- Always loved this lamp and the shape of the shade just not its color. So here is what I did to change it.
Vacuum dusted the lamp shade before I started. Then watered down my chalk paint to 50/50 or 60 water/40 paint. Painted 2 coats with a light sand between, and that was it! Worth seeing what it does to the inner layer of this fabric lampshade before you attempt this on yours as there was a less than even bleed through. Lights out it look PERFECT! Lights on...it's a tad off but I still love it!
This is the paint I used:

that is the Black Indigo in the 32oz size
Here it is in the new 8oz size

I think you should paint it all the way through so it will look neater❤
I think we are very similar! I want to be like you when I grow up!!! (I’m 46!). You inspire me. I love that you do so many different things. Crafty girl!
I liked the way the light came through the streaky first version--the final project is lovely too!
Thank you I found a few lamps I liked but not the shade and they can be a little pricey so now I know Im going topaint them but I'm going to paint the inside as well!!! So happy I found this and I liove the plants as well I am a avid plant person
Genius I say! Absolutely genius..thank u for sharing your world with us outsiders, you go girl!🖌️🛋️
This was fun to watch, you have a lovely personality and your apron is very cute, I may steal the idea for my painting projects.
Thank you! Nice tutorial.
I really enjoyed your video 👍 You’re so good at sharing your experience which really helps a first timer like me 😊
I had not considered chalk painting a fabric shade. I wonder if a highly concentrated dye might give the same effect and saturate the fabric evenly? The shades I want to redo are burlap over shade plastic. Repairing a tear in the shade first is my point of pain.
Now I know to put a paper bag on the inside so the paint won’t go through. Thank You.
Nice! ❤
Can I use other kinds of paint? Is chalk paint the only kind to paint a fabric shade?
Also, will the paint tolerate the heat of the light bulb well?
What color is the paint?
Can you use any brand of chalk paint?
Looks lovely….I wish you would directed the camera more down to the item than the ceiling…just a tip.
Link broken. What is the color please?
Why didn't you pain the inside? that would have looked better, would it ruin it.?
Why not just paint the inside as well?
I'm sorry, but the finished, painted lampshade looks horrible. The light it casts is uneven and cheap looking. What are you going to do on the inside?
