      I was also going to comment on his excellent sportsmanship. Really, really admirable. As they both said, good memory is ultimately just a skill. Good character is something more than that.

      I'm just a regular guy but I remember phone numbers that weren't even said directly to me almost 20 years ago, and I do remember random bar names. I can't imagine what these people have to deal with

      Sure, if you want to construct an elaborate min palace every time you want to remember a phone number. If that's what it takes to "have an exceptional memory," I think I'd rather just write things down.

      @@scottk1525 Is it really that tedious Scott? Once practiced it becomes effortless, automatic and efficient. Memorizing 15 000 in under 30 minutes is worth it.

    Mind is truly an exeptional organ. I myself has a poor memory and getting poorer. :-( This somehow inspire me to pratice not for any competition (although I had that in mind) but more for myself. Like yesterday, I just forgot to take 2000 pesos when I withdrew on an ATM. I was not in myself. My goodness. I was so stressed and disappoited and humilliated about myself and of course to my mom cuz its her's. I better practice what I've learned.

    The tricks that memory champions rely on are a bit disappointing. They "have an amazing memory" in the same way that crossfitters "can do 30 pullups." I think a true memory champion would be able to recall things effortlessly, without having to rely on bizarre strategies of constructing elaborate mind palaces every time they want to remember a phone number.

      Check out Ron White's youtube channel. Just search for 'Ron White memory' here on youtube. If you imploy these techniques it really helps alot. I use it whenever I have an exam.
