- Video on how to install a tensioner, idler pulley and belt on a 1997 Chevrolet K1500 5.7 V8. These instructions pertain to many other models.
Tools:
Flex head 3/8 drive
Ratchet 3/8 drive
1/2" Socket deep or standard
3/8" Torque Wrench
Preferably a set of gloves.
Tensioner pulley is set at 27 FT LB
Idler Pully is set at 37 FT LB
Part numbers I used:
Tensioner: 88909593
Idler Pulley: 88909582
Belt: 88932794 or 6K960 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Remove the top of the fan shroud would make for easier access… and no cuts and scrapes like ones you suffered.
Beneath that mock pulley is a boss to put a grooved pulley to bypass the AC, or for those that do not have AC.. trying to find a video on that setup as I just bought that bracket to swap my older truck to serpentine and it did not come with the bolt or pulley there.. I found the grooved pulley just need to see if there is some special bolt or something behind pulley, etc.. I see images of using that boss, but no details or parts list.
Muy bien excelente video 👌
Is this a mirror image? The alternator is on the driver's side on a Chevy pu truck.
Shorter sockets will help ya out with limited space
One of my next buys! I'm looking into a bunch of new sockets. Any recommendations
Great video Sir. Thank you. I have a similar setup. I also have the Mock Pulley instead of an AC compressor. By any chance have you played with the possibilities of a smaller belt going directly to the Power steering ??
