Win Server by default typically runs the CPUs less hard / more efficiently for multicore processes, thereby causing the single thread apps to open slower. That can be changed in the power settings.

2:05 it may also mean different thermal compounds under cpu, or paste applied on each ThinkPad with months in between, or different stages of dust accumulation, or the ThinkPad that is hotter(right) is to close to the ThinkPad on the left making it more difficult to evacuate heat efficiently, and the 91C limit on both could indicate a max thermal limit setting in bios before cpu throttling.

In case you were wondering, the main use for Windows Server is to function as an Active Directory (AD) domain controller. So in a company, user accounts are stored on a server rather than individual computers, which allows administrators to do things like reset passwords remotely, assign users to groups, and give them access to certain resources.
This also means users can log into the same account on another computer (though AD doesn't store the user's documents on the server...at least not by default).

    A few things to consider:
    1. These laptops come with a ton of drivers that have to be installed manually on 2019 and it is possible you have some divergence there.
    2. Windows 10 comes with memory compression and software prefetch which might not be enabled on 2019 by default
    3. The battery/performance profile settings seems different between the two, hence performance it is better to be benchmarked on desktops where these things might be set the same by default.
    4. Windows 10 disk space "rot" over time is much more serious than the one on 2019 which makes the latter alot better with disk space management...

Difference in temp can explain differences in boot up times. Differences in temp can be explained in just that one thinkpad is dirty or more used, or different thermal paste, also can be just the silicon lottery, but i bet it is ambient difference, like the wind moving from left to right , so , the second is sucking air heated from the first thinkpad, and so on.

One thing worth mentioning. Software license on windows server tends to be way more expensive than on windows 10 counterpart. From 3x or so to 10x or higher. Sometimes windows server will need a license that is called “site license” compared to “personal/home license”.
And tbh, windows have come a long way that even personal use of windows 10 is good and stable enough that windows server’s extra stability and whatnot is not that necessary for most home/professional users, unless you legit run server grade software/hardware (e.g. ecc memory)

It would have been better to compare it between Windows 10 and Windows 10 LTSC instead of Windows Server. If you ran the same tests on a server I'm sure Windows server would have demolished Windows 10.
What you tried is like trying to fire real bullets with a nerf gun.
It was still pretty interesting to watch.
It'll be very interesting to see what happens if you try Windows 10 vs LTSC.
LTSC is exactly like 10 but without and bloatware, cortana, microsoft store, windows update etc etc. I personally used both of them and Windows 10 LTSC was noticeably faster.

Windows server is designed to run Server Functions - Communications, Web Hosting, Domain Hosting Services, Production Services, Hosting CRM. There are also additonal functions that can be added such as image hosting services, domain and active directory hosting. I do know Programmers that use Server for Web Hosting and Functionality testing. Otherwise, there is not much reason to use Windows Server.

keep in mind that you are doing the wifi speed tests at the same time... considering its wifi i am 100 percent certain one is interfearing with the other. do one after the other for a proper speed test as wifi is a radio wave and having any 2 devices next to each other competing for radio bandwidth will effect performance.

You should also look at Server essentials edition which is only about $500, but limited to 2 CPU sockets but only a pathetic 64 GB or ram vs Windows 10 2TB, but it is much cheaper. Still I cannot believe the crazy 64 GB limit. I would like to know if server is ever worth it over 10 for a desktop style usage other than battery life. Also I would love to know what was disabled it server to cause that much better battery life. Thanks.

additionally, the reason for the battery life being so much better is because that's something server prioritises. But not for laptops. Server optimises for UPSs and Backup Generators to ensure as much uptime as possible, even if the power has gone out.

these tests are too specific to say the test for the battery of one laptop the battery may be more degraded than the other for temperatures the one laptop may be more dusty than the other the test for the speed of opening applications may the disks whether they are the same or not more or less degraded because as we know HDDs and SSDs degrade many more
