00:00 Did you know that in Factorio, you can use a city block design?
00:03 Building spaghetti is the most common design for beginners.
00:06 However if you play longer enough, you usually lean toward different designs.
00:10 Main bus is a great solution for early game and mid game
00:13 But it doesn’t work that good in the huge megabases.
00:17 When you design your using blocks, you will quickly realize how easy it is to expand.
00:22 If your base will be in need of any resource, you can just paste another block to fix it.
00:27 It’s crazy how easy it is to reuse already build stuff for the extra production.
00:31 This design is also very flexible, because if one block is too small
00:35 you can simply connect a few blocks together for the extra space.
00:39 When you are doing blueprint for a block, always set absolute snap to grid.
00:42 It will make placing new blocks from a map view way easier.
00:46 Just remember to design everything correctly
00:49 otherwise you will end up with…
This is a short Factorio tutorial or guide. You can find some useful tips for your Factorio speedrun and death world game. Advance topics like trains blueprints circuit network will be explained in a few seconds. I hope this series will work great as a trailer and review for Factorio. I will also try to keep it funny in a meme way.
#Factorio - Hry
Legends say that Trupen will finish the mini-film series when the slots on the train run out...
Or when he runs out of languages to curse in
There are more than seven thousand languages in the world, but only 31 slots.
Then he'll reveal his secret.
A second wagon!
@@ValthumArdes 7000 languages? WTF?! 😂 I know 3 of them! I think i should stop playing Factorio and start the real grind!
@@somal1anwarlord197 I don't know what you call real grind, but in my opinion it is described by four words: THE FACTORY MUST GROW
Honestly expected the end to be you realizing the snapping was one off compared to the rails, as they snap at 2x.
Some blueprints include one rail, just to prevent this.
I prefer 4D tesseract factory layouts myself.
you mean the factorissimo things?
Here we are, once again standing on the rails to infinity. And by rails, I mean rails, and by infinity I mean the speed of that train barreling towards me.
nice map
Thanks, I stole it from j_maty
wait a second!
I honestly like the spaghetti. Accidentally putting myself in a corner and finding a way to tangle my base up even more :)
Finally a curse word i can instantly recognize
I feel like I never leave the mid-game when I'm playing with all my mods and such. So I haven't given city blocks too much of a try. Especially with mods that add later tier power poles and roboports. Though, I really *should* since it would be nice to have a train network that was less spaghetti.
I can't imagine playing Bob's Angel's without the cityblock design, the interweaving of parts is just too much for my brain to spaghetti
having a playthrough with cityblocks helped me get a sense of scale. Nowadays whenever I build a base, I always have huge gaps because I know that I will need to expand later.
playing new mods with cityblocks, ltn and/or some kind of modular system is a GODSENT and makes everything easy
I’ve recently started to transition to a city block like layout in my SE save and I like it athsteticly it is just popping up around my original bus base tho
.... wait , did I heard 幹(gan) 你(ni) 娘(nyan) ? lol
That is Taiwanese kàn-lí-niâ, not China pinyin.
Props for becoming mr Worldwide one swear at a time
Also jokes on you, i have spaghetti bases with big input-output train stations in one place, so i can just forget how the factory works (adeptus-mechanicus-moment)
Actually how belts work? There must be some spirit to move them...
@@mishazerg Anything that does not require traditional energy to operate it is fueled instead by the unyielding desire the Factory itself has to grow. A notable exception for example are the gun turrets who are instead fueled by their hatred of the enemies of the Factory.
I advocate against city blocks. Here’s why:
1. I don’t like winning.
2. Hand-made designs are the best use of brain cells in the game
3. V453000
If you’re stuck small due to bottlenecks, you are less likely to experience game performance issues!
Hi Trupen,
Really like these short condenced mini-tutorials. Though it sounds like the audio for the videos could be turned up a bit? Not sure what your peak dB is on the final videos. When I come from a different video to yours, it's always noticeably quieter. Easily fixed by turning the volume up of course, but I sometimes forget and get my ears blasted when I come back.
Keep up the great work
thanks for the feedback, I can fix that
“Spaghetti is the most common design for beginners”
Me with over 1000 hours and numerous factories with satellite launching capabilities using complete chaos to my advantage: 😔
I've got a main bus, and I have train stations specifically for smelting, green circuits, and steel, but I've never done blocks
Nice Nilaus blueprints. And footage of Megabase in a book 👍
remember to always have the correct settings in the blueprint, or you may place city blocks overlapping each..oth....
If Truped released blueprints, they'd all have a non-zero random absolute offset.
Finally I can understand what does the end of video mean
What did he say
@@alexwang982 "干你娘"(gan ni niang), motherf@cker in Chinese, literally meaning "f@ck your mom"
Hexagon is bestagon.
А если серьезно, спагетти наше все)
Press 2 on your keyboard for Main? Bus!
Multiple Nilaus designs here, good job!
was just trying myself out on a train grid like this then you uploaded it
didn’t expect the swear word lol
I prefer Hexagons.

The bestagons.
Figured it out on my own lol, great advice!
Diagonal city blocks are the best.
When i used absolute snap to grid i broke it somehow. Like after loading game second time i realized that whole book with blueprints does not works because it shifted on one tile
I don't know why it's happened, but i never use absolute snap anymore
this one really hits home XD
I'm a country lass myself.
(Also your chapters are wrong)
fixed
I think I’m gonna use that tiny city block design for wary game, it looks so efficient.
I learn so many new swear words from the ends of trupens videos
It took me half a minute to realize the curse was in Chinese lmao But still, surprisingly good pronunciation my man
wow. More about city blocks please
No, city blocks don't work with my diagonal smelters
Of course they do, you need my parallelogeam cityblock blueprint book
i like the mandarin in the end lol
Thanks for the video Trupen
Still learning new way to express myself when getting run over by a train.
People say that it’s hard to expand main buses, but once you made one bus producing all the sciences. Can’t you just copy the whole thing and make it again I mean if you are using trains to supply the ore and the oil, I don’t see why not? Why have one main bus, when you can have multiple bus ‘modules all fed by train, you don’t even need one centralized location for all the labs since you are producing every science on one bus.
Hello, you've just explained the multi-core architecture approach of modern CPUs.
What is the mod for pasting blueprints from the map view and seeing it?
I usually just copy paste the entire spaghetti plate and grow an all consuming Italian monster
CC: "I don't know I'm not from Taiwan" ;d
I just wonder, when do we have to move on to dead languages for curses?
why hasnt the game added walkways or underground tunnels to walk "around" tracks so u dont randomly die
Cause you must suffer! Sincerely, Train.
You can play Factorio 3D that's called FTB!
What's the fun in that?
Cities skylines in factorio?

Hello Trupen!
Hello
How to i move a absolut cityblock blueprint?
I cant figure the math/alignment if i want my cityblock to be like 10 tiles more left butstill the absolute grid snap
you can shift-drag the yellow rectangle to fit the repeatable-pattern bounding box, and add x/y offests in the third input fields. it's fiddling around :)
How do you get the grid so you can view the blocks
That is using the map view to build stuff. Very useful when you want to build something that is 2 blocks tall and 3 blocks wide.
I love city blocks i want to use no more than 2% available space
BLOCK!
Ok ale spagetti >>>
What do I do with ores that are covered by the block
Mine them first.
Where is that build menu? Is it a mod or debug mode?
you mean blueprints?
it's technology to research
@@Trupen I meant the mod Blueprint World. I found it. Thanks for responding :)
What's the best blueprint for city blocks? I want to get back into Factorio, only played it a few hours.
I don't know what is the best, but I won't recommend city blocks from the start, as their purpose is megabase-scale builds, which for early game means you are either building spaghetti inside a city block or your base is very spread out, which is inefficient for early game when you don't have fast movement. Imo it's fine to have spaghetti until ~first couple rockets. Of course if you end up expanding your spaghetti, it's better to do so in a structured fashion.
@@wumi2419 My first base was very spaghetti. I found it very inefficient given my engineering background too. City blocks seems like an easier alternative to some degree. But I understand what you're saying. Unless there's an option to make the blocks smaller it'll be inefficient early game.
@@wumi2419 I think the CityBlocks showed here are from Nilaus, it ha his own channel with great tutorial and the link to all the blueprints in comments.
The blueprint seen here is from Nilaus. His method is to use the Large Power Poles, space them out horizontally so that 4 of them are at the max distance from each other, and use that as the base. You then select all four of those poles, copy them, rotate them 90 degrees, and paste it so the end Pole of each overlaps. Repeat that for the other two sides, and you wind up with a total of 12 Large Power Poles. Inside that area, you put a total of four Roboports so their Orange building area sticks outside the Power Poles by 3 squares. This should give you complete Roboport coverage of the entire city block, and the coverage outside is just enough to connect a Roboport inside this City Block with a Roboport in another City Block. (Also put Large Power Poles to power the Roboports).
Also put a Radar in one corner so you can keep coverage going.
(I'd provide a link direct to Nilaus' City Block video, but I don't think it is good manners to link to someone else's videos.)
@@toddkes5890 Thanks a lot. I found it. It looks awesome, I'll test it out!
Spaghetti is for pros, you can build megabase with cityblocks and even dont use brain While doing that
was kinda waiting for the block in the thumbnail :(
TBH I look forward to the cussing at the end a little bit more each time. (:
Hexagon bestagon, city block bestablock , nukablow blockagon
factory town
Just a trainbus will be good enough for regular rocket launches and most mods. Unless you're going for SPM records but that's boring as fuck. Yum yum train spaghetti.
спагетти навсегда
Когда цена на факторио упадёт господа?
Зачем ?))))
I think @Nilaus came up with this concept.
If he really did then good for him, it's a very nice and popular design
Что-ж, на этом мои полномочия всё, я не знаю что это и как перевести
i still dont know if you are russian or polish
He was, is, and will be polish.
no, i don't think i will
i like my spaghetti base
Templars of the Path....... Sacred path anyone? :)
noob take, spaghetti is for pros
is that curse words from chinese?
Highly possible
I don't understand...
You are just copying Nilaus, right?
city block design is pretty popular, not only Nilaus uses it :)
I can't understand, who create this megabases? Why? My little base, with only 3 nuclear reactors (that's enough for my base) provides me with weapons, buildings, rockets with satellite's, nuclear presents, and I still can explore new technologies, but... bugs are not a problem for me, and technologies are useless now. Do these people make their megabases just ecause "FACTORY MUST GROW"? Maybe, when I try mods, it will be usefull...
Where to get these nice City Block Blue Prints? Help me, I am spaghettttttiiiiii!
I think the CityBlocks showed here are from Nilaus, it ha his own channel with great tutorial and the link to all the blueprints in comments.
But... who can resist to a little spaghetti?!
