, front arb set to 1 and soft you are much much more likely to lock... almost always use this front arb in gtp but you still need to learn proper technique 💪
Hi Suellio, I just received my Logitech G PRO Racing Pedals (but I’m keeping the G920 wheel base) and WOW, they are great, gonna have to get used to them though! What do you suggest I do in order to improve and/or learn? I am quite familiar with trail braking and now with a load cell that will be great. I might be able to purchase your book too. Anything I should practice in the early stages?
What a cool collaboration 😊
some thing i heard before about the "string", is you imagine that string is connected from the brake pedal to teh bottom of the steering wheel, literally preventing you from braking 100% and turning 100% at the same time. forcing you to do a smooth ratio between the imputs? another i heard is that stirling moss said "you should only ever apply the throttle once in a turn. if you need to use it before the exit, you're doing it wrong" (paraphrased). i think you basically taught both these concepts but adapted!
Hi Almeida, Awesome videos I learn a lot from them and your book. Would you be able to do a video on the proper technique to setup the FFB as you were explaining in the video I didn't completely understand that?
I have a Simcube Pro 2 and I have in iRacing the Max Force set to 47nm and the Wheel Force set to 25nm. Do I need more Max Force? Please explain. How would you set this up in ACC as I also run that sim also.
Keep up the awesome work and videos :)
Example: Max Force 30nm. Wheel Force 15nm. Max Force is what is iRacing outputting to Wheel Force. Say the car is producing 30nm, and you have Max Force set up at 30nm. That 30nm (virtual) will get translated to your Wheel Force (15nm real FFB your DD is outputting). So 30nm (simulated) will be 15nm in your hands.
Another Example: you have DD that can produce 30nm. If you set up Max Force 30nm, and Wheel Force 30nm, you're running it 1:1. If the car is outputting 10nm you will feel 10nm.
However. Since some cars have light steering, and you want the strength feel similarly across all cars, you'll have to experiment. Check the "custom controls for this car."
10:20 that moment made me so happy! And it wasn't me!
It's an amazing video with a lot of amazing hints. Honestly, having a wheel with higher force than 12NM gives more feedback, especially when you set it to hard, and hence, is a good advantage?
Best coaching video I’ve ever seen. Wow.
Thanks bro!
Funny, when I started mountainbiking and bikes were just too short and nimble for me, I could not take any turns without dragging the rear brake. I used it to load the front wheel which would otherwise wash out.
Great pedagogy as always 😎
Is this technique as important and efficient in GT cars as in high downforce cars?
Yes, it's even more important in GT cars actually
Didn't expect to see RCS here nice! 😊
Exceptional instruction…
Awesome, question is, how do I know the Newtonmeter of the car?
such a great vid
Cool video!
"numb your hands" is a brilliant way to say it. I can visualize what that will feel like.
Eu sempre estive 1s atrás dos primeiros colocados, após esse vídeo estou no mesmo Pace as vezes até mais rápido que eles, sensacional a chave que virou assistindo esse vídeo. Parabéns e sucesso na sua carreira virtual e real.
At times I see you pop up in my feed and think "hey it's the FR3.5 track guide guy". I used to paste in links to your guides each week to the Formula Renault 3.5 iRacing sub forum. Seems like a lifetime ago now compared to what you're doing now with your course, community and IRL racing.
Is it also ok to use the automatic adjustment of the ffb after about 2 laps? Because that's difficult to know the real Nm the car has in reality.
I tend to hold the steering tight but the movement is very minimal. Is it the same as what it’s taught in the video despite me holding the wheel tight?
does the this "light hand technique" work for other sims like rF2/LMU ?
Good video. (haven’t got past the first add yet)
Is the light hands technique relevent with wheels as light as the Logitech g920
Even more!
I don’t understand how mid turn, engine braking is different vs solely using the footbrake to titrate the trail braking.
will that work same in GT7 with a GT3 car? I mean the light hand technique?
Tuga teimoso!
If you thought that was impressive here me out, I found over 4 sec in a single lap after watching this video, amazing as a beginner sim racer and just started with iRacing I can reinsure this gentleman knows how this work. Thinking about taking the paid option .
@suellio is it possible to restart a lap from a predetermined point? Like in this example, are you able to reset the lap right before turn 1, so that you can practice turn 1 over and over? Or is he driving all the way around the track to get back to turn 1 every single time and it's just edited out of the video? Would be amazing to be able to practice a specific section of a track that one is having difficulty with, instead of having to drive around the entire track.
iRacing has a reset feature. You can practice a section of track without doing an outlap.
As @afterthought6889 said, it's called Active Reset - Suellio has done a video on it here on CZcams
Yes, use the iRacing active reset feature. You map two buttons one for starting where you want the reset, and the other to do the reset.
Yeah, its the Active Reset feature, I made a video about it here:
czcams.com/video/-mEshzTvMQ4/video.html
how do you get the telemetry graph in the bottom center of your screen?
Racelabs!
Or iOverlay if you are looking for a free version!
I''m no driver yet, but could it be his pedals are a bit soft? Both brake and throttle seem very light, as if he can't feel the difference between 10% and 0% too well, and can't smootly apply or let go.
So how do you know what iracings nm steering strength is for that car or any other for that matter?
If you use the auto function it generally nails the value pretty well
I wonder how easy this technique is for non load cell brakes...
Oke, I'm a bit confused now 🙈 Is it better to have a bit lighter FFB or heavier?
How applicable is the technique in acc or gt7
I love you! It's almost scary how much speed you can carry into the corner if you use the brakes correctly and relax the hands. Guys, what car is this, I want to learn too.
It's the Porsche 963 GTP
@@sloth_energy Thanks, I'm getting together with Daytona.
This was so interesting! If I played iRacing I would immediately go and practice this lol. Wonder how it translates to Assetto Corsa...
Thank you Suellio,
what ive learned today from your video
is that randomcallsign
- has no clue to set up his wheelbase
- sucks at driving
- does not understand FFB
- but doing reviews of of simracing software/hardware?
very educational
If having 6nm is too low, my 2nm TMX is like not even having ffb lol
I noticed in the beginning that I think he's braking a bit late as well. He's also definitely trying to force the car to do something that it can't do. Every car has its limits and trying to push a car beyond that will cause it to understeer heavily. I believe this is what is making him want to turn in more underbraking as well which is a no no because that will actually just cause the car to stop later. This lesson was great in teaching him to undo his bad habit for sure.
Edit: Also you explain what I said in the other short here as well :) Racing in one car will not teach you to race well in another. How you race a production car is not the same as how you would race in a GT car, which is also not the same how you would race in a racing purpose vehicle like an LMP or an F1. Each class of car requires different techniques to drive them properly.
hah awesome stuff. how much force feedback is too much?
Would you recommend these light hand technique for gt7 as well?
yes!
@@SuellioAlmeida legend - thanks! Im 1 sec. off the world records and i dont see why anymore in the replays!
Podiam fazer o vídeo todo em português 😁
muito bom suelio
Is the 9 nm moza racing wheel base enough?
Yes that's pretty good
how can I get a high force feedback on a t248 lol, simracing unfortunately is a little pay to win
i have a love and hate relationship with sim racing. I love it, but hate that i just dont have what it takes to be good. I need to take a break from it, but it keeps drawing me back, only to feel sooo frustrated again. Not a fun cycle.
Bro that t1 hooow many times 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Welcome to simracing. Every competitive racer, be it in the sim or in real life, has been through this. Otherwise they wouldn't have gotten to where they are today. It's the same for any sport. You just can't join Real Madrid without heavy devotion and repetition, even if you have all the talent in the world.
gold!
so THATS how these fast fuckers do it! my god that made so much sense lol god dam it
Does it only applies to iRacing or can you use it in real life?
real life too!

It's called Active Reset - Suellio has done a video on it here on CZcams
Use the iRacing active reset feature. You bind two keys, one to Mark where you want to set and one to do the reset.
No way, I am sub to him also :D
