- A playthrough of Tecmo's 1993 license-based football game for the Sega Genesis, Tecmo Super Bowl.
Keeping up with the theme of the week, my final Super Bowl offering for 2024 is a full season of the Sega Genesis version of Tecmo Super Bowl played as the Kansas City Chiefs. As luck would have it, I ended up facing the San Francisco 49ers for the Super Bowl game (6:58:16).
The SNES game is great, but if I had to choose between the two 16-bit versions of Tecmo Super Bowl, I'd take the Genesis port. They play the same, but I prefer the way this looks and sounds. Its graphics aren't as colorful and the voice samples are rough, but this one's presentation feels more in line with the spirit of the original NES game, and the music rocks so much harder in FM.
Beyond that, I've already talked about TSB several times with my previous uploads, so I don't have much else to say here. If you'd like to check out any of those playthroughs, here are a few links:

NintendoComplete (www.nintendocomplete.com/) punches you in the face with in-depth reviews, screenshot archives, and music from classic 8-bit NES games! - Hry
My favorite Tecmo Super Bowl game will always be the NES one, but it's hard to deny how excellent this upgraded Genesis port is.
Man this is narly! Never heard of it but always was a lover, admirer of SEGA Genesis as it had such superb graphics compared to my NES. wow. And I love they only changed very little to not ruin the gameplay. SEGA and NES forever
God I love this port. One of the things that doesn't get talked about imo, is the Genesis has better Cutscenes than the SNES port. I always love the animation when you score a touchdown via pass play.
Awesome Playthrough man!
I do too. Thanks! :)
1:25: “It’s been 245 days since the last full Sunday of the regular season, but the wait… is… over! This is a cool port of TSB. My favorite is the Super NES port.
The intro really has the good Genesis twang to it
I tell ya Tecmo was so ahead of the time.
One of my favorites versions of Tecmo Super Bowl
the closest to the nes version
My preferred way to play TSB. Lost count of how many times I have listened to the soundtrack. It's even better than the SNES version.
Now that all four versions of Tecmo Super Bowl have been uploaded, maybe next year: Tecmo Super Bowl II: Special Edition, Tecmo Super Bowl III: Final Edition, Super High Impact and the Madden NFL franchise!
A classic, now with Genesis twang
The only football game I've ever liked.
7:20:00: “Well, kids, that’ll do it for us. Another NFL season is in the books, and the Kansas City Chiefs are once again Super Bowl Champions, and, Allie, my friend, once again, it’s been a blast!”-Tracy Wolfson.
“The pleasure has been all mine, Tracy, and we look forward to 2024.”-Allie LaForce.
“That’s it for another season of NFL Football on Koei Tecmo Sports! For Allie LaForce, Bianna Golodryga, Nicole Zaloumis, Lauren Lake, Bonnie Bernstein, Rachel Riley and the entire crew at KT Sports, this is Tracy Wolfson saying so long from Sin City! Take care, kids, stay well and safe, everyone, and we’ll see you right back here next September when we’ll do it all over again! So long, everybody!”-Tracy Wolfson.
even the Houston Oilers team before they moved to Tennessee. Rams and Raiders were in LA..
chargers in san diego, cardinals as phoenix
6:57:29: “Thomas is tackled at the 5-yard-line and the game… is… OVER!!!!!! THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS, THE TEAM LAMAR HUNT FOUNDED, HAS JUST WON LAMAR HUNT’S TROPHY, AND NOW, IT’S ON TO THE SUPER BOWL IN VEGAS!!!!!”-Mitch Holthus.
“Thomas gets taken down, and that’s all she wrote, kids! The Kansas City Chiefs head back to the Super Bowl! Holy Jesus, Viva Las Vegas!”-Tracy Wolfson.
READY DOWN HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT ..............
San Francisco 49ers champion🏆
Damn, I really wish we got Game Boy and Game Gear ports of this game
True, it’s also too bad there wasn’t a Sega CD version as well
Regular Tecmo Bowl was on Gameboy
its really too bad that they screwed up the psx version and didnt stick to the original formula.@@NintendoComplete
6:58:17: “Hello kids, and welcome to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, and to the crown jewel of the NFL season! This is Super Bowl LVIII where the San Francisco 49ers will do battle with the Kansas City Chiefs with the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy at stake! And now, for the final time this season, it’s time for me to say ‘Hello Kids!’ I’m Tracy Wolfson alongside my longtime NFL on Nickelodeon tag team partner and my longtime friend and protégé Allie LaForce, roaming the sidelines will be Bianna Golodryga and Nicole Zaloumis, our rules analyst will be Lauren Lake, and in the studio will be Bonnie Bernstein and Rachel Riley, and Allie, 60 minutes from right now, either the Chiefs or the 49ers will hit the jackpot and win it all!”-Tracy Wolfson.
Woohoo let's go chiefs!!!
A coincidental Super Bowl LV matchup! But Steve DeBerg is no Tom Brady. ;)
Why are the Chiefs receivers so slow⭐️But at 58:29 look at how fast the defense moved to get that safety⭐️That secondary gotta be on Excellent or something⭐️Excellent is like the fastest speed⭐️
So is sports Your way of honoring Feburary?
Just the Super Bowl, really.
@@NintendoComplete ah, I see.
Wait, the Chiefs QB has no name at all?
it was joe montana and qb vikings was jim mcmahon
@@kefkarothsephka7708 Weird that the game ain't naming Joe Montana when he was named in other Tecmo Super Bowls.
maybe he didnt renew his nflpa license when this came out for tecmo to use the name. remember he wasnt a starter qb for basically 2 years until the final game of the 92 season.@@SMAXZO
Joe Montana's name and likeness were licensed to another game.
Far superior to the SNES version
........ At least give the opponent good plays so they can have some kind of a Fighting Chance. I'm watching the Chiefs Buccs game right now 63 to nothing so yeah I kind of BORING I've watched you beat that dead horse enough now I like games where it's a competition an actual game. People want to watch a good fight. Not glass Joe taking on iron Mike Tyson
I think a lot of Tecmo fans that are purists prefer the NES version because of this. The CPU would always be juiced up and harder to beat at the end of the season. This version was always my favorite though as far as graphics/animation as well as being able to go into GM mode. In order to make this competitive what you really need to do is create at least 1-2 super teams that you play against during season/playoffs. Also, head to head vs friends was really competitive in this version.
@@michaelneelin1847usually most players say they like the SNES version better than the Genesis. I'm gonna say I do to but for the sequels I like TSB 2 special edition on Sega Genesis the best, the cutscenes are the best and the view of the uprights when kicking field goals are the best in my opinion 🏈
