This is why I never park my car, I just stop when it’s convenient and get out
You must drive a bmw 😂😂😂jk
@@Laced_outlol, or a saab, etc.. too funny
"I just stop and get out." If only there was a word for leaving your vehicle stationary while you aren't in it... hm.
you stop? I just throw myself out, more convenient
This man just stops in the middle of the highway when he sees a Applebees
"attention please this car is backing up" has to be the best car product I've ever seen. I can imagine a lady in her late 60s and its just her absolute favorite part of her day is using that
I like how it implies that the driver won’t be checking their surroundings…. You’ve been warned, your safety is in your own hands now!
Reminds me of what people in the 80-90s thought future cars would be like
“What if you have to park your Big Mac truck inside of a little garage?”
I love you, James. Never change.
😂 was curious how many people got that reference
6:10
That's the second one he's done 😅
Whenever I hear that original lyric I think she's talking about a literal truck full of McDonald's Big Macs, not the brand Mack.
You all have garages that you can fit your trucks in? I put my suburban in my garage and when the front bumper is putting a dent in the drywall I've still got a foot of SUV hanging outside of the garage door.
The sponsor spot was far more entertaining than I ever thought it would be
seeing james always makes me feel happy, bloke is too funny
Bloke
Bloke
Bloke
Bloke 💀
Mate
I like how James seemed truly upset they spent 300 bucks on the license plate guard 😆😆👍
tbf there was a black one for 50
I think he has a higher up position in the company now where he sees the budget because he used to not care about throwing away money before
@@diegochavez7203 Got views and our comments about spending a wild amount of money on a $270 crappy metal thing, probably worth it
Nissan just needs to make ASMCar their main ad for the Ariya always love watching this channel and listening to past gas you guys are awesome.
I feel like James is randomly a lot more chill than he ever was in previous vids. It’s refreshing lol
Good to see Pumphrey back!
That's a great question!
He's the Jeremy Clarkson of donut
Oh damn I was wondering why the channel was so much more enjoyable recently.
He looks fatter
he was on maternity leave
So happy to see the Kentucky Cobra make his return, I hope James had a good break 💪🏽
I honestly cannot exaggerate enough how hard I looked at the Nissan ariya after that asm-car skit! If only it had a higher towing capacity! That was phenomenal, thank you for the entertainment.
Perhaps the Kia EV6 would be more up your alley. I'm honestly surprised they did a sponsorship for an electric car, because car people seem to hate improvement.
Now of it only wasn’t so horribly butt ugly lmao
The Curb Alert is meant to be installed to help prevent damage to your front bumper/splitter. Its not meant to help with parallel parking. I have one and had it professionally installed on my Challenger and it works great. It was especially helpful when the car was new to me before I got the feel of how close I was to a curb without scraping the lower air deflector.
Idk how they thought it was useful for parallel parking, it literally shows a picture of a car with preferred sensor location near the bottom of front bumper (on the amazon listing). 🤦🏻♂️
“Attention please, this car is backing up” 😂😂😂
That got really old within seconds, I cannot imagine even considering that on a car
@@christophertaylor9100 Certainly not on _my_ car but I can think of three guys that would lose their sht if someone installed that thing in their car while they were sleeping wink wink.
Pumphrey finally!!! Dude you have no idea how much we've missed you.
For parking in the garage, I remember my grandfather always hung a tennis ball from the ceiling that would touch the windshield right where he wanted to park. It has worked for him for probably 40 years :)
I need to do that.
The $16 sensor is the one we use in Brazil. It’s easy to install, it’s cheap and works in literally every single car.
It’s funny cause they had a Brazilian flag on the car they were using to test those sensors with
James is a national treasure, glad to see him in more videos 😂
Love y'all's content! ❤
Curb Feelers are straight-up the most flyest parking tech of all time. They got that old-school cool vibe, and look dope, whether they work or not.
*_Not in my town, you don't_*
@@yoghurtlord1745 I got that reference.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why wouldn't they work? Concept makes perfect sense.
Haven't you ever felt/heard a small branch drag across your car before?
I'd imagine it may be much louder as it'd be mounted to the car itself.
@@dillis2188 I know they work, but I have been in a car with some people who just wouldn't feel shit even if a freight train rammed them. That is why I said what I said.
For like 30 bucks you can get a back up camera license frame that turns on the INSTANT your in reverse ( or you can wire it to stay on, as its just wired to your reverse bulb wires, then to your radio head unit or some other screen like a nav). I put one of my work truck and its worked without issue for 3 years so far. The only backup aid on amazon worth buying tbh
I have wired type front and rear camera combo (for about 50USD) and I love it. There is signal connected to reverse light that switches to rear camera view on display, but camera is always working with ignition.
Also it records everything on SD card, so in case of accident, you have some video material to share with your friends. :)
James goes "what'd we hit?" That has me cracking up... The ad when he puts his feet down there and starts stomping his feet
Definitely agree that the bumper bully looks awful, I certainly wouldn't drive around with one. But I think the entire purpose of that thing is to store it in the trunk and then take it out once you're parked. And in that case, I think it works great. You never have to see it while your driving and covers the entire bumper. Better than the plate cover in all aspects in my opinion, covers more area and you don't have to have it on while driving. If I lived in a city I'd probably buy one.
James did a hilarious job on the ASM-CAR commercial, and I am all for it to trend...as long as he does it. xD
I think the point of the park daddy is to recognize you’re too close to the wall, so you can just back up a bit
They were heavily smoking on that test . " so it just never shuts off "
I think from the description, it sounds like it's for pulling into your garage and letting you know when your nose/tail is clear of the garage door. It's for the front of the garage, not the rear. It makes noise when you're in the path of the door, and stops when you're not; that's my interpretation, at least.
James and damaging company vehicles. Name a more iconic duo.
***PARKING IS HARD***
I love james’ intros🤣
I love that little truck! The paid sponsor commercial was hilarious!
I have the 16 dollar one for the past 4 years. Really like it, it comes in handy you are parking in the dark and if you got a tinted rear glass.
James is back!! Life is good!!
welcome back Papa Pumphrey!
I actually have that backup camera😂 I have it wired to constant voltage while the car is on. Works with my phone well but I also mounted an older ipad mini that I use to play music. Through apples automations I set it up to connect to the cameras Wi-Fi network and launch the app as soon as the iPad connects to my cars Bluetooth. 2011 camaro ss.
To be fair that park daddy thing could also be used secondary for intruders coming through your garage depending on where it's located and where you are in the house, dual purpose 🤷🏻♂️
Just put a bunch in a hallway and you'll have budget mission impossible laser trip wires
They didn't use it the right way.. Its a sensor that tells you when you're too close to the wall, just back up and it did it's job
@@ChrisDaVillian I agree. Not difficult to realize that if it's always on and therefore you don't want to leave your car tripping it, then just don't leave your car tripping it.
In the first place, sensors like this never were meant to tell you where to park. Their purpose was always to tell you when you are getting too close to an obstacle which is two different things.
And if they actually would bother reading the box, they'd find out that it's actually supposed to tell you when you are IN the garage, aka. when you entered it sufficiently to close so as to leave maximum space in front of you. Because you can always put things in front and still leave the garage, but drive up to a wall and you're wasting the entire space behind the car.
So you close the garage door, place them right in front and you stop when they entering the garage and they stop beeping. There, maximum space efficiency.
I love that their test cars are growing both in number and exterior ridiculous modifications....Its like a modern mad max set over there lol
Nice to see you back James!
Every old person should be required to have that, "Attention please this car is backing up!" device
James standing up in the car while backing up did it for me😂
Always a good day when Donut drops a new video :) keep em coming!
James my boi. I hope your good and okay. Please make some more content. I need it in my life.😂
Great to see you back James!! Been missing you.
I love these wish/Amazon product reviews! And the commercial for the Nissan was hilarious!!
That 16 dollar parking sensor is actually pretty dang good. Would be smarter to mount the lights right below your third brake light, just like Mercedes used to do. That way it's visible when you look into your rear view or behind your shoulder.
Whenever Pumphrey, says I love you, it's just what I need to keep my day
You all are entertaining and informative with the content, great job!
Couldn’t stop laughing when y’all were running over the cones and the alarm was repeating “Attention attention attention” 🤣
feels like its been a minute since we saw James... glad to see you again homie.
I have one of those cheapo parking sensors, it works surprisingly well and has really came in handy with some particularly tough parking spots.
Simple tech, but highly efficient.
I have the Crimestopper version (PARK-PMCU). I tapped the speaker to trigger a front camera to display whenever it detects obstacles up front. Also used a rydeen gps4000 to only turn the sensors on under 5mph, and that gets 12v only in Drive gears (not Park, Reverse or neutral)
I have spacial awareness and eyeballs
When Jeremiah laughs, there is no pain in the world.
Seen the bumper bully on so many cars and small SUVs in Denver it’s like people would rather damage there cars then learn how to drive.
So happy to see James again
To those folks that sponsor CZcamsrs and have their ads a part of the content (and not derived from CZcams itself): I never skip the ads for Donut. I have no idea if Donut writes them or the sponsors, but it is extremely entertaining and actually gains my attention, leaving a good impression. No one likes ads, but if they are of this quality, it would be less painful. Just say'n
I've had for some 5 years that very same back up sensor, though under a different importer name, and it still works really good. It's the kind of accessory that truly delivers what it promises.
I've installed them on 3 of my family's cars. They are great. Well worth the $15 for the piece of mind in case some kid runs in back of the car or something.
I couldn't trust something like that. I need to see where I'm going on a bsckup camera.
@@perspectiveflip Then just do what I did on my first car and use a dash cam with an optional back up camera. The more the merrier.
The only parking aid I ever remember seeing growing up were the little wire curb detectors. First time I ever went to NYC I saw bumper guards on vehicles everywhere and just thought "yea, makes sense since no one here can drive."
Ha! Yeah that's the first and only city I've seen them so far and that was already several years ago
1:00 I had to do a double-take here because I swore it was Ari from Revzilla hanging out the window of the Previa.
I used to work at a shop in downtown Seattle. You could tell which vehicles spent quite a bit of time parked on the street in downtown because the front and rear bumpers would be absolutely annihilated by a trillion little dings and scratches. So, I could see the possible benefit to some of the bumper bumpers that are quick/easy to install/remove.
Kenwood full DIN flat-screen head unit with reverse camera works flawlessly! Been on my BB6 for years!
Also, I like how you could literally just hang a tennis ball from the ceiling for the same job as these tech things.
Dun really like the idea of balls hanging around my garage
@@clipsedrag13 Just put a short 2x4 on the ground at your front wheel
@@Sandwichr and mount it to the ground .... which so many are not capable of .
Looking healthy James, keep up the good work.
8:56
justin just gotta agree with what everyone says 😭 since the day he joined Donut
I love the advertisement clips from James! Camo hat is still my favourite though. Love from Germany!
I'd really like to see more up to speed episodes from James
When will Donut start selling curb feelers? I NEED THEM.
More car tech videos please, I like them the most.
Hell yeah great video. Glad Pump is back.
Never realized that other people did the "tennis ball on a string" garage parking assist. My dad has that in his garage.
Also, I really like the repeating "Attention please, this car is backing up" warning. Would love to surreptitiously install that on a friend's car.
It would be cool if donut did a goofy high-low series with bicycles where you mount an engine kit to turn it into a motorbike and modify the bicycles
Always loved watching videos at Donut. Been a subscriber since they have a segment called science garage. Watching all the way from the Philippines 🔥 keep it juiced
That Nissan Ariya ad ASM these guys have come up with, is the best car commercial I have ever seen. 🤣💪🏼
I wanna see these things used on a teenagers road test to see the testers reaction 😂
I wonder how well the backup camera would be if it wasn’t installed upside down . Lol
Edit, you can set your Bluetooth to auto reconnect and even a modern car camera turns off when you’re not backing up .
I'm glad someone said it. I have a similar thing mounted to the license plate holder on my trailer. Swap the tail light and reverse wires, and it's always on.
but it's not bluetooth, it's wifi. which does take atleast 5 seconds to connect
@@fredd3.14 Bluetooth also takes a few seconds to connect or reconnect, I have a Skullcandy hesh 2 wireless headset and a Google Pixel 3a they are both Bluetooth 4.0 and I have to wait a few seconds from when I turn on my headphones to when they say they are connected before I can press play.
I can’t lie this was probably on of their best ads yet. That genuinely made want to be in that car
When James looked at Jerry and goes “what did we hit”😂😂
The ASM-CAR was one of the best bits you guys have ever done! Also great to see James back!
Oh hi James. Didn’t know you still worked here 😅
OK... that first group of things, totally agree. Storage for the side bumpers, the rubber LP guard is useful... the flap thing just looks like your mechanic forgot to remove the fender guard before you drove off.
I thought that second LP guard was a towing hook point at first and I was like, WTF? you can't tow on the LP like that!
That 3rd set, for the price of the "curb detector" you could buy the reverse radar AND a decent backup camera system and maybe even have it professionally installed. (a BETTER backup camera than the one in the 5th set, like say one that's ALWAYS connected)
That parking wall things... once upon a time, there was this awesome invention called a tennis ball on a string used for the same thing. (LOL, and I typed that right before the sponsor part, so before he said the same thing)
Backup alarms... just, no... I honestly don't see the point of the regular ones myself
"Am I on a space station? No" 😂😂😂😂😂 great ad
We all just going to gloss over that james was gone for 2 months?
Glad to see ya again James!! Great vid as always lads!
That "attention please, this car is backing up" reminds me of "watch the tram car, please" on the Wildwood boardwalk
Congrats on the Nissan Sponsorship! You guys are getting big!
Fr congrats to them
They've been sponsored by nissan for like 6 or more videos now
@@K-Y-L-E My first time seeing it. Sorry for being late.
Imagine needing parking aids to park😂😂😂😂 just go out and practice. Banger of a video Donut!!! Also can we make ASM-Car a thing please. Cause I would like to hear James talk about the Dodge demon like that
ASM-caR is the sick shit 🤘🥳😇!
If you donate, I'll write your name on the hood, buddy 😏.
@@daskleinegluck4553 thanks for the offer, but my name is on 2 shirts
I think the curb sensor one is supposed to go in the front facing forward so you don't scrape your front bumper lip on a curb when pulling into a parking space.
That garage parking assistant worked flawlessly, why was it in the cheap crap section?
I would never buy it but the countdown is amazing, just figure out which number is close enough for you and always park using that number
6:46 I find this hilariously complex for something with a simple solution. My friend hangs tennis balls from the ceiling and when it hits the window you know you're close to the wall. It's like the American engineered pen for space vs Russia just using pencils.
i see the issue with the backup camera, you installed it upside down. turn it right side up, and you will love it! LOL 🤣🤣🤣
Always love these
That previa is so badass I want one !
Donut is just the best. Thanks for the consistently quality content!!
You guys killed it with the Ariya commercial! I love it 😂
laughed the whole time in that last segment with back up cam!
That Nissan ad was a masterpiece, couldn't skip it, well done! 🤣👏👏👏
For back up cameras I like the one that is the review mirror that’s cool
Liked that WAP reference 😂 "bic Mac truck inside of a little garage."
Love the show, I bought the parking sensors years ago, for my work van. These days it comes almost standard with a backup cam.
I put that 16 dollar back up sensor on my first car and it's a good way to learn your edges and limits. Don't need it anymore but it takes credit for my training lol.
Love these test videos!!!
I have the $12-$15 license plate back up camera paired with my $1000 kenwood touchscreen media player and it’s exceptional. They waterproof it cheaply with silicone but I’m the waterproofing works. The picture is super crisp and clear. It’s my 2nd one on this car because after 5 years (no garage) it was faded from the Vegas sun and the picture quality finally got blurry + lost some waterproofing. Worth more than I paid for sure
OMG!!!! That WAP reference was too funny!! 🤣
Ayyyeeee James is back!! Love watching him
James is back! I knew the charges wouldn’t stick!!! I’ve never heard of a sous vide machine being used like that!
I’ll be in the north east area in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut they mainly have those on their back bumpers. I see it all the time when I travel through when I first saw it I was mind blown as well.
Previous owner black out tinted the rear window of my Mustang. (no reverse camera). In broad daylight, it’s tough to see out the back window, at night it’s just darkness. I have to back up by feel. I roll the windows down to listen out for people or other sounds.
In my garage, I have 2” of clearance - the depth of the garage is 2” longer than the car. I usually put up a piece of cardboard - when it moves, I’m in far enough to close the garage door.
