    How many other people were going "Biffa, you need to create a port connection to the other cities to get the cargo ships." And forgetting to reconnect the train line too. haha

    At 9:20, the curved arrow for straight ahead is because you've got 2 lanes going into 1.

    Dont forget to add the train lines to the cargo harbors as well. Also put the large international airport on the peninsula on the south-west.

    53:15 east definitely east mate. Far enough away from residential and you create a great freeway entry and line it up so that planes don’t pass over your city but along side it for great third person viewing experiences

    The issue you were having with the little bit of road at the start of the video was to do with the Pedestrian path. It can create crossroads if you drag its connection to the actual road a bit too far (which happened with you, as you could see 2 crossroads, one after the other). It is also a useful way of spliting a long road segment in two, instead of adding a bit of road like you did.

    Hey Biffa, on the subject of traffic jams, I don't know if you realise but often you are getting a jam because its rush hour and sometimes when you think you've solved it its just because its 3am. Even with day/night turned off you still get people travelling to and from work at normal times so you normally get jams forming 7-10 and 4-7, depends how bad jams are and how well you have managed traffic as to how long they last, also depends how far Cims are travelling.

      Another problem which isn't visually shown is snow. You do see snowplow trucks but don't see snow on the road. Snow causes traffic.

    I think they aren't trading with you because you didn't put in the cargo routes. In cs 1 you just needed to connect to the seaway but in cs2 you have to draw the routes as well.

      I was dying seen Biffa struggle with this one. So easy to overlook that detail when you are focused on creating a nice looking city.

    42:45 @Biffa Plays Indie Games and those that are watching - Node Tip: The nodes issue here (and this goes for district nodes and landfill nodes as well) is because you are selecting the middle point, thus the tool grabs all nodes to move them all at once. If you hover your mouse close to the node, but only in the zone you intend to modify, and you can tell because the zone is highlighted when you are close enough, you can click and drag and the tool will recognize that you only intend to change that one zone and not all of them that meet there. Therefor it'll only pull the node for the highlighted zone away from the group of nodes.
    To recap: Mouse over the actual node will move all nodes, mouse next to the node highlighting a single zone/district, will only pull that zone/district node and leave all the others there.

    A huge missing feature seems to be that we cannot choose the orientation of exists, in particular with train infrastructure. The train depot is even worse - in real life, you don't have only one direction in which the tracks can exit relative to the road connection. In this case the natural way of having mirrored ports with the train tracks on the same side is a natural way of doing it. Having to tunnel under the bay is ridiculous. There should be left and right version of every asset with more than 1 infrastructural connection.

    Loving your series! You actually made me buy that game, and I'm having a blast! Concerning the airport: as an avgeek I've unlocked the airports as soon as possible in my city. And I've got to say. Wow. The international airport looks fabulous and brings many nice little perks like an already connected and integrated railway station, as well as obviously more city wide benefits etc. So if you'd ask me, I'd say wait just that little bit longer until you can unlock the international airport and go for it. It might cost quite a hefty sum, but as you've got 0% taxes already, this should not be an issue at all :) As to where the airport should go, that's a good question. :) Maybe somewhere down in the southeast? As you already have a train line running though there and your cargo port isn't far either, which could come in handy when fiddling with the cargo extension for the airport. If you take a look at the bird's-eye view you gave us in the last bit, I'm thinking somewhere on the southern arm of this interesting looking, "lake-dotted" peninsula? Might need some terraforming though

    Nice series you're presenting. For the placement of the airport in regards to the city, I have no particular spot in mind, but with CS2 having a prevailing wind direction, you can add to realism of the city by placing it so that the take-off and landing direction has a nice head wind. Specially with so strong winds like on this map it shortens the roll distance on the runway :)

    Hi Biffa you should open up on the island with ore/mineral and get more stuff out of it for you to export or use on things you need it for,as for the little airport put it in between your two towns near the forestry for you can open a forestry on island at the bottom of your first town. keep up with the great videos am totally loving it 👍😊

    While I was playing CS2, in my last 100K+ city with less than ideal road layouts, I've noticed that the traffic will disappear if they're waiting for too long like before. But future traffic also takes note of the congestion, and will try to find alternative routes when it exceeds some limit. At least, I think that is what's going on, it may also be that the rush hour is over. So it may be beneficial to have at least 2-3 routes for each key destination (commercial and high density residential being the main reason for traffic), as well as cargo hubs near industrial zones and public transport everywhere.

    You can merge the shipping lanes again and use one route to each port. Also don't forget the train routes like other people mentioned.

    Heya Biffa! As always, love your CS1/2 content. But truth be told, I think CS2 has still too many bugs and issues "under the hood" that really need fixing before I will enjoy that game. So fingers crossed that CO will quickly deliver on those. Till then, Happy Holidays and "Good Slide into the New Year" as we Germans say! :P

    Second, I think you should put the airport somewhere northsouth or eastwest. There is alot of space left on the opposite side from the shipyards across the map. There could be a water link to 2 other cities from there too probably

    Yep, I did the same thing on my "Oil Baron" playthrough. 0% tax on residential and only 10% tax on all commercial, industry & offices, also all my parking lots and public transport is free and still in green and making tonnes of money from exports :O It seems that in CS2 at least at this point in time there is absolutely no worry about finances.

    I don't think you set up any train routes on your cargo harbors. What I did was run routes to cargo train stations around built-up areas with industrial and commercial. Gets rid of a lot of trucks clogging your entry/exit roads as they'll run back and forth from the train station instead.

    From playing about with the game, i'm pretty sure that high rent complaints are linked to demand for housing (high demand = higher rent in available houses, just like real life). Cims aren't asking for lower taxes here, they're asking you to zone more residential areas!

    For the airport I think that peninsula to the south-east of your cargo harbour would be good. It seems to be a realistic distance from your residential areas, as most other areas of flat land are a bit too close to housing.

    Airport wise... SE , very bottom of the map in that nice big green space in the bend of the trainline/highway for connections.
    And again, when you add the airport, you have to add the lines to the outside😛

Off topic from your road issue, I was hoping you could go over mod installation from thunderstore, and what files need to be put in there because when I follow the guides from steam, my game just fails to open unless there's some compatibility issues.     I'd replace those small bridges crossing from one side of the port to the other with arched bridges. It'd look much better. :)

    I would like to see the airport on the west peninsula. You can make that whole peninsula a tourist spot with the remaining land and it's right near the highway. May have to reshape it a bit as it looks like it gets skinny near the northwest end. 👌👍

    First of all, love the vids! Started watching since Kettlebridge #1 and can't get enough. Really happy to see your starting your cargo harbor, I was really looking forward to that.
    But I do got one question after watching around 15 video's: why does everything have to be flat? I'm from the Netherlands and all I know is flat but why not use a bit of the hight difference in the game?

    Dropped the aunt and cousin at FRA yesterday to return to their homes in Florida, so I have time to dive into mods today! YAY! I really miss having a bit of Hugothar available. 00:44: Those are not the most traffic efficient interchanges available. Looking forward to when I can link in some of Yumbl's, et al, designs. Nothing I build is anywhere as pretty as he, or you, build. 15:34: Yah, that's pretty.

    I think the open land mass to the west south west is a good location for the airport. You can connect to the highway to the south and to the northwest via a bridge or two, and it is KettleBRIDGE after all. 😉 Plus the area is large enough to add in both airports near each other, if you want to have both of them that is.

    I would say the peninsula immediately south-east of the cargo terminal looks like a roomy enough area for your airport, and not too far away for convenience as well.

    The airport would look good next to the port by the electronics factory(east) and can be used mainly as a cargo terminal, the international is huge so the only space I see it would fit is the north

    The airport should be on the small peninsula in the southeast, with the runway facing the small island so that you don't need to worry about construction height problems...

    I think the airport would be well suited to the west of kettlebridge. On the peninsula across from the main island. Keeps it nearby for most of the residents, yet far enough away as to not cause noise pollution

    Hey Biffa, you can take away some crossways for pedestrians witg right click, when you choose the pedestrian crossways nearby the no right Turn sign. That helps to improve traffic much.

    at the 9:10 mark, based on the road wear decorations, it looks like the right hand lane is a left hand turn only while the left hand lane is left and straight ahead. I also noticed the straight ahead traffic seems to only go to left hand lane

    Don’t forget to add fire service with helicopters in the chemical plant area and a lookout by the farms also being far away add a transformer for power so it doesn’t overload in winter, plus add metro link

    Biffa can you please get down a road from the cuplit down to the district (11:40)? I think that would help a lot to reduce the traffic that you just fixed before, because there are not so many entrances into the district. Also i would enjoy if you start building up the quay wall next to the cuplit :)

    For the airport: In the West, this long island with the highway going through slightly offset, to me seems like the perfect spot for this huge airport.

    Real-life harbor bridges usually need tons of clearance underneath to allow the massive ship to pass. The new Long Beach Int'l Gateway bridge is over 60 meters high. I assume that is like to be the issue you were having with the train bridge.
    I would probably put the airport to the south east corner near the rail junction that's there.

    I'd say to the WEST of the city the other side of the large estate with the higher road way with all the little nubs on it. It places it near enough to the city that it's an attractive transportation method but also mitigates noise pollution if placed with the flight paths going North-South ( out over the new cargo port area). It also makes an airport express rail link practical as well.

    I think putting an airport on the west of the map near that collector road would be a good idea.. plenty of connections all around the city
    The north (to the left of the stone works) could also be an option as there’s the highway connection and lots of other roads and industry.

    Airport could go on the peninsula to the southwest - looks like there's a stub of a road coming off the highway that could connect up to it.

    Another entertaining video, thanks mate. I am getting used to watching CS2 now but it still seems that quite a few things are more difficult to do in the normal playing of this game than in CS1, would that be a fair assessment?

    Unrelated to this stream, but I heard something interesting on the cities skylines 2 stream that if you have high rent on the big blocks eventually they will move out and then when they rebuild they will rebuild smaller houses anyway on those big blocks

    With the farms where they become one node, select it then right click and itll detach the nodes.

    Enjoying the build a lot. You are a traffic guy, but how about trying to avoid some by putting a metro line to the cargo harbor with a stop at the big chemical plant? Huge parking lot spaces could be used for some low density commercial, such as restaurants , for the workers. Also a big cargo harbor needs at least a small police station.

    put the air port on the western peninsula, far enough away to prevent noise and pollution but still in a location where mass transport can connect with som road building, a bit like Heathrow to London.
