Original Character Concept - "I am Nova."
Say what? December 2017: Stranger Things would soon dive into casting Season 3 and my team and I were inspired to venture into Hawkins with the goal of putting together an EPK that could be used to pitch me for the show.
Wait...what? To be frank; I love Stranger Things. I also love story creation and plot development, and so it was with growing excitement that I realized at the end of Stranger Things' second season, that Season 3 would undoubtedly need one very particular addition to the ensemble: a love interest for everyone's favorite jock-nerd; Steve Harrington.
Am I romantic? Not particularly. Did I recognize that in order for fans to be happy for Nancy and Jonathan, poor Steve needed some kind of romantic resolution of his own? Yessir!
And so my team and I had a little discussion, and decided to have some fun, and create my own version of said character, which could be used in an EPK for future pitches - and, let's be honest, could also just be a fun few minutes in Hawkins ;)
(Sidenote: the writers of this show are magical beings, and of course, did a much finer job than I ever could. Robin is the bomb. But Nova is an actual bomb, so there's that...)
Context:
"If my nose starts bleeding...run."
Hawkins is once again under threat from the Upside Down, and Steve and Dustin (upon learning that the town preacher has been investigating the Hawkins Lab Experiments) befriend the preacher’s "daughter" - only to discover one evening, surrounded by demagorgons, that she is, in fact, Number 7. Unlike 11 and 8, however, there is no record of 7 ever having existed before the lab. And with a gifting as phenomenal and volatile as her namesake, there’s no knowing what could happen if she loses control - or how well she already knows the Upside Down.”
cue the drama
