    Dude I work in audio-visual , have electrical engineering degree, and have listed to many different type of headphones. I have a pair of the Shure Aonic 50 . I don't know what you heard ,but they're one of the best pair of headphones I've ever listened. And that's including Sennheiser. Something seriously off with your review.

      Edgar definitely listen to the H9s before buying them, I didn’t, and hated the extremely sibilant sound signature, had to sell them within days. all B&Os are somewhat sibilant but the H9s were just horrible :(

    The Momentums already sound "fun" in their stock EQ as that already has a boosted bass level of +2db (as measured in the rtings review e.g.). Why you would want to raise their bass level even more is beyond me. Sure, there are bassheads out there that want even more than that but still... Personally, I think that when you turn up the bass even more, they don't retain their soundstage and instrument separation, which makes sense when you think about it. I like these reviews here but they are very often quite "bass centric" reviews and it often sounds like a bass that doesn't physically rattle your head is not a good bass - which, again, might be true for a certain target group but is not a good way to measure "quality" bass in any way.
    I listened to both the PX7 and the Momentums and ultimately kept the Momentums, as they personally just sound better to my ears. I haven't heard the Aonic 50 but would actually really like to when I get the chance as I have heard really good things about their sound performance. They seem to be fairly neutral and revealing sounding which can be a really good thing indeed. It makes sense why their sound performance is slagged off a bit here ;)

      One correction, for the headphones to have "fun" EQ or a fun sound signature it has to be V-shaped meaning not only does headphone X boost bass but also treble.

    Most of the reviews i've read say the Shure Aonic 50's are among the best. I think they're geared more toward recording artists so that's probably why they sound flat to you. Because that's what real monitor speakers in a recording studio sound like as well. Not bad but accurate. If you make a mistake on the instrument you will hear it.

  • @ihavenospacebar231

    Have you considered that your pair of Shures is faulty? Soundguys says they have the best sound quality in this category and I would argue their testing is far more thorough. No reviewers besides you have claimed their bass bottoms out.

  • @SaulsieBerries
    @SaulsieBerries Před 2 lety +5

    Definitely a basshead's review. These days, courtesy of the Aonic 40's - you now have a daily commuter option if your preference is adjustable ANC, travel convenience, etc. Aonic 50's (with aftermarket suede cups) hold a permanent spot in my bag until they're dethroned.
    Caveats - I could give a toss about true ANC quality. A bit of a reduction is plenty for me. Can't stand cabin pressure, and can't stand in-ear buds. But I also need a decent mic and multi-device. I prefer a flatter sound, too. Favorite Sennheiser's are the 560s, for reference.

      @@anastasiosvlachopoulos578 Long answer. The reviewer doesn't know what he is talking about or is massively biased against non-bass-driven headphones and after hearing his description of the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 in this video, that is where my money would go.
      Also, it isn't just CZcamsrs who have said the sound quality of the Aonic 50's is good. Members of the Head-fi community have also been complimentary.
      The Aonic 50 isn't perfect sounding (few headphones are). They could do with a little bass boost at times (when you turn on ANC it does help, as well as when you listen wired) but generally, they are considered to be one of the better options available, particularly now that Shure lowered the price.

    I bought the Aconic's and I liked them enough to operate, the ear pads got very uncomfortable within a short amount of time. I had a pair of sheepskin pads( angled) and once I got the originals off, I knew to use the ring that the old pads was glued to, it was do or die. The operation was a success, I listened for hours their is a little more bass, but not enough to feel any regret. The choice of course is yours, I'm cool with mine.

    Comparing them to my KZs i think this is a scam. My KZ sounds way better balanced, crispy and best instrument separation no colouration whatsoever. Yet the Momentums for £350 they sound dull dark and the tremble is dead i mean you can barely hear it, Like what the hell man. Honestly its a let down for me and I'm annoyed.

    When talking about the dual-device pairing, could you also mention whether this feature can be disabled? For example, paired to computer (desk) and phone (pocket). You decide to walk around the house doing chores and remain connected to phone (pocket) but constantly connect/disconnect to computer (desk) when you approach/walk-away-from it. Bose QC35 offers little control over this dual-pairing.

    • @marsenark
      @marsenark Před 3 lety +1

      Bit late but in case it helps anyone else with same question, I know that on the Sennheiser M3s, you can't turn the feature off (like in Sony XM4) but you can control which devices are connected/disconnected so if you wanted to be connected to just one device, you could do this, via the app.
      (You also have the option to turn off voice prompts so you wouldn't have to keep hearing 'phone 1 connected', 'phone 1 disconnected' etc which may appeal as an alternative to some.)

    Okay. So not the Shures. I already have the PX, PX7, and Mom3 for trial. PX have blown me away, PX7 are disappointing, as PX have much better detail, far wider sound stage, and much cleaner bass. But the Mom3's are really good, sound wise! Their bass rattles my head, but not in a muddied way as the 1000XM4's have a small tendency to, and very importantly the rest of the sound scape still plays fully under the hefty bass. I am very impressed with the Mom3's and will keep them together with my former champions the PX, who's noise reduction is actually almost on par with the 1000XM4's because of their passive filtering. Not big head approved, though, the PX.-)
    ThanQ for many good reviews!

    • @dylanwhisnant6772
      @dylanwhisnant6772 Před 4 lety

      I didn't like the PX7 for the clear sub-mid bass boost and slight upper frequency boost that really and significantly recessed the mid-range and caused the vocals to be drowned out. My PXs are my favorite ANC headphones as for me no other headphone is matching them for sound quality or build quality/looks. The M3s I had had far too much bass for me. I'm not a bass head and it just made the vocals not that great on the M3s.
