Great positive thoughts. Some days just investing in your self practicing for the job test. Spent a couple days practicing at the Boilermaker hall in Edmonton Ab and payed of on 5 weld test SMAW, FCAW for structural and TIG, SMAW 6G than my mig root. Now working on vessels and bundles for heat exchanger manufacturing.
I love the videos man they’re really awesome and definitely a motivator for me. I actually am in Odessa right now searching hard for a helper job because I don’t have very much experience doing pipe but I have a good enough experience doing structural.
Excellent work, keep it coming! I'm considering a career switch or at least a second job so doing as much practicing at home as I can. You guys inspire me and a lot of other guys.
This is the best video yet! You guys make a good team, enjoy watching both of you fellas. This video makes me crave welding something immediately lol Thank you for sharing your life with us
Nice job cutting with the torch. My brother-in-law did some fabricating with a plasma cutter, but a bit sloppy. Were you also cutting with a stick welding rig? Or welding up at the far end (couldn’t tell)
My welder friend started out on a Lincoln 200. He has since worn out a Diesel 300. He went back to a gas powered Lincoln in 2017, and claims that he'll never get another diesel one.
Nice template and layout this is one of the hardest type of fits and fabs to do I have to use my table from my W.C.Graves BlueBook to this day on these and miter pipe layouts then you gotta have a steady hand with plasma or cutting torch I've seen some use a MeTaBO and a 1/2 drill for the curves for cutouts to over the years but this is where you earn journeyman pay at right here starting with this type fits
i'm decent at stick welding and just got a mig and ironically am having a hard time with the mig.. lol i guess i just prefer stick welding. but good job guys
There are software wrap around templates you can get but the good ones are plotted out on a engineering wide format plotter. Yes, I know you don't keep that kinda thing in your truck. The Layout you show looks good though.
Question: did you find when oil prices crashed 3 years ago work dried up or not at all? In Alberta the economy crashed for oil and gas but the last year things seem to have improve with the rising oil price.
Love the videos. Did you go to welding school because I’m from Ash Grove and I’ve heard a lot of good things about Missouri welding institute in Nevada and am debating on going there after school and I was just wondering what you think about it.
Zachariah Lawson thanks for the reply. Now is there something I’m missing about the job though ? Is there very little work available ? Is there hidden things that you have to pay for ? I just really want to know a lot about the job before making a decision on that carrier path. I have been really wanting to talk to someone in the industry and ask a few questions. It would be great if you good answer them. Thanks.
Love the videos my dream is to own my own rig one day I love down in south Louisiana and I’ve just got my nccer in structural welding but trying to work my way up and get better and tips from and experienced welder would be appreciated
Hey man I'm really interested to get on the pipeline right now I'm 17 working at a fire truck manufacture on coop I was wonder on the steps to take to get on the pipeline
Your grinders are def losing life laying in the dirt. The dust gets inside and causes them to overheat. Fab up a simple tray on it's own stand to hang the grinders and stinger on the side of. And you can lay the gas axe in the tray and striker etc..
Have you watched Jacob schofield? His and your channel are great I'm just a shop welder building stainless tanks with tig but these videos inspire me to broaden my skills and learn things like this one day..
I used to do that. And I wanted to know more, so that's what I did. And yes, I have seen his videos. I'd like to meet him one day. Maybe eventually do a collaboration video with him. I need to get his email, or his number.
That truck in the background behind you, the rusty on... not the GMC ... See if it's for sale and put your bed on it... that's what I'm looking to do... an old-school truck with newer parts, then I'd have style ! and functional truck... Make it a 4x4 (cuz it's a straight frame, it's easy) with a 12 valve and a 6 speed manual... whatcha think?
It'd sure be awesome! But I want a newer truck, more reliable and comfortable! I don't know if you're a rig welder or not, but I spend more time in and around my truck than I do in my camper. So the more reliable and the more comfortable it is the better!
Haha I'm working at a plant/station/storage field for midwestern contractors and peoples gas hired us but they also hired burns&mac as an engineering firm that runs 3 other contractors out here.
You would have to carry too much equipment. Most pipeliners use sa200's. They are a DC output only and usually only have one 110 plug. So if you were to use a plasma cutter you would need a bigger machine. One that could power the plasma cutter, and an air compressor at the same time. It's just easier to carry bottles and some hose.
Have you thought of going with 798? Old friend of mine did real good with them. And you don’t have to dispatch yourself. Thanks (I have no connection to 798)
Zachariah Lawson I think you got what it takes. From my understanding they have a lot of work going on. Go to the 798 website and take a look at the pay scale. Might be buried in the contract. This is the current dispatch link: www.local798.org/assets/orders.pdf And this is the pre-job list: www.local798.org/assets/prejobs.pdf Home page: www.local798.org/ Let. Me know what you think. Most people who are down on unions, have never worked for a good one!
Yes he does. I thought I referred to him in this video but I may have forgot to edit it in. I know how to lay it out and weld it. Just have never done it on a test.
Zachariah Lawson I hear yea man, just throwing it out there. If your ever looking for video ideas it be pretty cool to run threw a whole weld. Bead, hot pass , fill and cap. Going over where you set your remote for each and what techniques you use for each. There’s a couple videos up already but there kinda bland and are missing a lot of info. Just a idea, keep up the good work man. And if you and your buddy want to come to pa there’s a ton of work up here!
Metabos are good but not twice or better and warranty is less time and harder to deal with now. Some of there shit is even made in China and it shows. Hundred bucks for literally harbor freight quality. Nope.
James Shafer also 798 wages so much higher than non-union.. It all depends on who you know/ if you’re cliqued up in a spread and a company like myself. I hire in company side but I’m 798. I go where the company goes we have the biggest spread in the United States. We carry the same 798 welders and the same Union operators and labors
Great positive thoughts. Some days just investing in your self practicing for the job test.

Of course you can't say no to a face like that, no matter what the issue was. Great lesson! Thank you !
Nice job cutting with the torch. My brother-in-law did some fabricating with a plasma cutter, but a bit sloppy. Were you also cutting with a stick welding rig? Or welding up at the far end (couldn’t tell)

Thanks! It always does!
Awesome thanks for making this,,

Keep on Keepin on!! Keep up the good work on the Vids and Keep Practising!
Will do! Thanks for the comment!
I just ran across your channel. I remember seeing your truck in pecos a while back and wandering what the LZ was for. Just funny to see you hear after
Good vids , does every job require you to do a 12on12 branch , ??? To get the job
Hey man if I were looking for work on the line how would I find it cause they don’t have that shit out here in NC where I’m at.
I just subscribed to your channel, keep on trying and striving to do your best. Good luck and God bless.
Guy that’s a lot of butter
Best vidya yet
I’m a female that’s looking to get into welding. Any advice on the environment and if you’d recommend this job for someone like me
How much pipeline work would you say is left?
There are software wrap around templates you can get but the good ones are plotted out on a
engineering wide format plotter. Yes, I know you don't keep that kinda thing in your truck. The Layout you show looks good though.
Hey bro do yall get paid to practice or is on your own time. And when do u have time to practice?
Just keep the videos coming👍👍
Im going to do my best to try and post twice a week!
what's the song with the sax?
Hey, I’m going to college to be a pipeliner, i was just wondering if you could make a video. On how to make a good root pass, or some techniques.
I will try and add it into a video for ya!
Zachariah Lawson thanks man appreciate IT! Will help me out a lot!
Question: did you find when oil prices crashed 3 years ago work dried up or not at all?
In Alberta the economy crashed for oil and gas but the last year things seem to have improve with the rising oil price.
Rig work did dry up, but back then I was singlehand welding. So I was working. I had a lot of friends out of work though.
Which academy that y’all where in to do pipeline welding ?
Love the videos. Did you go to welding school because I’m from Ash Grove and I’ve heard a lot of good things about Missouri welding institute in Nevada and am debating on going there after school and I was just wondering what you think about it.
I did, I have another video on how I started welding and everything I went through to get where I am at! Go check it out!
Zachariah Lawson ok thanks
Saulsbury is always hiring welders
How do you keep Hank from getting his hair everywhere
Great video man. I’m 16 hoping to get into pipeline welding after high school. I just have one question. Is the pay really what everyone says it is ?
Yes.
Thanks.
Message me on Instagram, I will have a conversation with ya on there! Zachariah_lawson
Song?
Love the videos my dream is to own my own rig one day I love down in south Louisiana and I’ve just got my nccer in structural welding but trying to work my way up and get better and tips from and experienced welder would be appreciated
Good luck Justin! Thanks for watching.
Can u do a rig tour of Parker’s rig???
Hey man I'm really interested to get on the pipeline right now I'm 17 working at a fire truck manufacture on coop I was wonder on the steps to take to get on the pipeline
Where do you live and what do you wanna do on the pipeline?
And do you want to go the union or non union route
were are you, hope things are going well.
Your grinders are def losing life laying in the dirt. The dust gets inside and causes them to overheat. Fab up a simple tray on it's own stand to hang the grinders and stinger on the side of. And you can lay the gas axe in the tray and striker etc..
I've had those grinders for four years now, with no problems. I would like to build a stand for them with a magnet on the bottom though.
Zachariah Lawson Do you ever repair those grinders? Like the brushes. Less than $30 bucks for new ones.
Daniel Hough i
Wut up man i remember u from pro energy jaja is crazy found u on here with out trying ...hope everything is good dude just passing by to say wut up
Wow, me a and you don't live far form each other haha. i bet i've seen your truck around while i've been in missouri.

Austin and Kayla have good videos but don't think they compare to jakes
Where the vids

Wm H I am back in Springfield! Decided to try and start my own business
@@ZachariahLawson I'll bet you'll be a success. Safe travels friend. I'll be looking for vids if you make back out to the shale.
Did you build your lead reels?
I bought them from a friend. He made them like 20 years ago..
Oh ok was thinking about building a set just looking for some ideas yours are the best I've seen some of the best I've seen so far
They work great! Whatever you do, make sure your bearings are replaceable! If you happen to arc them off it can weld the balls together.
Yeah that's where I'm having a hard time is trying to make the cable on the reel connect back to the machine
is that "the" parker the pipeliner???
dillenger holmes i think it is!
Why are you posting any more videos is it your Internet just wondering

Burns McDonnell is looking for rig hands....its plant work. Hooch work....
Haha I'm working at a plant/station/storage field for midwestern contractors and peoples gas hired us but they also hired burns&mac as an engineering firm that runs 3 other contractors out here.
So funny you say that
The whole point is to see how you are welding
Last scene with Dewalt is cool. What happend :) disobey
Grinder burned up and he decided to throw it away.
Why don't pipeliners use plasma cutters.

Couldn’t make it 798 lmao
sloane Huddleston 798 has 2% of active pipelines being built. That’s why union hands are working non union right? Lol hand
You won’t find a 798 welder weld non union
