Sure, bass are bigger during the winter, but winter bass fishing sucks, and here's why!
It's cold
Have you ever tried to fish in a thick coat, bibs, and gloves? IT SUCKS!
I have to pack on so many layers to stay warm on the water during the winter that it makes fishing incredibly difficult.
If I don't, my hands get cold and hurt, or I have to cut my trip short because it's too cold.
It's BORING!
Bass are less active during the winter, so you can cast a lure right on top of a bass, and it will just watch it pass by instead of attacking it, like it would in the summer.
They're hard to catch from the shore
Because they're often suspended and deep, you need a boat to find fish and catch them.
It's tough catching bass in ponds in the winter because that small body of water is significantly affected by the colder temps.
You need special lures
Bass rarely hit the same lures you've been using the rest of the year, so you have to spend more money on lures, and we all know how much we, as anglers, hate spending money on fishing gear!
