    I might need some of those..We have one rooster and 15 hens and a couple he does prefer. They are all under a year old...And we almost got rid of Rudy our Rooster this last week, because he came at one of our grandkids and pecked in twice in the legs and bruised (2) grandkids pretty bad. But we want to give him another chance We hate to lose him, but surely do not want our grandkids hurt...Thank you soooo much. I love love love your videos. YOu inspire me

    I have a Black Australorp named Bettie that all of our roosters seem to love (She IS gorgeous), she gets way more attention than she would probably like. She gets to pick her own hen saddle first because of that. She gets to keep her beautiful feathers intact due to this wonderful creation. I love Louise! We buy in bulk.

    I've heard one draw back to the saddles is that the hen can't dust bathe that area. I wonder if applying some DE to the saddle would prevent any mites from finding a home under there?

    Love the saddle material, and thanks for doing the video! I think it might be easier on both you and the hen if you pull the straps over the wings in the same direction that the feathers lay.. it's may make the hens resist a little less. Also, check out the design where you can apply a snap to the underside of the saddle that lays under the wings and then just snap the elastic on bypassing threading the wings altogether. Luv ya!

      Well. Hen saddles are actually good just to overall help the hens also if you are having issues in pecking order as well. It protects them. ;-) A bloody hen left to her own defenses can quickly become a dead one.... so healing her is key. ;-)

    Watching you put the girls "comfort coats" on was the highlight of my evening! Great idea! Otto on "Alaska, the Last Frontier" made a bra for his cow who had a sore tit. What ever is needed is great! I do know lady chickens went years without this fashion but then there was a time we ladies delivered children in caves...glad we have modern conveniences. Your California Friend, Marisa

  • @southernladywithmanyhats7428

    I put snaps on mine on each end and it makes it easier to get it on. Just the larger flat snaps. Might ask her to do that and you don't have to do the getting it around the wings since it's a loose.

    i have a question asked you before about if you have goat milk etc you said you didn;t because you favor cow milk. well i have not ever had goat cheese raw or the milk , it has always been pasturized and it has always tasted like goat in some way and i find it not very good. i have ahad raw cow milk and it was great.
    so i am asking does goats that arent with the bucks milk taste non goaty in the raw taste .

    • @appalachiashomesteadwithpatara
      @appalachiashomesteadwithpatara  Před 9 lety +1

      You will want to keep the buck separate because he will affect the flavor of the milk. Raw goat milk is better than anything at the store but like you, I do favor raw cow milk more. It is sweeter to me.

    Just front he experience of trying to fit babies while wiggling you may want to slide the elastic over the shoulder in the direction of the feathers and pull down. There should be enough elastic to do it if I'm seeing it right. Fitting teenage girls is actually worse. They bi#ch and complain the whole time. For some reason they don't like homemade clothes even when your mom is a custom seamstress and, it looks the same or better than the store....but longer. Denim panties have no place in my house.
