The Atlanta "fresh start" gold rush is ending. In truth, Atlanta is perfect for young black influencers, entertainers, business folk, and professionals who are invested in being in the mix. But when you realize beyond parties and illusions that there's barely any black scenes for regular, everyday people and that you will "pay to play" (and pay a lot), many end up more lost than they were when they first arrived here.

Isn’t that how most major cities are tho. They’re fast and full of parties, designer clothes, etc. If u wanna calm and peaceful lifestyle then yea living in the heart of Atlanta is not the move. Best to move to metro

@@ATLzay : yeah I agree but not even factoring in a peaceful life, ATL isn't the black mecca we think it is past nightlife, beauty and business. Theres no black arts district, no black fashion scene, there isn't a significant black hobbyist or nerd scene. The black arts scene is decent but even that comes with navigating through a lot of bs. A white person can get up on a random Saturday, go to a plant sale, wine tasting, boutique opening, arts show, bar, nature trail, and trivia night, with little to no effort in finding these events. Black people host these things too but way less consistently and conveniently--but you'll ALWAYS find a black networking mixer, woman's brunch, cosmetic class and of course club/party. I don't see that as black mecca, because it's only half the story of the people here. To get the most out of living here you have to be a certain type of black person if you catch my drift.

Some people move back into the city when their parents pass and leave them the house if they owned one. Too many young blacks like this woman come here to do the same thing. Acting, modeling, singing, rapping, clubbing, hanging in Buck head and Lenox. Us locals hardly ever go to Buckhead and Lenox is basically a tourist attraction and a hangout for young folks. CZcams videos about Atlanta that are made by people who aren't black are completely different because they come here educated and get good jobs. They don't come here for that entertainment bs.

My life got better because of Chicago, I walked more, made more money, became a more active, social, happier person. If you live in Chicago, and rent, and ride public transit - life is sweet.
I ultimately left for my own reasons. City life started to drag on me after 5 years. I missed my family. The winters were no longer charming. I bought a car and spent well over $1k in 2 mos between parking tickets & tires repairs (because the potholes there are just negligent and dangerous at this point), among other stuff that happened like a homeless person tried to open my car door at a red light. Life there gets harder and more expensive when you actually decide to settle due to sky high taxes for literally everything.

What up Angell! Sorry this comment is so long. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in, lol. I’ve been a fan of your ATL apt tours for awhile. (Still the best apt tours on CZcams!⭐) I moved to ATL 5 years ago from VA . I moved here to become an actor . I definitely can relate to the good and the bad things you mentioned in this vid. First the good, I moved here pre -pandemic so I have a nice apt in Marietta that’s not too pricey. It’s safe , comfortable and has a great management team that will work with you. It’s not high rise luxury but it’s nice. I really love living in my community.
As far as acting, My God
I’ve had the opportunity to do things and work with people I never dreamed of. I started off doing background just to get experience on set. It’s important to know what to do and what not to do on these multi million dollar sets ( the lingo used , how to actively listen to a director, who does what , how filming works etc. ) I’ve worked on tv shows like Black Lightning and MacGyver. I worked for months on my favorite tv show , The Walking Dead. That is still the most amazing and fun experience of my life so far. 💯💯 I remember telling my friends back in VA “One day, I’m going to be on that show. I may be sweeping up the set after everyone leaves
but I’m going to be on that show !! “ And after a while here in ATL
I was on the show filming scenes with my favorite characters! đŸ™ŒđŸœđŸ™ŒđŸœ I also go to work a lot on Bad Boys for Life when they filmed in ATL. I spent days on set working with Will and Martin , another super amazing experience. It very easy to get into background. You don’t need an agent or even professional pics to get into background. And you’re right , there are scammers( agencies) out there who will make you think you need their services to do the same thing you can do on your own
for free. If you have any questions on how to break into background , reach out ( if you decide to stay). 🎭🎬
    Just like you
I LOVE ATL and all the cool things here to do. But you’re SO right
it’s hard to make friends here. Back home I had a solid friend circle , most who I’ve known for at least a decade. But here in ATL
it’s completely different. When I moved here and started meeting people , they would tell me “You’re so consistent. “ At first , I was like “What the heck, does that mean ??” đŸ€” But I soon found out. I’ve met people who are liars, fakes , never text back after weeks but still consider yourself their “friend”. đŸš©I have high friend standards just like you and I’ve had to drop more people than I’ve kept. I get out more when my friends from VA come to visit. I just think it’s a lot of distractions here and like you said, people are so busy trying to keep up with an “image”
they forget to actually do the WORK it takes to get the lifestyle they’re perpetrating.
One the flip side , I’ve met some really nice people as well ( coworkers , people on set etc. ) A lot of the people I work with at my 9-5 have successful side business like bakeries, food blogs etc. They’re really out here doing it , lol. But it’s few and far between. I act, I make music and I’m also an author. But the difference is
.I don’t spend time talking about that stuff a lot because I’m busy actually doing it , lol. I have people at work who have no idea I’m I to all the creative things I do because again, if you’re doing it
you don’t have time to brag about it all the time.
Im glad to know it’s not just ME who has trouble making friends here. I look at it like this
it’s less things to distract me from what I came here to do. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž Just know that you’re not alone. It’s other genuine people out here that came to the ATL for the opportunities and are getting things done and seeing their dreams come true. I didn’t even look to see when this video was uploaded, you may already be gone by now. But if you’re still till in the A
hold on TIGHT to your dreams, stay focused and don’t let the bad/fake energy deter you. đŸ’ȘđŸŸđŸ’ŻđŸ’ŻATL is an awesome place where things a can actually happen , you just have to duck and dodge all the BS. 😂 Good luck in whatever you decide to do , I’m sure it will continue to be 5⭐!😎

Everyone wants to be a star everywhere. Go to any city that has over 500,000 people and the same thing will be there. Create your plan for success, living and what you want in life and stick to your purpose. What's been going on has always been forthcoming but social media has accelerated it and too many people weren't/aren't ready for it.
You have young people coming up and get exposed to FOMO early, they can't discern from what's real and fake and it deadens social skills for making real connections. The only thing that can fix this is for people that know better make sure they teach this in the home and how to focus on your purpose rather than social media and keeping up with the jones' and being a "star".

Girl - I am born and raised in Cali and moved to ATL 4 years ago as well. It's not giving what it was supposed to haev gave, in the words of Rolling Ray. Atlanta has a very big flex culture - especially out at the spots that young folks like you and I would want to go to. But I don't want to be in a section every week or at a bunch with piss poor service. Beyond those things I really struggle to find things to do for young folks like myself. Everything requires money to be spent that I don't want to spend on those types of experiences. I have been out multiple times and I found out there was a shooting the next day. The city is getting very chaotic and the overall vibes for black folks is mixed. People say it's a great place to network and start a business, but I haven't found anyone that I want to network with and haven't seen many businesses flourish. End rant
