That is so cool!! Wild Bill Hickock was apparently there with Calamity Jane at one time. Even more surrealistictly, the fashion Icon and future Editor in Chief of Vogue Magazine in the 1960s was in Cheyenne, Wyoming as a young girl during some outbreak of disease that had her mother sending her, her sister, and her French maid to the wilds to avoid illness....they learned to ride horses and talk to cowboys....
She LOVED being out there, and in the future, would send models and photographers to wild towns all over America, creating some of the most iconic photographs of all time....

Yes Wild Bill was here, he passed through many times (I was born here, so the history of the city is pretty interesting) along with the fact downtown is still VERY similar to how it was in the 1800's (obvious modernization has occurred) but many of the buildings are from that time period.
The gallows from which Tom Horn was hung from didn't fully be dismantled until I was young (70's) but the court house it was next to (across the street from the original jail) still stands today.

One of my dream ideas is to travel America for a few years and look at our history, not just the big stuff, but the minor characters and events as well. I could go to museums for the rest of my life, I never get tired of history, and have collected thousands of memoirs from the 1800s on. I was completely fascinated as a kid, and now, as an adult, that what I spent every extra dollar on, old books, I hope to be able to finish a book I'm writing based on my grandmother, who grew up in West Texas and ended up in Hollywood! Hard to believe, I know! There are so many places to go to, I know I'll be in my 80s going, "I'm just getting started!"....😀

She went out and told them to stop as she didn't want to walk 5 miles to school. They laughed and told her ok. She said she knew who they were but wouldn't tell anyone if they left her horse. An interesting take on the man was given in 1979 TV miniseries "Mr. Horn," starring David Carradine, Richard Widmark and Karen Black. There are many fictional aspects but there is a key phrase: asked whether it's true he has killed a hundred men, he says, "a thousand. The more they think I have done, the less I have to do. Fear serves me. The fear they have of me."
Maybe his bragging wasn't a psychological flaw, but a weapon that ultimately killed himself.

I am the great grandson of Tom. My mother is Pamela Horn. Close to the great Ross Perot. Anyway I have a family book of every horn that dates back to the early 1800s.
The craziest thing about my story is that Shedrick was my nick name Growing up my entire life. It was a baseball nickname that my coach gave me. It stood for ‘bringing the tools to the Shed’ a baseball term used often. My real name is Cedric. My nick name is Shedrick.. Pretty crazy

Cedric, I am a researcher and would love to email you for family stories. The problem with a lot of "history" is no family stories or stories from boots on the ground. Now, Tom wasn't married that we know of, unless to an Apache common law wife and/or he didn't hang? So I'm very curious about your history. It's far past time for truthful and/or filled in history!
