Clicking "Like" even though overall video quality is not so great (e.g. doing things one handed and video freezes sometimes).
Clicking "Like" because the important detail about what the coil boot looks like as it's failing is the kind of info that's super helpful that I'm not likely to find anywhere else.

Ohhhhh, so the coil is arcing out the side of the boot. Insulation deteriorates over time then it takes the path of least resistance which equals no spark. Neat.

I find that by applying a bit of dielectric grease on the inside of the boot, the boot slides all the way down and seets properly over the spark plug assuring a good contact with the spark plug, if not there's a bit of a gap creating an arc

I have a 2011. engine started running rough like a misfiring cylinder it was driving jerky and at about 40 km an hour speeding up from stop it got really Jerky like the transmission was dying or something. it gave a p0302 code misfiring cylinder 2. A friend told me to try cleaning the throttle body first and it completely fixed it apparently just cleaning the throttle body won't fix it for long he just told me to try cleaning it to see if that's what it was so I just went ahead and put a new throttle body on it.

Hey guys, can anyone help out?
Im thinking about purchasing a 2013 caravan (3.6litr v6) with a 135KM the van has been owned by one owner, who did regular maintenance on it...i've been reading up on them and everyone has mixed reviews but from what i've read the 2013's have a lot of transmission problems anyone have experience with this? anything else to look out for? I did do a test drive and it seemed fine but I was only going about 50/70 km around the city, I did floor it and didn't notice any stuttering or anything of such , however the owner did say when he puts it in ''ECO MODE'' he notices a slight change with the transmission shifting and that it takes awhile to pick up in speed? something along the lines of that, I didn't really understand that but is that normal? I plan on taking it to an mechanic to get it checked out so hopefully everything will be good!
    THANK YOU!

    Hi
I have dodge grand caravan 2014 with 97K miles, I have p0304 code, I replaced spark plugs and ignition coils, and I still have the same problem, I swap the fuel injectors to see if the problem will go for another cylinder, but its still the same code at the same cylinder,
Nothing wrong with it while driving, and no noise at all. The only thing while I’m fully stop what ever on Park or drive I feel a little shake on the wheel steering and the rpm flactuate a little bit between 0.5 and 1
Doesnt touch 0.5 and doesnt touch 1, maybe RPM keeps flactuate slowly between 0.6 and 0.9 or less than that.

The spark plugs looked good considering 280000 kms
Because of high miles I replaced all plugs
      And coils
I replaced the first ones myself
About a week later my mechanic replaced the cylinder 4 plug and coil because the code said cylinder 4 only misfired
He took it for a drive was all good
While paying for my bill I had the van running
When I got in the vehicle engine light was on again
he read the code right away and cylinder 4 again showed misfire
A few days later same problem as I first had multiple cylinder misfire !!
What I find interesting is why does it solve the miss firing when shutting off and starting back up for that trip ?
Next trip same thing over !

Hello, thank you for posting your question. It seems that you have covered all the basics, so my recommendation is to check the engine compression in cylinder number two. A good compression should be between 110 (the lowest) to 150 psi. if compression checks ok then you need to check that the ignition coil and the injector are getting the signal from the computer (PCM). I hope these information helps you. Please keep me posted and God bless you.

Hello thank you for posting your question. I am sorry to hear that you have problems with your vehicle. Let's start from the beginning. The code that you mentioned is due to a misfire in the engine. Did you use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) spark plugs? If you did we can rule out the plugs and start looking at other areas of the engine. Is compression the same in all cylinders? What is your fuel pressure? Low fuel pressure can cause a misfire issue. Please, keep me posted.

@@gqautodiagnostics thank you for responding. I’m not too sure if they use OEM, however, they are great, helpful and clueless as why the van still misfires. We changed everything, check the injector, rebuild the engine, new pcm. We gave it back to the dealership as we have been so stressed about it, we have spent quite a lot of money and every time we have it, after few hours it begins to illuminate engine light and shakes while driving and idling. Last weekend, it completely shut down and won’t even start. So bad we were traumatized.

    • @gqautodiagnostics
      @gqautodiagnostics  Před rokem +1

Hello, thank you for posting your comment/question. To answer your question, when it comes to fixing problems you can change the parts that are the problem (like the boot on the coil) or replace all the coils just in case which will increase the cost of the repair so depends on the customer budget. So the customer wanted to replace only what it needed.

I got a 2018 71k miles already spent $1500 chasing a number 2 cylinder misfire check engine light. P302 code. First replacement was all plugs and number 2 coil. Check light off for about 1.5 weeks then came back again. Since found oil on plugs decided to do a seal and gaskets replacement and Since had same issue code. Decided to do all the coils . Light will not go off. No other codes except p302. It's marked as permanent on the code reader. And only issue is with the shudder when you are at a light and barely take foot off the brake until you give it gas then running normal. But occasionally on highway once in a while it shudders a little bit if you say aren't giving it a steady foot on the gas pedal. Mechanic says maybe I need to add a fuel injector additive, but I was running e85 in it when the code 1st showed up. So it can't be deposit build up. From what I've read online. Only option still to check is cylinder 2 compression, maybe #2 fuel injector and maybe a small vacuum leak. Last time I had a 2017 gt caravan and that one coded constant p174 codes and spent almost 2k and could not get the light to stay off for less than 1 or 2 days. When the light was off, u drove that bitch to the nearest dealer and traded it in. Now 3 years later 3rd caravan in 7 years and again check engine light run around. I hate these vans but I drive rideshare and they are the most affordable to buy replacing them every few years once these issues occur. This is the1st one to act up check engine light on within the 65k mile range. All the other ones made it to at least 100k or close to it before the bullshit starts. I should just trade it in for a new sienna hybrid. But for 50k. I can buy 3 of these caravans and my payments will be less than a new or used sienna. But at least those Toyota cars last 200k plus miles.

Same issue with cylinder #2 misfire. It started around 80k miles. Now have 132k. Shakes only at idle if no gas. Apparently these were plagued with bad cylinder head casting causing indefinite compression leaks. I've driven mine across country several times with this issue and never been stranded. Just disconnect your upper coolant hose from the engine bc when it shakes, it slowly pulls the hoses off. I double clamped em and never have much problems than rough idle. 2016 GC SE plus

Hello. You do not have to replace the coil. You can replace just the boot.
