Next year Sweden will have hosted Eurovision in every decade since the 70s (75, 85, 92, 00, 13, 16, 24), that is 6 decades in a row. I don't think any other country comes close to that longevity in Eurovision.
I mean the uk is close at 5 decades but that's a bit unfair cause they've hosted 9 TIMES.
Every time I see a 2020 act it reminds me what an incredible year we could've had

Sweden has become a MEGA Eurovision powerhouse since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004 as (Apart from their 3 victories in 2012, 2015 and 2023) they reached the top 10 in the Grand Final 12 times and only missed the Grand Final once in 2010!
Didn’t they also win in 1974… etc

It's probably because the Swedish artists have to go through Melodifestivalen first so they have done a competition like ESC before (50% jury, 50% people) with a total of 28 songs so if you're not a good vocalist then you won't win Melodifestivalen either.

@@epislog178 for me Tattoo is always better than Euphoria. Tatoo is more complex in it structure and more depth. It also hits more immediately. "Euphoria" was a grower, it took time to warm up to it. And at the end of the day is is a very 2012 sounding song. Without Loreen it would have been a generic dance song.

7th win confirmed that this is the most succesful Eurovision participating country. Love so many entries!
yes total wins tied with Ireland, but Ireland won all of theirs with no more than 19 or 20 countries, and before any real semifinals etc were introduced. It was a COMPLETELY different world/contest, and that has to count against them. THey have done absolutely nothing of note since 2001 or so, and will never live down that puppet disaster.

I prefere an underdog. ESC and EBU seem to be run and decisions made by Sweden only.
If anyone ever doubts why Sweden always scores so high, all they have to do is look at this sequence of songs. Maybe it wasn't always necessarily the best song of the competition, even in 2015 (I liked the contribution from my own country that year, Belgium - Loic Nottet better), but the quality is mostly undeniable. A song that not many people that I know liked so much but I still enjoy hearing & seeing is Dance you off.
Just look at the jury votes compared to public votes! That's how you know they deserve it!

In 1956-1998 there were orchestras in Eurovision, but since 1999 there are none.

Hmm looking at these, it seems the jury points have often improved Sweden's placement (the power of the juries). I'm guessing Sweden has probably been the most consistently successful country with the juries hence this vid.
I think Sweden is such a succesful country but it does not change the fact that Sweden is overrated almost every year, like 2018 2023 2019 2017 etc. Think that 2023 Sweden's entry sent by Georgia, I think they even can't pass the semi finals. Anyway, as i said it is succesful but overrated
