The actual story of the song for those curious is that Elise was a girl who Beethoven taught, and he fell in love with her. She wasn’t good at piano, so Beethoven wrote her a simple song that even she could play (Für Elise,) but after Beethoven found out she was getting married, he was heartbroken, so he made the rest of the song so hard she’d never be able to play it in its entirety 💀
Dang, he took the petty route.
And he named it Für Elise so no English speaking person would ever pronounce it correctly 😂
Edit bc I keep getting answers to this that take this way too seriously: I am, in fact, not trying to make a statement of what I believe to be fact, bc it obviously isn't. It's just a stupid joke. Thank you
Another Edit bc people keep responding very kindly trying to teach me how to say it... thank you, but I am German, I know how to pronounce ü 😂 I just kept seeing a lot of people trying and failing to say it correctly, that's why I made this joke haha
@@audrayliar7480he spoke german so the name of the song was german
@@ghosteaaa7949 yes obviously xD but the ü is really difficult to pronounce for people who aren't native German speakers and even her name Elise is usually not pronounced how it would be
Just think it aligns well that it's a song that's difficult to play and difficult to pronounce for a lot of people xD
Edit: it was pointed out that the wording could lead to misunderstanding. Obviously not every non native German speaker will have difficulties with the ü as it exists in other languages too. Basically what I wanted to say was that some native English speaking people (as I said in my first comment with an added exaggeration for comedic effect) would have difficulties. But those native English speakers could still be German speakers if they learned it, only not native German speakers, so what I should have written could have maybe been non-native-German native-English speakers or something ridiculously wordy like that. And since I didn't, and instead shortened it to just non native German speakers, I now realise I created some sort of weird binary of only English and German in the case of ü which is of course silly, bc ü appears in more languages. Sorry for this reckless comment xD
Bro took petty to a whole new level
"Atleast I know no one will know this stupid song except Elise..."
*song becomes the most popular piano song in history afterwards*
LOL i love this song.
specifically the first minute or so of the piece, which really blows because as decent as this full piece is, it's made even less so by amateur pianists who can barely even play the first section
We grew up knowing this as the garbage truck song lol This is like the one classical piece every single person in my country knows.

The crazy thing is, he actually wrote this song for her because he was in love with her. Then when she was with another man, he wrote the second half of the song to be so complex that she would never be able to play It on her piano.

@@brandonmanwellFax

@@brandonmanwellfacts
You should probably make sure your student isn’t married before writing a song for her, that’s hardly the friendzone 💀
Someone once told me that Elise had either died, broken up with him(which isn’t likely considering the times), or had been caught cheating on him, I can’t remember which one it is, at some point when he was writing the song about her. That’s why it gets angsty at some point in the middle of Für Elise.
She was getting married to another dude. He wrote it so hard so she wouldn't be able to play it
it was a simple song because elise sucked at piano and he made the song harder so she couldn't play the song in its entirety because she got married to another man.
They were never married, he was just inlove with her

Crazy to think that he wrote it for Therese not Elise and that some water damage to the paper changed the name of the composition forever. There was no Elise in his life but there was a Therese he proposed to in the same year he wrote the song 1810. She was also in possession of the original music sheet.
Elise was the pet name of Therese

True. There was a woman named Therese Malfatti. She was a student of Beethoven to whom he supposedly proposed in 1810, she turned him down and married an Austrian noble. Some scholars think that his notoriously sloppy handwriting was misinterpreted and it was actually Fur Therese.
