12:50 Quick clarification: the fans did not boo when Fast missed that net.
If you listen closely, you can hear them chanting "We want Svech!" because Svech had two goals and needed one more for the hatty. A shift later, Svech came onto the ice and everyone cheered, but Berube for whatever reason put Binnington back in net. *That's* when the boo's happened.
Correct. I was there, we were booing Berube.
I watched that game and I knew Fast's "Joe Pavelski" would end up here.
Thanks for this clarification and thanks to everyone who has upvoted it. We don’t boo our own in North Carolina.
@@johnpenn8444 Except for the Arizona game, but it sparked our massive winning tear
I’m sticking with Fast did it on purpose to give the fans what they wanted: Svech an opportunity to get the hatty
How are goalie fights not good for the game? That broadcaster is on something else. lol Great video Steve!
Especially in a game between not only divisional rivals, but teams who are also from the same province/state? Also, John Gibson doing his best Mike Smith impersonation at the red line trying to bait Copley into coming at him should be an honourable hat pick.
I think the NHL has tried to stop them entirely after Pittsburgh goalie Brett Johnson pretty much ended the career of Islanders' goalie Rick DiPietro with a straight left in 2001. DiPietro played in just 16 games after that with a GAA of .879 ...
@@matthewdigiacomo2580That's not GAA that's save percentage btw
@@samukungfu2952 Ooops ... LOL. I was going to put both in and apparently confused myself when I decided not to. By the way, I think his GAA was in the 3.6 range, i think.
Jeremy Lauzon put the puck in his own net twice during the Bruins Nashville game. How did they miss that?
Equaled his goal total for when he actually played for the Bruins! 🤣🤣🤣
@@bones343 throw him some slack, he played less than 20 games
red bull, porn... balls dangling from the back of a dodge pickup hitch...
@@danthemans ok
Glad Nashville didn't end up on there being up two goals to Vancouver with 1 minute remaining... Had to win in a shootout.
Could have joined the sharks this year with that embarrassment
To be fair the Kings goalie got whacked by a No-Look Head-shot from the Ducks that looked VERY intentional. He deserved to throw that blocker.
I think the dang-it here is not that, but the fact that we didn't get a goalie fight.
That response from the Kings was absolutely savage 🔥🔥🔥
This might be the funniest dang-its yet. That Oilers fan had me rolling
Steve calling Copley “bumped” is a dang it. If that was a leafs goalie Steve would be screaming for blood.
Facts
Thats a "Falcon punch" cause thats what Steve called Sergerchev's punch a few weeks ago.
I saw that punch and was cheering when Copley started throwing punches back. You can't get away with a cheap shot like that. Steve got that entirely wrong.
Yea... Was wondering what he was watching. Also wondering what game the ducks social media person was watching. Copley absolutely wanted that fight. Just couldn't get through the linesman
I agree with the comments above I think there is still a dang it though. Let the goalies fight! I think that's Steve's main point.
7:05 Copley didn't get bumped. He got punched in the face as he was standing there watching a couple other people scuffle.
Jesper Fast missing that was kinda funny. The crowd was actively chanting “we want Svech” because he had 2 goals and an empty net…so I choose to believe he missed so Svech had a chance for the hat trick. But yeah that was a dang it, and if there was a segment called “WTF just happened” it should be on there too
We definitely didn't boo him though, but we did boo Berube for putting Binnington back in net
Oh man I saw that Tanev goal live and instantly knew it would be on here. It hurts to be a flames fan right now.
As soon as I saw that happen I texted a few friends saying Flames in dang its tomorrow 🤣
It hurts to be a Penguins fan rn, too. lol
Lol the game tonight didn’t help that I’m sure
@@jimb.7523 You have like 8 rings in the 21st century alone. There will be no sympathy forthcoming.
Can you imagine what’d be like if ovi’s record breaking goal is like the gourde own goal
Nah, it's not gonna be an own goal. It'll be an empty netter... But not an own goal...
Ovi doesn't take faceoffs, so not likely.
😂😂😂
Really surprised you didn’t capture the Boston Bruins Anthem mess up. 😅
Leafs fans don't mock Boston for fear of meeting them in the playoffs again
I laughed at the Gourde goal so much my roommates thought I was hurt lol
Thank you for letting the Sabres off easy, that first period against the Leafs was a major dang it.
Yep and the leafs letting them battle back and score 3 was another one.
I really thought that that was gonna be on here, especially as ROR is now the second former Sabre this season to put up a hat trick against Buffalo. Also that game may have been the absolute low point of the season for the Sabres this year. At the very least I haven't been more pissed off at a Sabres game this season than I was Tuesday night.
Missed a golden opportunity to call it an Anders Tee shot
How does Tyler Myers looking like a deer on ice and the play ending in a Canucks GA not qualify as a dang it?
I was just about to say
Because it's the Canucks and Myers, we expect it lol
Steve's gonna do a Myers montage? I mean the dudes given him enough content for a months worth.
Goalie fights are crazy cool when they engage
Goalie fights are 100% good for the NHL.
could you imagine vassy being done for the season because of a pointless fight?
Agreed because they rarely even have the chance to happen. And if it’s binnington involved we can all come together and love it lol
I love how hard Connor McDavid skated on the back check in that Ranger game. 😂😂😂😂😂
For the Blues we have been calling those a Parayk-away all season.
😂😂
Oh no, Marc Bergevin throwing the puck into his own net is the worst one.
that chicago goal from Kane was good according to the broadcast... if you go frame by frame, the puck is in the net at 0.1 seconds left on the clock.. NHL just robbed us all...
There was probably a discrepancy between the official clock on the ice and the broadcast. At first I thought it was good as well.
@@SirStanleytheStumbler that’s a brutal technical issue…. Like at a time when most of the fan base HATES the situation room, and often the refs as well, they need to sync up the clocks to leave no doubt that they’re making the right call and not playing favorites…
How hard is it to sync all the clocks to one master time. Like that one game earlier this year where the clock went out of sync by half a minute or something… just awful
As a Pens fan, I have found recently that I have been screaming "If you're a goal tender, TEND THE GOAL" a lot
Goaltender fights are awesome, I miss some of the craziness from years past.
I was watching the kings game and the ducks were already going at it with Copley he got slashed and interfered with going to the bench on a delayed penalty
The biggest dang it is that after the Patrick Kane dang it, Steve didn't mention how a very similar thing happened to the Blackhawks' opponent in the very next game
Us Isles fan were wondering if Lee's shot would be a Hat Pick or a Dang It. I'm glad it found a home here!
What I love about the gourde own goal. Both of him and jones at one point were sharks property.
I love Gibson's initial stick smash on the ice before the fight taunting Phoenix like it was a form of challenge or callout to fight him at center ice
This was one of the most fantastic editions of Dang-Its to date!
As a Leafs fan, I have never seen a team blow a 4-1 as poorly as the Oilers did!
I think, given recent history, the Rangers' takeaway should be, "Don't go into the third period against the Oilers with a lead."
@Stevedangle - Thank you for the Kane mention! and the partial dang it to McDavid counts as a McDavid clip :)
Being an Oilers fan, I love when anyone references the Stefan flub
Steve went full Charlie Kelly on that first "Advil"
i love in the canes' dang it Staal just bullying the poor attacker who fanned on the shot
Closest we got to a full goalie fight before that Kings vs Ducks game was in the AHL, and it was a post-game scuffle between Jack LaFontaine and Malcolm Subban on January 7th.
Goalie fights are the bomb!
The canucks organization is a dangit
I think the ref deserves to get the credit for that own goal
I also didn’t know about the blocker thing. I took a couple of those to the bucket in my day
Jarry somehow committed an even worse "if you're a goaltender, tend the goal" today. Can't wait to see him back here next week
12:32
My story is Fast missed on purpose. The fans wanted Svechnikov to get the open netter to complete his hat trick. He missed so Svech could get a shift to try. He did come on the ice, but the Blues put their goalie back in.
You are the only reason I watch this channel. God bless, you amazing individual.
Oilers Fan Gunk is hurt by the end of this episode.
It's been a rough couple weeks lol.
Y’know the Gourde own goal was on a returning Reimer shutout night, Sharks haven’t had a lot to celebrate in SAP, but this was a night that they needed to buck up, and with Marleau’s jersey retirement just around the corner, I want to see a Sharks team that can show some improvement
The oilers commentary at the last minute of the oilers blue jackets game should be in hat picks, made me have a glimmer of hope edmonton would win 🙏
I remember Copley being a bit of a hothead when he was with the Hershey Bears. (He never really was able to crack the Caps lineup much.) And Gibson seemed really disappointed the ref told him to go back to his crease. I think he was spoiling for a fight as well.
The trainer watched Oreilly using the wrong water bottle and didn’t say anything! 6:03
When I first came across Mr Dangle, I thought the pictures and figurines were just randomly put up on the wall, and only just now did I notice the amount of organization…
Connor Garland scored a goal at the end of the 1st period, having stripped the puck off a D man on the forecheck, he fired it at the goal, and time had expired by .1 seconds. Damn, I hate when that happens. I know you were going to say the Canucks, but I think at one point this season they had the most blown multi-goal leads, and maybe they were top in multi-goal comebacks as well lol
I once watched Chris Phillips score the Stanley Cup winning goal. He never won a Stanley Cup.
That’s probably the worst.
Lol I absolutely love the irony of the announcer saying "everyone loves a goalie fight" and "it's not good for the game" in the same breath. Like, this would be an awesome thing that the crowd and audience would love and would generate a lot of attention for hockey, but we cant have that because its bad for the game? Get lost scrubs, let them fight
I legitimately keep doing a double-take at the Advil at the store. If it wasn't that I use a proven painkiller for my migraines, I might be buying Advil because of Steve.
Also "Goalie fights are bad for the game" is... just no. I remember Roy. I remember the fact that Shanahan saved McCarty's neck that night all those years ago because Roy was about to go full Punch-up in Piestany on McCarty, and then, after that, Vernon getting into it.
dude....the Silfverberg own goal earlier in the season was also up there as one of the worst I've ever seen lol
You guys should do a version of this video without the guy in the green shirt.
As a Flyers fan.... it's nice to see the other PA team getting it's due in "you suck" videos.
I can't find a clip of the play. But Sunday, 2/19, Jets at Devils. Jets player had a shot at a wide open side of the net and his stick breaks on the shot, sending it wide. I'm a Devils fan, so it worked in our favor. But it's still a dang it for them.
Logan Couture is not the first player to receive credit for scoring a goal by losing a faceoff.
November 20, 1982 - .Van @ Edm. Canucks are leading 3-2, but have a faceoff in their zone with ten or eleven seconds left in the third period. Vancouver wins the draw cleanly, the puck going to defenceman Lars Lindgren along the boards. Lindgren picks the corner on his own goalie when his attempt to rim the puck around the boards goes spectacularly amiss.
Probably the easiest goal Mark Messier ever 'scored'.
Game ended 3-3. Not terribly surprising, the goal happened with nine seconds left, and there was no regular season OT at the time. (It would start the next season.)
At the start of the season I was defending Jack Campbell to the hilt, saying that he would bounce back, and that his poor play at the end of last season was from his injury and recovery from it.
At this point, I realize how wrong I was. I hope he finds his confidence, because at this point I can understand why Toronto decided to let him go. I was furious at the time, but now I am grateful.
But at the same time, as an minor Oilers fan as well as a major Leafs fan, I'm pretty peeved at Holland. I wonder if McDavid will stick around at the end of the season.
You can't blame jack for either of those losses. A 2 on 1 goal, left a man in front wide open for a shot, took 2 penalties and then screened their own goalie and could not capitalize in the shootout. That game was 100% not Jack. Against the avalanche, back door was left wide open for a shot which jack almost saved. The only one of those goals which might be a little bad is the one tipped five hole. The avs game could have gone better but the game vs the rangers was 100% the team leaving him out to dry
Steve Smith> Yay, not before my time! Also the Gourde goal? I swear I've seen almost that exact thing happen before, but I can't remember when. I'm pretty sure it was long ago though
Production value is real on this one
"Then I looked. Tristan Jarry has a .920. That means he is a good goalie.... That means STAY IN THE NET!"
Burst out laughing from that segment. 🤣 Good goalies should have their fun handling the puck. Just keep it to the 1st half of the season. 😛
15:30
I thought he was referring to Vancouver, then I realized they can't get leads and figured it was Toronto
Hey steve the bigger dang it tbh is the We Want Svech chants because he had 2 goals. I was dying in the arena cause it was so funny only for BENNY to get back in net to spite him 🤣
Steve, what's the statute of limitations on blaming the goaltender for leaving the net? Some of the times you show these types of goals (Tristan Jarry in this video), it looks like there's ample time for the goalie to get back and get into set position to block the scoring shot.
Kudos for showing the aborted goalie fight. The two most exciting words in hockey are not penalty shot, but goalie fight! Which brings me to RIP Ray Emery, who would give Patrick Roy a run for the title of most pugilistic goalie in hockey history! Saw a lot of Emery in the AHL!
im curious how clause girouxs sticks deciding not to be sticks doesn't come up
Someone responded back to the photo of Gibson with an image of Copley being held back. The caption read: Copley was the smoke.
I liked that one. 😉
2:05 Didn't realize the Penguins were already thinking of going to Bluff Point for 18 holes. The crease is the new sand trap.
I think the worst own goal I've seen was Jiri Hudler attempting a drop pass on a delayed penalty and the puck going into his own net.
Ottawa at Boston and the singer started singing the wrong anthem. It was hilarious.
9:30 Ray Emery’s (rip) assault was the last fight I remember. What was that 2017, we need more goalie fights
*I wish Edmonton would've blown their 4-1 lead against the Penguins tonight, but nope! Because it's the Penguins and they ended it 7-2.* 🤦♂
You missed Jonathan Becher (CEO of Sharks Sports & Entertainment) trolling Sharks fans today at the preamble to Marleau's jersey retirement (at city hall the Mayor was announcing that February 25th would be Patrick Marleau Day, had a Q&A with Patty, etc). Becher got up to the mic stand and said, "I was gonna mess with you guys and say I'm here to announce a trade. Focus on Patrick today, that would just be too much."
4:20 not the first time the own goal off the faceoff has happened- just last season Vegas scored an own goal against the Canucks
(Plus the worst own goal of the season definitely belongs to either Columbus or Calgary)
"Just allow it, on the grounds that its cool" - every hockey fans internal monologue
I played goalie for my public school and my teammate scored on me off the face off. He won it so clean and directly on net. didnt expect it.
Carey Price vs Tim Thomas is the last goalie fight I can remember besides the Smith Talbot fight
Steve's voice makes me want an advil
"That's because I grew up watching Ed Belfour" I would have said Ron Hextall. Same difference.
Tristan Jarry leaving his net leading to a goal against at home vs the Islanders...where have I seen this before?
As a Pens fan, can I please get a Advil sponsorship?
I swear Jarry wants to play for the Islanders based on his track record against them, he’d be a top scorer
Dan Boyle's own goal in the playoffs vs Avs was a worse one for me. God that was deflating
As a Penguins fan, I now understand how Devils fans felt last season. I mean, the Pens have a stellar team but what in the world is happening???
8:19 final boss
you know how in football QBs have little speakers and microphones to talk to their playcallers on the field? I think goalies should have those but they go to the other goaltender that way they can trash talk one another and when either get mad, there is precedent for goalie fights.
Surprised the too-late buzzer-beater from Dallas/Chicago wasn't included. Thinking you've tied the game at the horn, only for it to be ruled too late, that has to be a Dang-It.
When you watch the overhead goalie slow motion cam for the both there is a real difference between the two timing wise. There is a good half a second on the dallas goal meaning the shot hadn't left the stick before he end of the game, while with the kane goal the puck is literally between the goalie and the net when time expired. There is an angle where you would swear there was .1 sec left on the clock.
In many ways Dallas should thank edmonton because they blew a 3 goal lead and probably deserved the dang it.
How are the Ducks going to tweet when Copley was literally the one being held back by the refs while Gibson stood there? 😂
"It's amazing Tanev didn't react the way that I always do in video games when that happens. Which is get trapped into an animation where I swing my stick directly into my goalie's head."
Somewhere, the hair on the back of Tomas Vokoun's neck just stood up
Thumbs up for the Steve Smith reference #neverforget
for next week we need a refs - specifically the situation room in Toronto - dangit inclusion.
In the last 5 games for Detroit, there have been three of virtually the SAME cross check to the neck play - twice on the receiving end (Larkin at CGY, Samuelsson vs NYR) and once on the giving end (Larkin at WSH). Those 3 plays were adjudicated as follows:
at CGY - No penalty, no review
at WSH - Minor penalty reviewed and ruled a major penalty w/game misconduct
vs. NYR - Minor penalty assessed, reviewed and confirmed.
The SAME PLAY. Three DIFFERENT penalties.
Say it with me, that's a dangit.
They should actually just credit the official with the goal 😂
Wow surprised Tommy Novaks second goal didn't get in here
Kinda surprised that you didn't pair Patrick Kane's buzzer beater that got brought back with Tyler Seguin's buzzer beater that got brought back. Against the Blackhawks. On the very next night. Just ooof.
what are your thoughts on the NHL having a buzzer better rule like in the NBA
Jesper Fast’s inexplicable fumble in front of an open net: Steve sez: “that’s a dang it”; Cane’s GM sez: “memo to self: that’s a trade.”
My favorite part of the goalie "fight" is one of the commentators saying "it's not good for the game" dinosaur comment
they said "HE SCORES" when he still had the puck on his stick
