The great thing about those tractors is that the farmer fixed them, they did not have to call a computer guy to fix it
😂😂😂
Yeah, well, now you need both.
But all the auto-pilot thing looks interesting….I wonder if managing all that “automation” dumbs down the “feel” you get naturally…
@@michaellauer3397 I cannot say, I know much about the computer driven tractor, guess I am to old and managed ok with the old things, just did not get as many fields they do todays. My family has ben farming in the US since 1645
Farmers need open source. By contract, in many cases your not allowed to fix your own machine.
Him: High-five!
Her: TOTALLY LEFT HIM HANGING! 😂😂❤
send that man more vice-grips stat!
like high five ... hm i'm really attracted to this sexy control panel over here 🤣
Saw that. Gotta match up.
The red ones are what played a major part in building this country.
🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
They sure did, my grandparents had International.
You are correct sir from 1923 to about 1960 all the other tractor companies in the US tried to copy internationals ideas of the Farmall. Where international lost ground was when they tried to sit on their laurels and didn't want to change to keep up with the times and that's when deer took the larger share of the market
randysimmons6552 👍 yes Sir ! spent a lot of time, in my youth, on those red machines !! 😎
And what a great country it is …. Trump 2024!
I enjoyed going along on a visit to the Red Tractor Show! I love the way the mechanical ingenuity of our forefathers got us where we are today and how Laura and Grant are building on that foundation and teaching all us non-farmers at the same time.
My 2 favorite farmers. FYI on my first day of work in the oil field, some 40 yrs ago, I was told to always touch electric panels with the back of your hand rather than fingers. I guess it is possible to get a shock and your fingers will close and not allow u to get away. Don't know if it is true but didn't want to find out. Still do it to this day. Have learned so much from you guys. Keep it up! (:
It’s true hands can close around when shocked
Especially on high voltage DC supplies (which I don't think you have). But yes - back of your hand, then you won't grasp the live thing.
ALSO -put your left hand in your pocket and keep it there. A shock left to right hand goes via your heart. Right hand to your feet doesn't (and insulating shoes also help). Working one handed is awkward, but around live kit you have a better chance to survive accidental contact.
@@lardo666 One would like to think you are correct . It would be impossible to test.
But, knowing how the heart conduction works, it is highly unlikely to offer real protection. Arrhythmia would result and without an AED, it would be fatal.
@@miguelservetus9534 When I was an apprentice I had a shock from a fuse holder (a.c.) in my left hand to a metal ladder held in my right hand, I couldn't let go (fell off the ladder to break contact). D.C. or one hand with insulated shoes and you tend to pull away fast! So it is possible to test, but not by choice!
A shock to the palm side of the hand does more damage to your flexor tendons and muscles, which affect grip. Damaging or loosing your grip makes your hands much less useful. The back of the hand has extensor muscles and tendons. If you damage or loose them, you will not be able to open your hand flat, but you will likely still have the ability to hold a fork and pull up your socks!
finally some real tractors on your channel, still running 1970's 444 and 474
I love these side trips you and Grant take. Though I know nothing about farming except what I learn from you Laura, I still love seeing everything.
That 4 row planter brings back a lot of memories. Only thing ours were J/D green. Looks like a good time just the same.
👍🚜🇺🇸👍
Love, love, love the teamwork between you two.
When you're having a bad day with each other, please keep that in mind; you are the person who has the other person's back.
LOVE them old International tractors I think they changed the farming industry forever..
Thank you for sharing the tractor show with us. My grandfather was a field rep for Hyder farm tractors back in the 1920's and traveled around Ohio to different farm field days events.
If it ain’t Red, keep it in the shed! 😂
Hyder is actually spelled, Heider. Just wanted you to know so you can find info easier.
@@stevestrohacker8436 thank you for the information as I never know how it was spelled and I just heard my grandfather talk about it. My grandfather also had his tools to work on the tractors when he died. My oldest brother needed some special tools to work on his motorcycle and my grandfather let him use his tools.
Heider Tractors of Carroll, Iowa. They later made wagons etc.
My grandfather had a Heider.
Your looking at the back bone of farming laura,,some of those antiques is what was first after a mule lol,,farmer grayce would luv it
THAT RED EQUIPMENT CONTRIBUTED TO THE TECHNOLOGY that helped inform the engineers that brought us Case, JD, Massy, Allis and on, and on and on.
Hi Laura, thank you for your always inspiring videos..
A little consideration on the red tractor show, the gap between the equipment and technology that our grandparents used and the one we have available today is astonishing.👨🏻🌾👨🏻🌾
This was a lot of fun. I love tractor shows.
Case and IH got engaged in November, 1984. They got married in February, 1985. Prior to that, IH produced a large line or farm equipment. They used any number of names for their products. Think about how many lines os cars and trucks GM once produced. A good number of the older models were good, dependable work horses. During the 1960s, we planted two rows of corn at a time. Same with cultivating and harvesting. All done with a Farmall C with a gas engine.
One of the many things I so enjoy about your channel is the way we get to see how far equipment has come and how much technology play such a role.
I love your content and what you and Grant are doing.
The first tractor on a family farm, regardless of color, was a huge step forward when compared with a team of mules! When you’re plowing or planting a 40 or 80 acre farm, you don’t need a 400 hp 4wd diesel!
@@rickcottrell535 - when I was young, I always went to the field with my unclesAnd cousins when we visited them in Tennessee. More than one of my uncle was still using a team of mules.
With all the current imports, be thankful that the red equipment is all made in America. Too many imports! We still love you.
My Dad was a Farmall & IH salesman here on Eastern Long Island back when the entire crop was potatoes. Today, it's mostly vegetables and wine grapes. I grew up with farming and still live here surrounded by it. Love your show, 'cause it keeps me connected. Thanks!
Thak You!! Grant & Laura
Loved The Tractor Tour!! Love The History On Old Tractors!!
Keep Smiling On!!
😄👍👊❤️
Not only do we enjoy your videos, we learn so, so much! Thank you.
That " Blue pick up" is
awesome !
Thanks for sharing this gift of ...adventures!!
C ya on the next
video!!!
👍🐺🧙♂️
Hey! I used to have an Allis WD45! One of the most versatile tractors I've ever had. Mowing hay, raking, square baleing, running the elevator to the barn, cultivating, mowing, discing, plantingn etc. Hand crank start, narrow front end(knuckle buster). Of course it was the only tractor I had 40 years ago.... so there's that...
You drove a red combine for a few years, Laura. All tractors are cool
The 2+2 ant eater was a row crop 4x4 tractor that was actually way ahead of its time. I got to drive one when i was a kid. They also turned unbelievably short for how long they were. You could turn them around on a gravel road without having to back up. Very cool tractor for the time.
But VERY un popular.
I really enjoyed todays adventure, thanks for taking me along. I live in the Central Valley of Ca and we have a huge farm show every year in Tulare, which I attend every few years. I'm with you Laura on that "very nice" blue international truck. What a beauty!! Have a good week and thanks for all that you and Grant do.
Love going to the World Ag Show!!
@@jerryfischer3988 Agree! So much to see and learn. It makes for a great day!
Thanks for taking us along for this International/Farmall show. I grew up in the 50's through the 70's and we had a mixture of tractors all from the 40's. Farmall M John Deere and Olivers. Basically, what we could afford, and we maintained them very well. I don't care what brand it is if you take car e of it, it will do the job and last. Another great video.
"There is always so much going on out on Laura farms and a big part of your work is supporting other teams to help other farmers with what's top of mind throughout the seasons".
We have corn tasseling on July 4th in north central IA. I drive a 1953 Farmall Super M on antique tractor rides.
Thanks for bringing us along, guys! Beautiful corn!!! Nice old tractors!
Growing up with all the different brands of tractors in the 60s was one of the most cherished aspects of my life! I Grew up farming with all of those brands and loved hearing about the huge controversy when Deere went away from two cylinder engines to four and six cylinders. When my Dad would buy a new tractor the dealers for Massey Ferguson, case, John Deere, and IH would all bring demonstrators for us to try. It was a blast operating old these tractors when they were factory new!!! What I am impressed with to this day was that all of the brands performed well but Deere stands out as the most comfortable, useable, refined and EXPENSIVE!! to this very day you will pay a premium for the best!
best thing about those shows is the amount of history that's there with each piece. people didn't buy tractors back then to restore them and bring them back to life, they bought them to build their futures.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Thanks for taking us to the red power farm show. The older IH equipment looked great. These collectors really put a lot of time and work into these old pieces of equipment. Beautiful tractors and equipment.
Thanks for going over the irrigation equipment with us. A lot more to it than one thinks. Expensive setup you have there. But it grows the crops for you. Nice. Valley is known around the world for its equipment.
Thanks for everything Laura.
The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
I'm impressed with the fact that you said " Grant and I " not " me and Grant " showing proper upbringing !!!!! You can always tell a great farmer by the color of his GREEN tractors with YELLOW wheels , PERIOD !!!!!
Can't Wait to See you guys at the Next Red Power Round Up. Then Red Will Take Over the Farm 🚜 🤘🤠🤘
Laura & Grant thank you for your weekly vlogs! I enjoy them immensely. This was a great look back at some historical equipment but as you know “ nothing runs like a Deere”. Thanks again for sharing your farm days with all of us!!
Farm in Australia, all our tractors are red.. My grandfather bought the first red tractor for our farm, we have stayed loyal. Would love to visit that show.
Irrigation is so cool. Not many farms have such amazing set ups. You two are doing so well.
I was at the RPRU .Yes I love the red tractors. I'm glad you guys liked the show
It just shows you that you cannot stop progress no matter how much you love the present technology it will always be improving to some extent. Love your eyes by the way gorgeous colour and so clear.
Great video. Actually got to meet Grant & Laura at this show, when they were walking around!! Very nice people, THANK YOU. I think Grant was "secretly" drooling over some of that red equipment?! HAHA! GO BIG RED Keep up the great content and showing agriculture to your audience.
Love the old tractors and farm equipment. It's nice to see folks with the dedication needed to take care of that stuff so it CAN be around for another century. Also enjoyed the pivot start-up routines. But I thought the very first thing to be done around one of them is to check for mice. . .
My first real "" Large Car"", tractor,as in tractortrailer truck was a 1982 COE Transtar. Yes! International has a terrific reputation and history in the farming world! Most farmers used "" Cornbinders"" to haul milk and grain too! You two are great. Enjoy your videos
Real farm girls love the planet. Good work Little Laura. Hug the fam for us
Mashaallah beautiful ❤
i grew up with john deer's and it is still the only ones we will buy, but i love looking at all tractors at the shows.
Years ago I flew my airplane to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa for the Red Power Round Up. I flew around and found a race track with a bazilion red tractors, landed at the airport and got a ride. Great show and the best pancakes ever!
I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't wear a John Deere t-shirt to the tractor show! I feel an opportunity has been missed!😄
Laura, you just left Grant hangin on his “high-five” but in your defense it was a little noisy! The tour of the red tractors was Cool
Vice grips (or Mole wrenches) are great. I had a distributor bolt fail many years ago when I was up in snow country in Australia. It was after dark and snow was falling. I had a timing light in my tool kit and managed to set the timing correctly. I used a vice grip to hold it, replacing the broken bolt. It ran that way for a couple of months.
We were among the very first in the north east of england to run John Deere's back in 76 , but IH were a very good machine.
Laura, some of the older red tractors reminds me of the cast iron tractor we sent you. And I so appreciate your taking the time to film these events.
... Love going to shows with you guys .. equipment shows are AWESOME !! .. Hard to believe what things were in the beginning of the power age ..
At least the fair grounds are being used for a lot of events. Drove through G I about a month ago and saw all the new Case combines at the factory on 281. Good work Laura and Grant.
Thanks for the trip through Cass country.
😉
Wicked funny listening to you two whisper around the tractors at the show like you were afraid you might me identified for your love of John Deere tractors LOL
I loved looking at the old equipment, so awesome. Thanks for bringing it to us.
Not only does the battery cable need a repalcement clamp but that old tank nearby needs a paint job. I recommend white for reflectivity. 😀👍
Your corn is looking healthy and strong. Keep up the great videos and all your hard work. Bless your crops Laura and Grant🙏
Laura & Grant,
Thank you for taking me away from suburbia for a while. The paperwork will wait, the estimates will wait and I will wait for the next video from you two. Thank you again.
Thank you for shearing your life to us ⭐️🎬
I guess it is Grant who does the shearing. Laura does the sharing.
@@ernstoud I love them both
Love the teamwork you two have. You are both lucky and fortunate to have each other on the farm. Not very many young farmers have a spouse that can do what each of you do on the farm. You can fix anything. Oh, by the way, did you meet Pete from “just a few acres farm” there. He collects and uses those antique red tractors on his farm back in upstate New York.
You guys are the best. I'm 69 years old. Love you guys.
Heck, I'm not even a farmer but I have always liked old tractors no matter what brand. I do live in farm country and go to the 4H fairs to see the historic tractors they always exhibit. Always a great day too.
My grandfather used a JD 420 on his farm in Georgia. Used to ride it around the fields after he quit farming. It still runs today.
@ 10:36 … SHOTS FIRED!!!! 😂 flew over your house today… looking good
I like the old tractors, too!
The vice grip is a nice touch. My old favourite is the hose clamp substitute for a battery terminal contact.
Those Vice Grips damage the battery post a little more each time they're used. Surface area of contact is what conducts the electricity, not the gripping force. That unshielded prop shaft is a nice touch too. Saves time not installing one, like it saves time not installing a battery terminal. Then the guy videos his young wife working on that dangerous set-up of his.
SOOO, Laura, now your hurting my feelings. I was and still am a RED guy. 46 years in the business. Did you know that the Case-IH Steiger series blows away John Deere in every test. And don't forget, how many hours did you spend in your fathers RED combine. Be nice. Just a little Red vs Green humor. Love ya both. Praying for a good harvest for all.
Speaking of Steiger they built the articulated tractor Laura said reminded her of a Big Bud the only differences is an IH engine and paint and decals
@mikestuckey6541 Yes Mike, I'm well aware of that. Remember in my comment, I was in the equipment business for 46 yrs. Just having a little red/green fun with Laura.
@denniswalston1217 of course I wasn't trying to say you didn't know was just meaning that more for Laura
@mikestuckey6541 OK Mike. Got it. Laura is such a joy. Her precious smile and work ethics makes our lives a little bit better. Her followers reflect that. Have a great day
@denniswalston1217 couldn't agree more and her and Grant's willingness to share their farm journey with us makes it great and have a great day
I hope see those old tractors makes you realize what you have now makes life easier. It took longer to do a field with many breakdowns during the day!!!
Laura, to bad you didn't run in to Peter from "Just a few acres farm". He was there all three days and could've given you lots of history about IH tractors and equipment.
You guys look so great working together!! Continued Good Luck with your crops!! I learn SO MUCH!!!
No matter the color, you have to admit, farm history is cool.
Love the little IH “A” tractors, reminds me of my youth.
"Green Stuff" My choice as well.. but cool to see - Thanks for sharing.
I saw a couple of Farmall tractors similar to the one I drove a couple of summers in the late 50's. Also, my Gramps had one too. Fun for you to take us along.
Laura Keep it in the garage and stay on the fluids and maintenance and your DODGE will last you a long while!!!!!! Oil and Coolant changes being NUMber 1!!!!
Noticed the rest of the essentials kit in the Ranger- so cool- an old battery, small sledgehammer, Vice grips and sure there is a can of WD-40 in the box. Perfect!!
Ohhhhh. The red vs green argument! I grew up on a farm with red tractors, and my wife grew up with green tractors. Even though we aren't farmers ourselves, we often still tease each other about which one is better whenever we see tractors in the fields. 😀
You guys sure have fun, and going to that show you were looking a living history...look how far Agriculture has come, just think in 100 years people will be looking at your legacy with the same look of awe, amazement and respect...kinda cool isn't it?!
Hi Laura, as always my wife and I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I received your tee-shirts yesterday and they are amazing. Bunker Branding makes a high quality shirt and their sizing guide is spot on.
Thanks you guys that was fun. God Bless.❤🙏
Good Job Nice farming best irrigation system nice corn Best of luck God bless you 👍
The red ones did all the hard work back in the day can't beat them vintage tractors although I'm sort of glad things have improved and made easier
I grew up on the 3588 2+2 articulated tractor. Fantastic memories on that “long hood tractor.”
Love your videos Laura. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Rest in piece Grants high five 2023-2023.
You will be missed.
Thanks for the sharing the International show.
The older Deeres and Farmalls were great! My father had a Super M with a hand clutch. Lots of power for it's day. It was tough getting used to the hand clutch on our JD 60. It was a great tractor, though. The old 2 cylinder Deeres sounded pretty cool.
I know it was extremely rough on you guys, LOL, but thanks for the ride! from SEIN
My grandpa had an International from the late 60´s with a cabin. Remember it from my childhood. It got totally renovated in the 2000´s. It was very beautiful red and white and nicely done as well. This was in Finland. Didn't see any of same modell on your video there must have been , I'm sure.. Don't remember the model number. Nice vid.😃👍👃
Can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy coming home from work, grabbing something to eat and finding a new Laura Farms video. Makes my day!
Thanks for sharing the farm SHOW!!!!!
Love that glossy blue 1957 pickup!
I was there the first day of the show; and I kept asking people if they had seen you and Grant. Sorry I missed you two. I had your "Ford truck" t-shirt on.
Very nice video. I love watching the way you two work and play together. Cute couple and informative. Thanks
Thanks for sharing! ❤
I grew up Red you grew up green. I won’t hold it against you. Thanks for another great video. 🇺🇸🌽
Laura with her Hi's & By's are = to a Director yelling Action and Cut!
Grant, the award winning executive producer, says exit stage left. His cab-over chariot awaits!
Mr. Berry had an old International with an old metal bucket seat on his Apple farm huge orchards. Never saw him not using it. It would hall the apple crate trailer everywhere during picking season. He passed many years ago, he was of good character so many stories. Apple crates in one of the barns stacked almost up to the rafters there were so many.
One of the tractors you passed by made me think of him.
new to this channel, and I enjoyed this video so much, Thank you, guys.......
I enjoyed this video as much this time as the last time you released it, lol. I always enjoy your videos. Back in 94 I bought a new Case in one week that thing went down for the count, could not afford green bought Blue and darn happy I did X 3 sold the first Ford at bout 20 years of working her the second last year at 28 years of work still have a 94 here and working, both of the others are still working.. No break downs!.
I agree the Green stuff is the best.
Yeah, on the new JD 9.0 liter, you only have to replace the crankshaft dampener every 4,000 engine hours or they eat the timing case. The really bad ones fail in 3,000 hours.
