Kylo's Tie has to be the worst Legendary released so far. It is only good with one leader and then when it hits the board, does nothing at all. Trades horribly with one of the most used space cards in the game right now, Inferno Four. This could have been a U or R at most, but now you have a chance to pull a dollar bin Legendary. Feels bad.
You might be right but I kinda prefer it if legendaries are niche build arounds for certain decks rather than hyper staples as that results in them getting silly expensive.
I also wonder if it being a turn 1 3 power unit in space might just be good. Turn 1 space units rarely seem to have more than 2 power so being 3 power means you can pressure space with your agro deck for 3 each turn if your opponent had turn 1 deployed a battlefield marine to ground. It also has a lot of future potential purely off the back of recursion being very powerful. Things with the madness mechanic in mtg tend to be pretty powerful despite costing more for having madness and this guy doesn’t even increase his cost to play out of the bin. It also has the flexibility of not having to be played immediately.
I think at the moment it will likely be a niche build around but there’s potential here.
There's no way this is a dollar bin legendary but I hope people continue thinking that so I can pick them up for a dollar!!!

Maybe I'm just bad at this game, but I think they're 2 of the worst cards spoiled from the set 2 imo. My reaction if you have 0 card in hand and you play Kylo's Tie will be "oh no a 3-2 space unit, whatever, here's a cost 2 wing leader that gave me 2 exp and trade with your legendary tie, if I attack". Deploying Kylo with 0 card in hand will be a blessing because I know you have nothing in hand to deal with my units and I can just one shot your Kylo with Open Fire, Takedown or basically any unit with 4 power. Again, I'm very new to TCG, but they seem terrible.
While I don’t hate Kylo Ren, he's actually a pretty cool character, I think Ben Solo is way more fun and cooler. I wish they would have had Adam Driver play Ben a little more than he got too.
As for the Leader card, I’m not sure. It seems good, obviously some sort of aggro mill deck if you throw that 'Palpatine’s Return' card in there. I’m more of a heroism player than villainy anyways lol.
I wonder if Rickety could work well in Thrawn Blue?
What about a casino deck with palp return?
They should have stuck to theme and made an event card for Kylo called “Juvenile Temper Tantrum” that makes you roll a die and destroy some of your own resources whenever he gets beaten🤣🤣🤣
Thoughts on Emperor's return. At 7 resources, Force Throw, discard your own Emperor (or Vader) for direct damage, next turn play Emperor's return.
Why next turn since you can do all these at 7 resources? Throw costs 1 and return 6 for any of those units since they are force. You can even do throw earlier before 6 resources and at 6 resources bring vader or palp
@@sparta1821 I considered each action a turn since the official SWU rules refers to the whole regroup/resource/action process as one round. So I agree, use the next action to bring play Emperor's Return

hear me out. Force throw plus palpatines return seems cracked. 3 card combo but could be fun in a vader green deck

Using Kylo's +2/+0 on Punishing One to hit for 10 with a single unit, in a single turn, seems absolutely busted.
Right? Things that can re-ready units or just ready themselves get immensely more valuable.

Welcome to CZcams. Clickbait increases CtR. It’s annoying I know, but blame the algorithm lol
Kylo Ren is bad. You get no use out of him turn 1. Turn 2 you can use him - but if you buff a unit and then an opponent removes it (either via attack or removal cards) you get a 2 for 1 against you. Turn 3 you can also use it again, with the same risks, but you also get to deploy the leader - but he'll be -1 or -2 most likely. He'll be easy to remove at 4 health on turn 3. The 'synergy' with his tiny ship is meaningless as if you pay the cost for the ship you can't use the cost of a card in hand. It works *against* the goals of the Ren deck by providing you an option to spend resources that isn't depleting your hand.
This seems to be a lower tier choice in limited and a non-starter for constructed. Unless there is tailored support that does really benefit Kylo based upon the discard mechanic, this is another IG.

The big thing with Kylo that I see when comparing him to IG is that unlike IG, his leader side action doesn't allow you to attack with the unit you pump. In the scenario where you're pitching something round 2 to pump your round 1 stormtrooper, well... you opponent just trades their round 1 unit into it, and unless you've pitched a Silencer, you've been 2-for-1ed. I also don't really see how the payoff is bigger here, since you're trading coming down a turn earlier for a pretty significant downside in that in order to actually get to that 5 power, you'll either need to be playing extremely close to the ground or you're pitching cards you may want a turn or two later.
While I'm sure there are pieces of the archetype we haven't seen yet (I can't imagine they expect us to build an entire deck around one legendary 2-drop spaceship) as of right now, the fact that "is he really better than IG-88?" is even a question worth considering doesn't bode well for his viability.
Well if you've played an IG deck, they run pretty similar to what I'd imagine for Kylo in order to leverage that action ability. As for trading off, you would just use the action when you could actually get the damage in, you wouldn't just run it straight into an enemy unit seeing as it would be face up, use it when you can get value or dont and just get the damage in which is pretty win-win.

The one thing he does have over IG that hasn't gotten brought up yet is the Force keyword, which opens him up to stuff like lightning/choke and actually benefiting from the text on Fallen Lightsaber, which isn't nothing. We've still only seen less than half the set, so time'll tell.
@@Tekkactus Kylo comes out a turn quicker than IG, his action ability is better and doesn't depend on board state, and his discard playstyle works really well with other cards including Aggression (and probably some that haven't been revealed yet) ..why would he not impress you?
@@Tekkactus you do realize that Kylo's ability pumps for the entire phase and not only the attack, right? That new 3 mana 3/4 ship that untaps when you collect a bounty. You can hit for 10 a turn with that alone. The cards are not even on the same league, your evaluation is so off that it's not even funny.
@@Tekkactus He has much more than just the force keyword over IG, including more damage on action, earlier deploy time, potential synergies with discarding (with one already being revealed) as well as not being reliant on flooding the board (although that's probably something you'd want to do anyways). Of course no one knows for sure yet, and I might be too high on him, but I do think you're shorting him a decent chunk.

wait was just thinking about dat kylo can be very good vs sabine like t1 benthic 2tubes plus deathstar stromtrooper them he gonna attack base (hope so) them precision fire on bentic for 4 to base them give raid 2 to stromtrooper suprise strike for 8 them keep fighting on stromtrooper kylo ability so plus 2 on trooper for another 7 on base HAHA kinda imposssible to make it but funny deal a total of 19 on t2 them next turn kylo and end the game ahahah
Just like in the sequels, Kylo Angry Teen is way overhyped and in reality kind of sucks. His “fighter” couldn’t fight its way out of a wet paper bag and dies to a wet fart. No thanks in the sequels and no thanks now. Give us some better cards, FFG.
