- How to build a DIY Steel Fire Pit. I welded this fire pit together from ⅛” steel plate and ⅛” square tube. It was my first time welding a full metal project and cutting this much steel at once. I learned a lot about metalworking and came out with a sweet portable DIY fire pit. It’s perfect for taking to tailgate or just a backyard firepit that won’t take up a permanent spot. #firepit #metalworking #welding

Link to plans?? Measurements more specifically
Great Job! You made it look so easy!!
So did you put that metal cutting blade into a normal circular saw? not a metal cutting circular saw?
Exactly what I'm looking to build. Question: is there anything you can spray, coat, or imbue the metal with that would 1) protect it from the elements, and 2) still be food-safe (for searing steaks and such!)?
Thought you said you would have plans available for this?
Adding some carry handles when its “hot” would be a nice value add.
loved this one. Simple yet elegant....perfect for a tailgate or backyard BBQ.
thanks, Mike! If this isn't the definition of modustrial I don't know what is :)
@@Fixthisbuildthat It say it gets the Modustrial look spot on!
That is a project to pick as your first. I love building things with my everlast equipment. Nothing quite like building things out of steel.
This is so awesome!! Your welding projects are 🔥🔥
thanks, brother! I got some Maker Ranch vibes going on this one
I have recently started to have in interest in metal working and I really appreciate videos like this that show how the beginner can get started without needing a ton of fancy tools. Keep up the great work, and thank you for sharing.
It's a trapezoid... Thanks to the NHL for teaching me that :P
Dangit, I knew it!
Nice Job, build a workbench from 2" or 2 1/2" SQ x 3/16' wall Tube with 3/8 or 1/2" Top Plate 4' sq or 3' x 4' & bolt vise to it
I've been doing woodworking as a hobbyist for about 4 years now and have been thinking about incorporating metal. This was a great project to get me motivated! Thanks for the video!
Just started the Podcast, thanks for all the knowledge!
Great project! I respect you for being vulnerable and showing us where you went wrong or made mistakes.
thank you!
Brad that is a beautiful design! I need to check out those blades!!
Thanks, David! Definitely went for some mid century inspiration.
Love this! Great project to incorporate welding into the arsenal
That welder you used with an "entry-level price point" lol. It's obvious, at a grand, we have different definitions on "entry level". 😊
I was thinking the same thing
The Titanium 125 at harbor freight is a good entry level machine at $180-200.
My entry level is a amico 160 stick/ tig. $150 and so far so good. Burn 3/32 7018’s and 1/16 6013’s and 3/32 309’s. Rarely use 1/8 as I don’t typically work with over 1/4” steel
It’s a good investment if you know your going to get further into welding but I do agree that this is a high price for “entry level”

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just found my first "learn to weld by myself" project... !... Thanks
I LOVE those steel demon blades! I can't live without them now
they are the bomb!
Pretty cool. That turned out great. 👍🏽
Pretty cool. Now I know what i'm using some of the scrap metal at work for. I'd love to see you build an outdoor cooler or something.
This 🔥 pit is absolute 🔥. Nice job, my dude!
Thanks, Sam! 💪💪
This is a simple and elegant design !This will be my first welding project once I buy my welder! Thanks for sharing !
have fun with it!
Muy buen trabajo. 👍.. Saludos desde Argentina !!
I’ll have to give those blades a try. The fire pit looks 🔥🔥🔥
thanks, Chad! If you have a slow speed saw the 14" one is a MUST. So much better than an abrasive saw
That Diablo Blade is insane. Great Vid!
yeah, it's pretty sweet!
Really cool project! I might try this sometime! Thanks for sharing!
Used your design for the bowl of my firepit, but did a "remix" of the base. Thanks for a great video.
Great first metal work. Well done.x
This is such a great project! I love the portability!
What a super-hunk! 💪🏽
Nice simple project. I like it.
Love it!
I discovered the Diablo steel demon blades a year or two ago. They are *the* best steel cutting blades on the market.
This is GREAT!!
Awesome brad, you’re very creative and your work is excellent!
thank you!
this project is awsome you really inspired me.
Came out great! Simple and awesome. 🤗
thanks!
Thanks for sharing that, well done!
thanks, Hassan!
Love the way you work
En Fuego!
thanks, brother!
Just an awesome build as always. I'd love to see you build a bbq grill either from a 55 gal drum or similar steel sheets you used for the fire pit. I just enjoy watching your videos. I always learn something new. Cheers!
A new BBQ is a great idea!
Your Fire Pit Looks Awesome! 👍🏽
enjoyed that - nice video - thank you.
Awesome!!
GREAT IDEA
Congratulation my friend.
Loved this Brad!
thanks, Phillip!
I loved the firepit
very cool. Great video, too.
Well done dude, you have golden hands and will continue to make interesting videos
The portability of it is a nice touch!
thanks, Bruce! I could come up aces at tailgates!
Awesome work Brad! 😃👍🏻🔥👊🏻
thank you, Fred! 👍💪
Cool thing man!
Awesome job 😁
Cool. Very cool.
Nice job Friend! Thanks for sharing the video.👌👍😎JP
Nice job, I love
dope build...as always! great channel.
thanks, Douglas!
Nice. Build mate.
I really dig this. It's so simple in the cuts but the final piece has a nice modern complexity to it. I'm very very interested in making something like this and actually have the equipment but am hesitant to pull the trigger not knowing how it might stand up to the elements. I'd love if it you'd post an end of summer instagram update to show how it held up...maybe? Cheers brad.
If you finished it with a high temp paint it would probably hold up nicely
I've been watching you for awhile you do some good work on the welding I use a pencil from an art store it's a metallic silver
I like it. I do a lot of traveling for work and it’s good throw down grilled. I would add horse shoes as handles. I’ve built some before but lil bigger and heavy. That style is perfect no stack required Perfect for grilling. Awesome job brother
the legs act as a decent handle, but horseshoes would be a nice country flare
bravo!
Wow! I heard Bob talking about this on the Making It podcast. It came out great Brad! I really like the design.
Thanks!
Isso é um aquecedor?!
As with all your builds, Brad, great stuff!
thanks, Mark!
I can imagine (know everything except how to constructively teach) experienced welders will come along and hate on you, but as a novice I give you huge props for your brass. Some guys tend to forget that this is exactly how we all learn. Nicely done, and Thank you, Brad.
thanks, Alan. I always go in with a good dose of self deprecation to keep things honest :)
New subscriber here and I enjoyed watching this video, I like the idea and simple design of the fire pit, I used to make fire pits out of 1/4” steel, heavy yes but it lasted well over 5 years
Thanks for the sub 👍
Cool, well done. I lo e your style
thanks, James!
Nicely done Brad! 👌🏻 you nailed it! Pun intended!
😀
I like this, I don't onow if it would be possible, or if you will even see this, but could you give me the measurements for the finished project? The length of the finished leg peices, the lengths of each trapezoid, and so on? I would like to do this one as a project.
You should really try to use a bandsaw to cut metal. It works really well. But you also have to learn how to use it a little. It works like a charm
Great job! Thow
I use bulldog shears 💪💪👍 that's what real tinknockers do 👍👍💪💪😊
I'll take 2, thanks
مشاءالله عمل جميل جداً 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🌹🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦🌹🌹
Great work!
Should’ve done handles too tho
Nice metal project! Fire pits are expensive so this is a great DIY
Yeah, no doubt, Jesse. This is only like $50 in metal, if that.
Fix This Build That Perfect!
Nice design! Its good you showed us how not to cut and told us how you should cut. Thats a great tip
Yeah, no need to repeat my errors
@@Fixthisbuildthat I think that is the beauty on our community, we can learn from each other trough our videos. Well done man!
Great video. More of this, maybe a bbq side table...
thanks!
I build many fire pits and I do like yours for the simple design, one thing try not to use 1/4 inch round stock it will warp on you and will burn thru sooner than you think, use 3/8 round , 3/8 square or rebar for you fire grate , they will last much longer.
I love your vids
thank you!
AWESOME VID CAN YOU PLEASE DROP THE MEASUREMENTS AND DIMENSIONS FIR THIS PIT ❤
Nice. It looks like a great project. If you do let it rust, just be careful you don't stain any cement or wood.
thanks, and good call
I’ve never seen a circ saw cut steel. I’m impressed.
Pretty cool, huh!
Fix This Build That hell yea bro. Good sponsor congrats.
I'm a certified welder 👍 can't wait to blow out a couple of these bad Larys 👍💪😊
Could I get a cutting list please
Nice fireball
Aww, I thought we were going to get a wooden grate...
Well made!
hahaha, I made a prototype but made the mistake of testing it 😜
On 1/4" or less material it's ok to weld down hill. But definitely get some practice in.
Actually its a max of 1/8"downhill
Nice job. It needs a grill top for cooking though.
Rombus is a Diamond shape just for future reference.
To get some cleaner welds, do a little better prep grinding off the mill scale about an inch or 2 away from your weld. Will help the clean up process
Nice work as usual, vert stylish and modern looking fire pit. The way the legs are sort of an inverted shape of the bowl makes me wonder if it could be made in 2 pieces that nest somehow for storage. Not sure how but it would be cool. Also, the chop saw, was that a slow speed saw intended for a metal blade or a high speed saw intended for an abrasive wheel? I know April had tried that blade on a saw meant for abrasive wheels and had a problem. I have an abrasive saw that i would LOVE to swap to a metal blade.
That blade has to be used on a slow speed saw. 1800 RPM or less
Nice fire pit build a tool box next
Dang it!! Very impressive! Do a project without welding! Using screws nuts and bolts and a drill and an angle grinder. I sure could use some tips on joints. (Not weed). I realised with profiles u can make holes and put metal rods through. Or even wood. A bookshelf or shoestand maybe? Or why not a workbench or an A frame as a roof for a workshelter, portable maybe?
If you don't mind me asking, what were the measurements of the trapezoids and the big rectangle? Also how much of the square tubing was needed. Pls and thank you.
When welding the sides of the pit, does it matter if you weld on the inside or the outside? I’ve watched several videos and it is split down the middle - some weld on outside and some weld on inside. Does it matter or is it for looks?
I probably would subscribe if I got more measurements. Good video and ideas but we need more measurements.
Grab yourself a used (oil or fuel) drum say 20 gallon or 40 Gallon and turn them into either a fire pit or flip top BBQ. Maybe using scrap steel reo for legs etc. Great vid :-)
I'd like to make a BBQ, that would be fun!
Everybody makes a fire pit from a drum!! I like the sheet metal look with the angles myself
Viri ged
Really great video Chris! That metal looked like a *BEAST*
I don't know who Chris is, but thanks :)
🤣🤣
@@Fixthisbuildthat Sorry Brad! got your name mixed up with another DIY CZcamsr😂
no worries :)
It would be kinda cool cooking food knowing that the bbq I was using was built using my powerarc welder and my own two hands.
Planning on making this fire pit... Is there a list of material you used, and best recommended blades for seven and a half in skill and a four and a half inch angle I'll be using a yeswelder mig 205ds-b welder
