MSFS Freeware Aircraft - Boeing C-17 Globemaster - First Look!

- We're taking another look at some freeware from across the Microsoft Flight Simulator community today - and one which is always great to see fly in real life too! The Boeing C-17 Globemaster.
It's being created by Delta Simulations and this release I'm checking out in this video is their latest version of the aircraft addon to make it on to flightsim.to
We'll depart Coningsby in this work-in-progress freeware aircraft for a quick flight around East England completing it with a landing.

The external model is superb, but I think I'll wait until more of the systems are available before taking this puppy for a spin. Great work this far though, so I hope Delta Simulations persevere with it.
Absolutely - good potential but like you say, they need to stick with it and develop it further
As a paratrooper i love the c17, it feels like a rocket ship when your in the back.
As a C-17 IP, this was fun to watch.
Looks like much better progress than when I tried it a year ago. Can't wait to see when it's more complete in the systems department.

Nice looking aircraft. A really goo start. I look forward to a more polished version but very impressive so far.
as long as they continue to upgrade and improve it, it'll be good in the end!
I've really enjoyed flying it. Fairly easy to fly and great to look at. I wish there was a way to carry cargo or have a way to do a "jump mission."
would be cool to see some more mission-worthy items but I'd like the screens and flight systems to work nicely first

Flew it around for a little while . Has a long way to go but it will fill the niche until we get a good payware model whenever they happens.

Default key bind for barometric pressure(QNH) is the 'B' key. I know this isn't a knob in the cockpit, but gives you a way to set it to the current altimeter setting automaically.

If you go straight to start the aircraft works perfectly, also the panels
What do mean by "straight to start"? Spawn on runway? I never do that
@@BritishAvgeek yeah spawn to start. The sim is great but there's still some issues.
Latest update is really good. Not perfect but a big improvement.
Nice plane but its way to loud, its hard to hear the ATC. i hope they fix that and other things to would be great. Great Video.
absolutely top quality if we speaking of freeware add on, i think this add on have better quality rather than the bredok 737

Ah I don't know if any keybinds as I rarely use them 🤣 I'd rather the display works tbh
My opinion, The C-17 is the best cargo air force aircraft that has grazed the RAF (dont get offended its just my opinion)
its the perfect and smooth external look that gets me

Exterior model is amazing, I think retractable spoilers during landing is still missing but I assume will be implemented?
I think it's great that people are taking the reigns and making popular military aircraft for MSFS 2020. I haven't been on one of these planes in over 20 years, and to see a version that has a cockpit that isn't the 747 cockpit is great. For whatever reason after I downloaded it I'm having engine issues and it constantly wants to steer right. I can't get the engines to work with my X-56 throttle the number 4 engine is always reversed.
I'd have to take another look - not sure if the recent sim update caused any problems (though it shouldn't have). Could be a control setting issue perhaps?
@@BritishAvgeek It happened before sim update 8. I also spent about 45 minutes editing the throttle bindings to my HOTAS and checking for conflicts. Because the x-56 has a split throttle you can assign 2 engines say port and the other 2 starboard. So I have no idea what caused it. I just deleted it from my community folder after that.
Needs a bit more refinement but is good Freeware. Better than some payware.
indeed - lots of work building a custom C17 of course and most is classified so I guess they need some creative license to think how it would act

Is there a FPS drop when moving from external view to cockpit view? Otherwise, this is one of the best freeware for msfs
I haven't noticed any though I keep it capped at a max of 35fps so I have wiggle room :)

Theres a c130 mod on dcs which is quite good. Can load up with hummvee’s and such. Or blast around in full gunship mode.
You may have seen the CaptainSim C130 release but if you haven't - please DO NOT buy it. It's an exterior-only half baked c130 that can only be described as a cash grab

Altimeter is set in the Mission Computer via the MCDs on the TOLD pages. Are the mission computer's working?
How do you open the cargo door?
I like that escort with a couple of euro fighter jets needs black smoke pouring out its back side smell the jet fuel
I like this plane but my frame rates take a dump in cockpit view with this one.
Same flown on the c17 4 times over the Indian ocean to Diego garcia

It has but it's only recently had a total model upgrade for the exterior. It's not any official add-on though

Nope not quite - flown in a C17 before though for a little bit - awesome aircraft

Can you share mouse setting? My mouse only stays basically in the center. It will not go past the yokes before centering. Guess I am looking for mouse control for dummies. Any suggestions on where to find instructions to download 3rd party content. My install of msfs does not cooperate. Thanx
I set freelook to press and hold on right mouse click. Regarding downloading add-ons, you have to extract them and put the base folder into the community folder (or elsewhere via an add-on linker)

Does it land like a real C-17, needing power well on the backside of the lift/power curve?
Sadly no it's quite sporty in all scenarios
My Navigation Display is blank with only the circle and squares.
I'm not sure what to suggest - it might be worth heading to the download page for it on flightsim.to and putting questions in the comments to try get help from the developer
@@BritishAvgeek thanks. Even on yours I don't see the navigation course. I was able to complete a flight though with the autopilot and nav map.

Sadly no I don't think it is
I don't know which base aircraft they used but it seems extremely sensitive in pitch (most are far too sensitive in yaw). Really spoils flight characteristics.

Is this model going to be updated in the coming future? It’ll be a shame if it’ll be left in the current state.
I don't think the exterior will be updated, not too sure about the interior if I'm honest either!

Great plane ! But I'm having elevator issues with joystick ?
In what way? I found it very twitchy
@@BritishAvgeek No lift when trying to take off. Everything else works fine just no lift from elevators.
@@Ballerfella2007 have you checked your controls to see if there are any elevator issues with your setup or perhaps use FSUIPC7 and find it's causing problems?

Ew no, why?! There’s already a decently functioning cockpit in there, it already seems great and better than certain payware too
I'd like to see the cockpit function a lot better though, it doesn't function too much at all currently

outside looks ok except for the super rusty slats and engine components but yeah, lots of room for improvement!
