40 Years - The Greatest Hits out now @ lnk.to/SpandauBallet-GH40
Spandau Ballet are one of Britain’s great iconic bands having sold over 25 million records, scored numerous multi-platinum albums and amassed 23 hit singles across the globe since their humble beginnings as a group of friends with dreams of stardom in the late 1970s. It wasn’t long before they became fully-fledged members of the iconic Blitz Club scene and established themselves as one of the super-groups of the 80s.
The band's classic line-up features brothers Gary and Martin Kemp on guitars, vocalist Tony Hadley, saxophonist Steve Norman and drummer John Keeble.
Spandau Ballet’s hits include Gold, True, To Cut A Long Story Short, Through The Barricades and many more.

Lyrics:
Communication always leaves me incomplete
The grass is greener, but it's grown beneath my feet
Love inspiration is a message on a wing
But I have left it in the words you'll never sing
Communication let me down
And I'm left here
Communication let me down
And I'm left here, I'm left here again
Telex or tell me, but it's always second-hand
I'm incognito but no rendezvous's been planned
Dictate or relay, I could send it to your home
"Return to Sender", I could sing it down the phone
Communication let me down
But I'm left here
Communication let me down
But I'm left here, I'm left here, I, I, I
Dictate
Relay
Dictate
Relay
I'm sitting here, waiting by the telephone
Waiting for the bell to ring
Short change, fumble
Dial-a-heart trouble
And I ain't got time for searching through the rubble, oh no
Well, I know-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Communication let me down
And I'm left here
Communication let me down
And I'm left here, I'm left here, I, I, I

My first ever album. No regrets
Tony Hadley,s voice was brilliant every song . 🙂
Wonderful song ❣️
Exellent voice of Tony Hadley ❤🎉🎉
Fantastic smooth voice - loved Tony Hadley :-) So different from many other bands of the era ❤❤❤
Saw Tony last night he was talking about how tough it was to have Leslie Ash put her hand in his shirt for this video! Was a quite superb performance by one of the great and sadly underrated frontmen.
My favorite band
UNIQUE. The best from Spandau Ballet. My favourite part starts at 3:41.
One of my favorite SB songs! Awesome sound!
Estos videos ochenteros son lo más!!😉👏👏💃💃🕺🕺💃
Tony always had this classic heartthrob-leading man-boy next door looks He could give a run for matinee idols in his heyday
You nailed it. ❤
He's a mesmerizing dude 😍
Agree.❤
Awesome! 🎶👍
Love this track since it was released. The 80s moved so fast but I'm still lucky to.have lived through it.
Me too buddy
An amazing voice and a great song!!!!
One of their best hits.
What memories this brings back 😅
This song is incredibly underrated it's my very favorite Spandau Ballet.
Oh Toney 😍😍😍 such a beautiful man 🥰🥰🥰
I love this song! It's so catchy and addictive!
Splendid singer - best birth year just like me
Communication…Radiocommunication !!! Thank you MARCONI !!!🇪🇸🇺🇸💙❤️❤️💙
Wonderful
Love this song 👍
Fun fact, Spandau Ballet had five successive hits with one word titles: Instinction, Lifeline, this, True and Gold.
I learn from the internet that their next single after Gold was Pleasure, but it was only released in Europe, and it wasn't a hit. Obviously they needed more words.
What about musclebound
The instinction of this lifeline is true gold
How about "Only When You Leave"?
"To Cut A Long Story"? " Through The Barricades"?
@@Elusive_Theorist erm, more than one word 🤔😊
Leslie ash is great in this video ❤
All the guys were jealous of Mr Tony Hadley back then, my girlfriend adored him!🤯
possible levels of communication bordering on insanity for about 20 years mental illness does it dissipate how could you
Badass song. Long live the 80's.
Greetings from Dominican Republic.
Ricordi memorabili!!! Grazie Lucy 😅😅😅😅😅❤❤❤
Awesome!!! Love the capris
Excelente canción, muy buena música, Spandau Ballet es una de las mejores bandas, muchas felicitaciones y a disfrutarlo, en especial un saludo a la gente de Jutiapa, Guatemala.
Leslie Ash! Met her when I was in Britain. She actually liked my accent. I loved hers.
LOVE SPANDAU BALLET
Why are you shouting?
He wants a whole grand up front! Whoa! He must be the best!
I learned the songs from a record borrowed from my library, I would play it over and over and magically remember the songs! One of my favorites!!! Spandau fan forever!!
Smashing the Capri up. If only they knew how much that model fetches now.
I used to listen to this band on cassette while fishing Montana Creek for Chinook in AK! Great times yo!
Great song! One of many by this group.
Rare historical footage of the Woolwich Ferry actually operating two ferries
Ahhh! Tony Hadley! I can't take my eyes off him. He's my perfect guy.
Sarah Collins You're kidding! I mentioned to meeee1968 that I had a crush on him when I was a child. He's already married to another woman and they have a daughter born in 2006. She'll get jealous if you dated him behind her back.
Sarah Collins oh has someone got crush on him
Good looks, great voice, nice chap... you can't ask for more! Have a crash on him since 1986!
he could have been an actor, he had many qualities in this time of his life. when he was a young man...
Tony's simply gorgeous.
Great - Unique Band!
great band great songs
I have this on a New Wave compilation. I probably should've played it more. Here in America, All they play on the radio is "True".
Spandau ballet are awesome and tbh they only really play True and Gold here in the UK really 😧 it's a shame they have made loads of awesome songs
Great English band 👍👍👍
God I loved this band and their music..got this on 7"vinyl
Hi Bro, I have a vinyl 12" mix here. Have you listen to this mix?
@@aimoptical2294 wow...yes I have heard it...they were one of my fave bands back in the day!😊
I love this song! I remember this from when I was about 10, and I never knew it was Spandau Ballet until now!

Never realised Leslie Ash was in this video she was STUNNING. Always had Style these guys. That's why a lot of people didn't like them JEALOUSY
I was a little girl in the 80s and my dad worked on these big boats a lot I remember travelling a lot so this really brings me back to my childhood the smell of the sea and inside hes uniform hat
rebecca trafford Fish.
Glad to hear you got such lovely memories of your father. :)
@@hypolyxa7207 thank u he's still here just haven't seen him for years
@@rebeccatrafford2417 Aww sorry to hear that. If you are able to, you should rectify that. People can go from one day to the next, tried it myself, sadly.
Yesterday I heard this classic song on the radio. I hadn't heard it in many, many years. The wonder of You Tube.
Haven't heard this song in ages. Thanks.😊📻
Communication let me down.
Love this song!!!
can you imagine my mates and i roller skating and thinking we were so cool to this... it happened (i'm not too proud to admit) but hey at least we had the best fun ever in those days for sure....
I can imagine that, Haha
esta cancion y otras mas me recuerdan la etapa mas hermosa que vivi siendo muy joven...tambien perdi ala persona que ame con todo mi corazon pero nunca lo valere....
Questi erano Gli Spandau innovatori
Tony though
I like Spandau ballet new romantics too forever
Great tune....poor Capri.
The first time I had ever seen the 'Communication' video
was on a television program called MV3 1982-1984; televised in Los Angeles
w Richard Blade David Maples and Karen Scott
OMG I remember that show!
I remember those days.
I didn't really care for Richard Blade at the time because I was still accustomed to "Raymond and Evans" so "Raymond and the Blade" kinda' sounded odd.
Reminds me of the song, girls on film, by you know who. All good bands.
Oh, yes! 12/10/83 road to Zaragoza...We were in that concert!!!
Excellent!
Clasica canción de los 80's. The best
A wonderful voice
Crank up the decibels & get onboard - this puts u rite back there in 83! great tune.
For you car nuts, Tony is driving a european Ford Capri, a respectably sporty little car of the mid to late 70's. They were imported into the US for a few years too, though I haven't seen one on the road for at least 15 years.
A nice Mark I too
Moses Berkowitz I had a ‘77 Capri II in high school. V6 4speed. It was a fast little car for the times.
My first car was a scarlet 1973 one, albeit with a brown replacement bonnet we got from a breaker's yard and my dad fitted with me helping - in the spring of 1983 when this song was a hit. It did go fast for the times and handled corners and turns very well - but parking it in a tight space was always a bit tricky to gauge because it had so much bonnet (and boot).
I think it was fords European version of the Mustang
@@leewhitehead6460 no!
Did anyone spot John Conteh in this video? John who? Well, he was a former Light-Heavyweight boxing world champion and he also was on the famous album cover of Band On The Run by Paul McCartney & Wings.
Oh, well spotted
Q cancion mas buena pa bailar
Great song great ban.Simple.
Omg I was 10.... ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the Song.
wonderful
1981..what an era for alternative music..
This is from 1983 actually. One of their last good songs before the awful 'True'.
Spandau Ballet were alternative music?!
0:49 That has got to be the coolest camera I have ever seen
The co founder of KEOM 88.5 Fm. Mesquite Schools radio is Dr.James Griffin who had his PHD in communications. Dr.Griffin retired a few years ago.
I had the pleasure of meeting his daughter a student d.j. at Keom in 2012 at a live broadcast from the famous wrestler's "The Hammer's"parking lot. I met the hammer but I didn't know who he was LOL.
entered Billboard March 31, 1984 ..reached #59
saw this live.... its still great
Like most videos in 80s this was film so well it could have been a movie within itself. It's also good song.
Great music video Leslie Ash John conteh on the woolwich ferry Sweeney style car chase fantastic.
❤️❤️
I can't find it, but I seem to remember a version of this video that cut in performance shots of the band in a studio, standing on cars and such. Anyone else remember that?
I remember that one! The cars were all covered with newspaper. MTV showed both versions, seemingly at random.
On the same album that had "Gold" and their mega smash "True."
That's John Conteh as the heavy.
There is no shame in it, even I did it. We forgot how fuckung great this tune is. 😁❤❤❤❤❤❤
I like this song
Anyone seen Soul Boys of the Western World? Just remembered, still haven't hunted it out. Will do this weekend. What a song. Does Martin K actually play bass?
it's on prime, yes he does
I find myself singing the chorus when modern information and communication technology,er,lets me down.
Communication!
In the song's heyday, I secretly replaced the word "Communication" with "Urination" in my mind, and thought I was ever so naughty!
Nawty nawty
Who is still listening in 2019?
Great song this is, however who are the actors in this music video besides Spandau Ballet?? ✌️😙
0:43 Music starts here.
It would be nice if Spandau Ballet dedicated this song to Guglielmo Marconi who invented the radio a long time ago, because it was the first device to be used for communication purposes in the old days before music was added to it.
Fully agree 👍👏🏿👌
@@CarmelDeery I'm glad to hear that, LOL.
This song reminds me a remote summer, a swimming pool and a girl in a white swimsuit.
80s rule
This video looks like an episode of Begerac (And thats a good thing). I love this early mid 80s type stuff.
I was thinking more 'Triangle'
I love you 😍
tan guapo Tony
does Tony do his own stunt driving?
SniffyPoo That's a good question. I think that it's a stunt double who does the stunt driving. I dream about driving sometimes. He looks like Melanie from Phantom Manor if she got a gender switch.
Classy and muscular!
🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎉🎊🔊🍀💓👌
