- This episode was originally broadcast on the 21st January, 1989. The one and only David Jason talks with Michael about his then new show "A Bit of a Do" and of course, Only Fools and Horses and what it was like working with Roger Lloyd-Pack who played the great character 'Trigger', along with telling some lovely anecdotes about filming the hit comedy series and memories of his father.

Anyone watching in 2024
Yes. Is that weird?
Ditto
👍
No, I'm in 2089, the AI master droid forced me to watch this, even though I identify as German. I still don't get why zey are laughing.
Yep!😊
Loved him as Toad 👍🏴
David's appearance on here was also during the time Series 6 of Only Fools and Horses was airing on BBC One. It was the first series to be in the 50 minute format on a Sunday night, and it was the time the show sky rocketed in the ratings, gaining around 16 to 18 million viewers per episode in 1989, with the 1989 Christmas special getting a whopping 20 million viewers.
Thanks John for offering us that bit of trivia!
@@majordolbyscat No problem, I am a huge Only Fools fan.
Season 6 is indeed my favourite one.
It’s the best series as well of all of them
Very good. Now try to shift these blow up dolls for us you plonker
When I think of my favorite period of Delboy; it's David at this age. ^_^
I was thinking the very same thing when I first watched this.

Love Sir David’s story about the wind up he and Nicholas did to cast and crew and all the other stories from the other guests really enjoyed this video👍👍👍♥️♥️
This man sir David Jason is my best actor if not the best actor ever
Not only was he brilliant in only fools and horses but sir David Jason and Ronnie in open all hours there's no ever two comedian's that are better together than sir David Jason and Ronnie on this planet
One of the best actors ever, I love David Jason so much!! ✌☺
A true legend and a National Treasure.
@@majordolbyscat Indeed!! 👌😌
@@majordolbyscatlol u won’t think that when the truth comes out
That clenched fist / pursed lips entrance at 0:24 says so much about the man.
What a presence.
This Aspel and Co edition aired on the night before the episode "Chain Gang" of Only Fools aired on BBC One on Sunday 22nd January 1989, the episode where they try to buy gold chains from what turns out to be a con man.
Arnie the retired jeweller mush.
Lovely clip - good to see David Jason and Emily Lloyd together. Emily is so lovely and cute.
Yes Rodney can we leave "this is your life" to Michael Aspel please.....
Gooooooood grief, Penfold. It's that David Jason fellow.
Kudos for Dangermouse reference
@@majordolbyscat my favourite cartoon at the time. I don't think David Jason has ever made a programme or series I didn't enjoy.

Roger Lloyd pack's daughter Emily
He really does have an essence of del in him
Wonderful series Michael aspel brilliant presenter
I totally agree. And while there is the feeling of the interviews being more scripted than say the Parkinson formula, there is no denying Michael is an enigmatic, charming and humorous host that makes his guests feel totally at ease.
Michael Aspel let his guests shine
so young david jason
Emily Lloyd was hot
Do you have the complete interview ?
I am not sure if you are aware but due to playing it safe, after have the channel taken away from me for a short while, I did have the Peter Howitt uploaded but because of a copyright issue with a film clip, it has been taken down. I will re-edit the clip and upload it again in the future.
@@majordolbyscat thanks x
@@majordolbyscathi have you got the full interview ready yet since it was taken down
He was great as The BFG.
David is just the bees neez

Why so? Please do expand on your thought process?
@@majordolbyscat it’s not for me to say. But I imagine it’ll all come out eventually.
I've heard the rumours, I hope they're not true
@@Antmonkey I’ve just found rumours. Oh my word.
@@1emmajones They are bullshit just like you trying to insinuating something like that.
