UFC Fighters "Discuss" Alex Pereira at Heavyweight...

- Alex Pereira has his sights set on becoming the first three-division UFC champ in promotional history. With UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones on the bench and interim UFC heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall looking for a fight, it makes sense for Pereira to face Aspinall
Alex Pereira’s explosive UFC 300 win over Jamahal Hill has left fans wanting more from ‘Poatan’. The Brazilian has made no secret of his desire for his next fight to be in his home country, with UFC 300 taking place in Brazil, as a heavyweight clash against Tom Aspinall would see him become the first fighter to hold titles across three weight classes. After his win at UFC 300, Pereira stood in the Octagon and with the light heavyweight belt draped over his shoulder, told UFC commentator Joe Rogan that he wanted a fight at heavyweight.
Following the fight, Aspinall posted an image of himself glaring at Pereira as the light heavyweight titleholder prepared to step into the Octagon at UFC 300.

We need to start thanking Israel adesanya for calling out Alex and lighting the fire in that man’s heart. I really believe Alex can get that heavyweight belt and I want to see a movie made about his life! What a story he has.
He did say "probably getting his dk sucked by a crack whre in a bar" too but too bad they edited out.
Israel didn’t light shit in this mans heart. It was already lit
But izzy didnt thought alex would really come. He wanted just to shit on him. Izzy is not a good person

@@Pia-ho9dm what?
If he takes a HW belt, he is gonna be the best martial artist ever. Hall of fame in 2 different combat sports and doing things nobody never did in both sports.
Greatest UFC figher for sure, but martial artist? He has 0 ground game. Too one dimensional for that title.
This is some crazy recency bias. Holding so many belts while clearly being fastracked is cancer. He hasn’t made much title defenses for his belts and once he gets the HW belt he’d prolly call it quits. He needs to fight Ankalev, not Aspinall. Dominance is shown in title defenses not in the amount of belts. The best MIXED
Martial arts fighter is one who’s well rounded and has no holes, not a specialist with holes. This is why Alex is fed opponents that primarily strike, and he was very lucky that Jamahal was dumb enough to stand up with him. Throw in a well-rounded fighter who knows when to just take the fight to the ground and Pereira will finally be tested in actual MMA standards.
@@khylaldana2757I don’t mind the 3 weight spectacle either. More entertaining than another title defense. Regardless of merit. This is just too rare of a situation to pass up. What other fighter can even be considered to be in this position? Business wise it just makes more money
But yeah moving up now is way too soon. Another 1 or 2 defenses at least. See if he can stop Ankalaev’s ¿ takedowns. lol however it’s spelled. If he can’t stop those he’s definitely not stopping Aspinal

Alex has nothing to lose, Tom has. As a huge fan of both i would love to see a 255 pound Pereira
240 most likely he’d be a smalll heavyweight
@@havik5629my man, Poatan already walks around 240, so I guess if he wanted to put a little bit of weight, he could easily go to 250 with a low body fat. you can see from some of Alex's videos where he mentions his weight.
@@havik5629he walks around at 230 I think he can bulk up 20lbs
@@Tiredofyall99 Bro, he fought at 232 in the UFC 300. He went from 205 to 232 in just a few hours, probably he walks around at 240. Imagine him bulking to fight at heavyweight. He can get 255 easily.
He would look very bloated at 255 unless on a little 🧃
Let the man do whatever he wants. He’s a killer and we are privileged to see him work while he’s in his prime.
To the fact fighters and people are discussing about Alex possibility of becoming heavyweight champion itself is some legendary shit. This discussion has never happened before.

I bet even alex didn't think things would go this amazing for him, i'm so happy for the guy😊
I am brazilian and have watched all his interviews. I really don't believe he sets limits as an ordinary person. Altought, he also doesn't dream so much (few expetations), but worries only to win his existing challenges at the present. So, he rises step by step, but surely is a big big step.

@@ramzichouk4080he does indeed have a low chance at beating Jon Jones, but if he can improve his takedown defence I feel that he will be favoured. We saw Jon Jones struggle against Dom Reyes, Thiago Santos, and Alex Gustafson who all had superior stand up abilities while ensuring the fight didn’t go to the ground.
if someone can do it, it's him. 🗿
One big thing to give Alex full credit for, he's not talking about moving up because there's a perceived weak champ in the division, you have JBJ who's still kind of a question mark at hw but definitely in contention for GOAT all around, then you have Tom who's shown no obvious weaknesses. Feels legit that Alex would want the shot no matter who he needed to fight
True. GSP only went up when Bisping became champion, because it was an easier fight for him.
Anderson never dared to try when Jones was champion.
@terolek Yeah, really liked GSP, and respect Bisping, but that was the example I had in mind. And even just stylistically, both JBJ and Tom aren't great match ups for Alex. He could definitely hope for an easier path
@@mahlontodd1383Gane.
It is these details that create real legends.
The public gives GSP a lot of credit. His double champion was because he only moved up when he saw a weak champion in the category
Aspinall is someone EVEN JON JONES DOESN'T HAVE COURAGE
Poatan would simply go up even if Ngannou was the champion because he wants to test himself so he doesn't measure up. CAN I GO UP AND WIN?
He would even go up to fight Fedor at the peak of Pride
Jon Jones is the GOAT, but he spent 3 years working up the courage to move up
@@terolekJon Jones could cut weight and fight at middleweight and Anderson could move up to light heavyweight
I believe that neither of them did this because at the time it was not common to want to be a double and mainly because the two were very good friends, there was mutual respect

Chama to heavy weight CCC status
I mean can anyone imagine any middleweight champion like izzy or even great Anderson silva go to light heavyweight and beat hill, jiri and jan. That's crazy to even think. Izzy couldn't even pass jan. And now Pereira is in talks about fighting heavyweight. It's like islam fighting Romero or Costa two weight class above.
Prime Anderson Sliva clears out entire current LHW divison. His only challenge would be Poatan
@@kevincarter2020Anderson is the 2nd GOAT, and perhaps the best Striker in the UFC
But Jiri, Rakic are Strikers that Anderson Silva could lose
See Adesanya he is BIG AT MIDDLE WEIGHT 83kg was 22-0 SEEMED UNBEATABLE
He rose and he lost to Blachowizs easily, just being EXCELLENT in one category doesn't mean you're elite in another category
POATAN, JAMAHAL, GLOVER, ANKALAEV, RAKIC, BLACHOWIZS, ROUNTREE, Adesanya not only lost to Blachowizs, he might not even be top 10 in this category
Do you know Petrino? He was unranked until last month, today he is only in the top 15 and he would have a chance against Adesanya, the power is another
What i love about Pereira is that he NEVER trash talks in front of his future opponents. That's tribute to the way he holds himself ! 💪
Bisping will even trade his left eye for Tom aspinal....
Cool content dude, gained a new follower 👏👊
your awesome bro. just subbed
Thanks for the sub!
if he wins at heavyweight we have to put him pfp n1 champ at 3 diff divisions that kinda definition of P4P who would be best if there was no weight 3 division champ is closest thing to that
Actually he should be already p4p #1
Aspinall can beat him in pretty much every area in the game but win or lose it would be a great experience for Alex if there is a lot of grappling involved.
DC should came back and face him at HW
If he joins Khabib's gym and learn wrestling, he'll be deadly.
He is brazilian, i think he already trained with some masters of jj
he's 36 bro. Will this guy really learn fcking arm triangle in this age?

No matters he will win or loss in heavyweight... We all see, what he proved.. Respect ❤️❤️
Whats the use of having a HW UFC champ if we never get to see him fight? We have to wait around and wait for money fights?

HE CAN LEARN EVERITHING FROM HIM.
I’m conflicted. I like both fighters. Alex stoic warrior attitude is charming but Toms versatile style is intriguing.
Se ele derrotar tom por mais difícil que seja, com certeza tera alex vs jon jones e eu to pouco me lascando que vai vencer, eu so queria ver a loucura que seria todo esse evento. Seria historico e alucinante 🐐❌🗿
Thank you izzy for bringing alex to ufc 🗿CHAMA
I would love to see him and Tom go at it at heavyweight.
He may not can wrestle but he's great at getting to his feet and or staying on his feet
Before he goes to heavyweight, I want to see one more fight with him at light heavyweight vs Mogahed Ankaleav.
Bro made middle weight and light heavyweight flamboyant again, can't wait to see Jones vs Pereira on heavy weight
Champ champ champ, how jaded will Izzy be if chama becomes heavyweight champ
I’d say it more of a vindication for Izzy. Go watch his glory fights against Alex. YES I know he lost but they were razor close. It just shows how fucking good izzy really is if Alex does champ champ champ status
@@ThatkiDm3sure. but in a sense that mentality takes away from alex. sure izzy is great, no one is denying that. but give alex his credit without making it about izzy
@@kaedenedens8677 lmao read the original comment. You know… the guy who made it about Izzy somehow
why bring Izzy into this?
If Alex moves up to heavyweight we need him versus Jon Jones it makes the most sense they are both the same age both are legends.
I think we suspect what will happen. J Blow Jones will jump at Pereira option rather than Tom to solidify legacy , so Jon can beat what he perceives as an easier option with less risk of facing a larger faster all rounder.
Don't forget, Tom Aspinall leads the Record Book in the ufc statleader tables with four first positions from 32 tables across 4050 fighters. Tom is 1st for Shortest Fight time at 2 mins 10 needing only 134 strikes to gain 14 finishes. All Tom's wins are finishes, only one going to second round. Tom is 1st for best striking differential at 4.95 = he has taken less strikes per fight than anyone with a similar number of fights. Tom has least bottom position time and least bottom position % with 100% takedown success and 100% takedown defence. Tom is also 3rd for most strikes per minute and 4th for most knockdowns per minute. Joint second = are Oliveira, Jim Miller and GSP with three first positions each. Pereira has one entry in the tables with 4th for Sig Strike Accuracy at 62%. This is great BUT Tom would be 2nd to Overeem at 67% if he had met the 350 strike threshold. He may never reach it as he finishes fights in an average of less than 15 strikes. Sorry there is no comparison. Pereira has more decisions, takes more hits, has less KOs and finishes and more losses in the ufc than Tom. The record he and JBJ hold is they are backed by the ufc allowing them to fast track. In the case of PEreira, he was allowed to fight Izzy, lose to Izzya and then move up and fight for LHW and to avoid wrestlers and grapplers. However, he is not as protected as JBJ as UFC ignore his criminality, drug cheating and unwillingness to fight those who pose a serious threat. All but one opponent for JBJ in LHW were older and smaller, all had smaller wingspan. Gane had no grappling of takedown defence and no single punch knockout power.
In January of this year, Poatan published a photo of his normal weight (230lbs). Considering that the guy is quite slim for his height, I believe that in just over 6 months he could reach 250lbs without a juice diet. At that point, there would be no more discussion about being qualified to face heavyweight opponents.
Alex vs Tom is going to be hard watch for me , i love them both as a fighters and as a persons
Me too
Toms way more likeable imo, plus I think he subs Pereira but I’m bias
Never underestimate anyone ever!!!!
I am from the Netherlands Alex was few years back already huge at Glory Kickboxing.
If he beats Heavy weight ....he gonna be the best ever in the UFC
Sinceramente não ligo pro resultado, deem a chance pro poatan ir pros pesados. Apenas faca isso acontecer ufc
Alex is not sniffing the HW belt as long as Tom Aspinall is in that division.
I love that everyone is putting Alex vs Tom and not Alex vs jon maybe it’s because he’s hurt but also because everyone knows Jon won’t fight anyone but stipe “for legacy”
Everyone losing to alex because they wanna prove they can strike with him but hes gonna meet a man that will use mma
Aspinal and Jones for sure would use mma. Pereira is a good striker but his grappling has holes in it. blackbelt or not he still doesn't have elite level grappling.
I think he struggles vs Curtis Blaydes, Bones, Aspinall
@@ma-bx1oyhow do you know? Got inside information? Are you Glover?
@@ma-bx1oywe got the black belt police here
@@sleepisthecousinofdeath7395 you sound like a casual. Alex Pereira came from glory kickboxing to the ufc. Watch his early fights in the ufc and you can see his grappling was limited. this was 2 years ago. it takes the average person 10 years to get blackbelt. it took me 3 years just to get a blue belt. that is the belt after white belt. I would have to say just because he is friends with glover is how he got his black belt so fast.
It's amazing he is doing all of this starting at age 34.
Fun fact: After the weigh in at UFC 300, Alex Pereira rehydrated to 236lbs. He's also the same height as Jon Jones
I love jones and still think he is the goat but realistically the ufc needs to strip the undisputed HW belt and have it between aspinall and pereira, if Alex steps up to HW
The sitting at the bar line is getting old budy😂
Izzy and his fans punching the air rn
Alex's oponent can't wrestle if they get knocked out. The fact that he hits SO hard, but still trains those techniques and is SO good with his hands. yeah I think he could hold three titles.
I don't understand why they are all talking about Alex facing Aspinall when the Heavyweight champ is J. Jones and if the UFC still wants to make him versus Miocic for the next round before unifying the belt, I would rather see Pereira debuting in Heavyweight maybe against Gane in France( I consider that Alex has good chances in a fight like that), even though being a FN, defends the LHW against Ankalaev in the MSG card or the last card of the year, and if he beats Gane the UFC could easily in the first quarter of 2025 make J. Jones x A. Pereira instead of Miocic that it would one of the biggest fights of all time and the result would be Aspinall(considering he beats Blaydes) against Jones or Pereira, it's a win-win result for Tom. It's a idea that has a lot of ifs but if the UFC but if it happens it would be great.
Alex is an inspiration 🙏
Rumble vs Poatan
We wouldn’t be having this discussion if not for one person’s injury. Also stop acting like they don’t weight cut 35 lbs to fight in the lower weight class.
Pereira vs Aspinall is a super fight!
I hope Alex doesn't move to heavyweight.
yea I know. bro letting all those W's get to his head. there is always someone bigger, better and faster out there.
He's truly avenging clover iff he beat aspinal Jon Jones would have no choice but to fight Alex.
Reason being Alex would be the argument against Jones for greatest to have ever done it. On paper.
wouldn’t go two rounds, Aspinall would destroy him, he’s a huge monster
You've got to admire the guy's audacity for he's keeping himself busy ! No time for rust baby !💪
I remember in his time, they talk about Anderson Silva move into heavyweight.... that's bullshit
It does matter that he cant wrestle he aint fought any and dana could match him them its called help cant believe yall dont see that
I wouldn't be shocked if he beat Aspinal, but I wouldn't be betting against Aspinal....I think Tom would take him down and smother him before submitting him...
It will be to much.

Pereira was prolly gonna beat Hill anyway, but the whole ref break thing was weird, Hill was just getting reset when BAM
Keeping it real I think Usman was the only one who said Pereira would win
Demetrious Johnson speaks honestly.
I think Poatan would be mistaken if he moved to heavyweight. His natural weight is around 230 pounds whereas Aspinal is around 270
DC playing both sides man. How come Alex can't wrestle bro? He may not be a Roger Graice but his is BJJ BLACK BELT. You probably don't know what it takes to get or be one.
I think it was Bruce Lee who said something like I don't fear the man who practices 1000 different kicks but the one who practices 1 kick 1000 times is the guy you fear. We've seen it with khabib, Izzy, Alex and even Ben askren when you have one skill set at a very high level if you are smart about how you fight then you'll do great things

Please don't let it happen. I LOVE Poatan. Aspinall will destroy him. Not only is Tom HUUUUGE- he's a total package. He can do it all. The only thing Alex could to to a beast like Tom is to KO him. Good luck with that. I want Alex to keep on defending at LH. If he develops some wrestling skills- then maybe he goes to Heavyweight.
I completely agree. Tom would crush him. It’s a mistake and it’s an ego driven hype train right now he needs to stay put.
You say (write) "The only thing Alex can do to a beast like Tom is to KO him"
Well that is what Alex does constantly & extremely well throughout both of his sport combat careers, this a man who can fight at middle weight but has the size to be a heavyweight & who has beaten Ngannou's UFC power scale record.
However i'm not saying Tom hasn't got a chance,in my mind i think it is great match up & i wouldn't bet on either to win or lose but as a fellow Englishman & from the same area as Tom my support goes to him but i am a fan of both of them as they are extremely talented fighters but also humble & decent men. 👍

Also after the Hill fight i'm surprised people like you still have doubts that Alex should be even entertaining the idea of fighting Tom,more knowledgeably people on combat sports than you or i doubted Alex before the Hill fight but have you not listened to how they speak about him now & none of them are saying he will run through Tom,they are only saying that Alex belongs in the same octagon as Tom.
