    Those turbos spooling what a sound. Miss the old diesels. I was born and raised in Tring Hertfordshire on the West Coast mainline. Used to go train spotting and it was awesome when diesel freights would come through.

    Great stuff. What a lovely clean cab .Weren't like that when I used to cab them in the 70s. Everything covered in Tea stains lol. Especially liked the streaks below the windows . Lol.

    Next best thing to being in the cab yourself. Great video and lovely to see the countryside of Essex.
    From the comments, am I to understand that you can book a ride in the cab of a Class 37?

    This locomotive sort of reminds me of the kind that was modeled for the Thomas the Tank Series when they had a diesel by the name of Boco.

    Always been curious, why does the throttle handle make an air sound?

      I wish I knew, sorry. Does anyone else know reading this please ?

    • @bfapple
      @bfapple Před 8 měsíci +3

      It’s a pneumatic system. The air sounds are due to pressure being charged and released.

      Traction motors would soon overheat on a heavy train so cold air is blown through them to keep them cool. The blower motors and air ducts are in the nose end, also exhauster which is for the braking system and fire bottles filled with CO2 gas

      They were disorganised with the cab ride tickets and the guy was kindly trying to help resolve the situation.
