- There are many options for you in adding a chicken run to your coop or barn. With a little extra fortification, the large dog kennels work great for us for our separated, small flocks of chickens and ducks! It could be a great option for you, too!
Enjoy & thanks for watching! xo

This is the same thing we do. We bought a dog kennel, brand new for $100 at lowes. It was a demo and they had it taken down, we had to figure out how to put it together, but what a great buy. We have moved it all over the yard. It is great for baby chicks, momma and new babies, injured or new chicks to the flock. We love ours. We added chicken wire around the sides because babies can get through the chain link.
I also use the kennel panels for K9 training, but also to isolate my kitchen garden and as fencing around the property as needed. the beauty is it IS mobile! I can adjust as needed for the crops, animals, season or other need. great tip Patara!
I love these panels! several years ago we used panels like that for goats. we moved the enclosure every day or two and used them to clear an area. easy to move, secure pen :)
Thanks! Dog kennel fencing is a great alternative for in many instances less money than those prefab wood crackerboxes sold at the farm stores, and it will last a lot longer too. Ours attaches to the side of a 12x20 garden shed with a smaller roosting room built inside.
Such a great idea...gonna keep an eye out for dog runs from now on!
That's exactly what I've been keeping n eye out for, a used dog run to finalize my run. Blessings!
depending on where you live, yard sales can be great finds. I have gotten lots of great items at yard sales. I have found pieces of cribs (spring frames) that I use as a trellis for my cucumbers in my garden. Also lots of flower pots...
I have been really thinking about using this type of fencing. You have helped me make up my mind.
Thank you so much for the valuable lesson , it is very educational for me and I really appreciate the farm and the animals !
Great video, love your videos and the effort you put into them 😀❤️
You are too much! You got me and my daughters cracking up. "Everything you own in the run to the left" Great idea for a mobile run. luv it!
This is what I did years ago when I got my first chickens. I have moved it before to change things up. Works perfect!!
Thank you we are new on our land I want chickens but glad I didn’t start so I can get to know the weather and the grounds
I was looking for something easy and mobile
Definitely this will work for us we have a dog kennel for the puppies
My husband thought why not for chickens
Yes awesome run idea Patara
Thank you, Mr. Thomas. It's working quite well here. xo
Great idea, thank you, Patara.
That's what I have. my little coup is inside. Chicken Wire all around
Hey this is a great idea I just had a dog kennel given to me and I just set it off to the side I have not got started on chickens but I will use it for that thanks again God bless you you're my prayers
Score!
instead of blocks at the bottom i use 4 ft chicken wire n put 2 ft up the fence bend it n put 2 ft on the ground
Those are beautiful birds.....love that de copper color!
They are real sweethearts, too!
We was thinking about a coop for a grow out pin for our bunnies and plus make it into a tracker run where it had wheels on one side so we could move it. If we do it we will put up a vid about.
When you place your blocks around your run full your hole and plant plants that chicken enjoy. They will be moveable also.
Love the run. I'd love to see the inside of that coop and get the specs on that too. I'm thinking about getting a few chickens and not sure what would work well for me and the chickens.
Great idea!
Hello. Everything looks so nice. Great ideas and happy healthy looking chickens.
GOD'S JOY from Dave in Georgia.
Absolutely right those are worth it
Praying 4 U and your family. Can't find the buffs here, have had Rhode Island Reds. There pretty chickens. Have a good night!!!!
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL PATARA
Thank you, Ms. Lilah! xoxo
This is my setup. 👍🤠
HA HA! "Everything you own in the run to the left" :D :D :D I am dying! OMG! I say things like this all the time. It's totally a Mom thing to say. We think we are being cute and funny and the kids are like "Mooooom Reaaallly!?"
👍 I get the best tips from watching your CZcams Channel!!!
my Brother put landscape timbers under his and sat the fence on top of it .
Hey girl! I would like to see a video about how you store your eggs until sale day.
🙌 that's what we use
Excellent advice. Love your out of the box thinking and lady -- you got class
I have a dog run that I am refurbishing into a chicken run/coop... we have tarp roof over the top stabilized by pipes, then we have chicken wire under the coop so nothing can dig under
my son Stephen likes this idea , because he's hooked on Chickens, now he's looking as he does timber work/homesteading and looking for pigs now lol also! great old video information.
good idea!!
Those chickens look plump and happy :)
Kennels are awsome use them for my chickens but i haf to reiforce lower bottom with hog panels to keep my dogs from tearing them up
Love Love Love my buff orpingtons
watching it again with notebook in hand!!!!
Do you ever have issues with snakes? I like the hardware cloth along the bottom for extra security, but the cost is prohibitive.
Do you reccomend putting some sod down?
Why do you keep your buff Orpingtons separate from the other chickens?
Buffy Orpingtons are the best chickens
Can you provide a link to where we can purchase a run like this?
My buffs go broody all the time. Drives me crazy.
anyone know if I get a covered kennel and a few hens do I need a full on coop or can I just use nesting boxes and stuff like that? I live somewhere that has pretty mild weather. It usually ranges from the 70s to 90s in temp. it sometimes drops to the 60s at night but it is not super common. If I do need a full on coop do I need to lock then in at night if they have a kennel? sorry these might be dumb questions.
good video, caught the beyonce ref. haha
Haha! No scripting... ever. lol! Thanks for watching! xoxo
2 buff roos and only 5 hens? the roos don't fight? 😊
Not at all but one is about to go to the barn. "Paul Newman" has proven to be the dominant man here, so I am am moving the other. His name is "Toby Keith." Haha! ;-) Thanks for watching.
