I find it pretty fucked up how most transfer students don’t receive ANY merit scholarships when coming in. HU picks out the best and brightest with their transfer admissions, and forces them to fend for themselves. My department of electrical engineering and computer science has no trustee scholarships due to tech companies not wanting to invest in ECCS undergraduates. I understand that it’s a systemic issue with HBCUs not getting enough funding overall, buuuut when your alumni is the VICE PRESIDENT and issues such as lack of housing (despite the PLETHORA of apartment complexes being made) or funding FOR the low-income students coming in is still an issue, there’s something wrong…
I’m in a predicament rn I can’t afford HU and I was accepted so I’m planning on going to state school and then maybe transferring my soph or junior year. Would you recommend my soph or my junior year and would you recommend transferring the fall or spring semester? Also would I have to reapply again as a new student?Will the deposit be as much as a freshman deposit ?When should I apply as a transfer if I have to again? And finally if I gain more outside scholarships can I save them for when I transfer?

Pay my app fee but how long did it take?
It took about 2 weeks to get my housing. It took them a week to process my Housing Application (and fee) and the following week I was assigned housing.
To transfer to Howard in the second semester of your freshmen year, do you have to submit test scores?
I plan on going to miami dade for a year will i be able to do the same as far as transferring to howard?

Because I want to take a gap year to just work and save money. But I’m hearing that Howard doesn’t accept all your credits and I’m not trying to be that far behind.

Tiana Small I’m not sure if they’re still accepting anything right now because of the pandemic but try it I believe it was extended. You can still apply if you’re in school.

So i sent in my app a little while ago now I’m just awaiting my decision, how did it take again for you to get your letter because i have other universities giving offers and i don’t want to miss out on an opportunity waiting on Howard to send a late letter

This video was so helpful because im trying to transfer to howard fall 18. I have 2 friends that got in their freshman year and i saw them applying for housing already and i got so scared cuz i still haven’t heard back from howard. Im like dang even if i do get in im not gonna get housing.
Bryce Pride yes! Unfortunately, Howard takes a long time to reply to transfer students. I suggest calling admissions to see if they’ve begun sending out decisions to transfers. In the meantime don’t be scared, just hope for the best! Wishing you much luck :)
Tailored Taylor update: i just got rejected from Howard today. 😭
Bryce Pride aww 😢 if you want to, you can contest the decision and go through a process where they reevaluate your application. I know a transfer student who was initially declined, but once she spoke with admissions they re-evaluated their decision and accepted her.
Tailored Taylor i might. Because I got all 15 credits needed to transfer and my gpa was a 3.0. So i don’t understand why i got denied.

Hello, I got accepted Fall 18..... but they said housing is full. Do you suggest that I pay the $50 and fight for the housing or what do you think I should do?
Bennie Junior There’s a slight chance that you could get housing since so many people get purged by the financial aid office and withdrawal. But, just to be safe, I’d search for off-campus housing since the deposit is non-refundable
