Cooper's cochlear implants were turned on on July 9, 2020. This video is a realistic depiction of what most activation days look like. #cochlearimplants
The way you wanted the words he heard to be “I love you” more than anything else. Almost as if he never got the chance again, at least he heard you say it. I’m so proud of you.
Love how this is not just a video to make people cry happy tears. But to educate! So mom's that are about to go through that, can have a look and see 'Oh, it's not just my kid. I am not alone and it doesn't have to be like a fairytale.'
The clapping is usually done to get their attention and to see if the baby or child is hearing auditory inputs. Also, they use it to see how much of response the child gives and if they are tolerating the auditory sounds given at that time. Which they can if they turn their head and looking at the audiologist.
And I started crying too! How strange for a very young child. I wish that they'd start with something more mellow than a clap - how about some beautiful music, or his parents' voices being the first thing they hear?
