Just an addition: You can also use droidcam for android coz if your laptop mic has a problem , droidcam helps u take mic input of your phone's microphone
Great tip! Used Iriun through wifi for a 1.5 hour Zoom meeting yesterday connected to my Windows 10 desktop. Just 3 or 4 dropouts, a few seconds long each. The rest of the time there was no noticable lagging.
Tried installing it on my Windows 7 laptop afterwards, but my laptop couldn't find any phone.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people do is not start their channel cos they think everything is so expensive. You don't need to spend thousands to get started. You can literally start making videos with your smart phone and a decent mic and achieve some surprisingly good results. The biggest mistakes you can do is not start a channel!

oh, absolutely. going into starting a channel people always buy the expensive stuff and expect to have the best outcome from it, but the top end products they bought dont really guarantee that at all- the quality of the content does when it comes to viewership. connecting your phone and using it as a camera for your content definitely is the smarter and cheaper route for starting off, just to dip you toes into the water of it all. if things take off, then maybe consider buying more higher end products, but starting off small and working your way up is a way to go.
im planning on starting up some streams on my channel, but im not too sure if i'll stick with it or not. i thought i'd look into starting off small with a phone camera and seeing how that goes, and if i find myself enjoying it a lot more than i initially planned then maybe i'd invest into more higher quality stuff. for now, im starting off small.

Review: I just installed it (Epoccam). It's *_WAY_* better than my 1080p webcam, not even close. I think it's probably better than my Logitech Brio, too. The iPhone camera is obviously outstanding. One tip for readers, however, my older Mac laptop (maybe 4 years old) was acting up and not working right with it but my newer Mac (1-2 years old) worked flawlessly. But, it did take a couple of laptop and app restarts for the two devices to sync up and find each other the right way. That made me nervous but it's working fine now after a couple of tries. So, it can't hurt to try the free version to make sure it'll function right on whatever computer you use. Also, the free version image looks seriously low quality but the purchased version looks crisp. This is officially my new webcam.
Can you use this program to also film my screen on a MacBook Pro? Meaning that if I want to switch between filming myself in full and then Quickly switch to whatever I choose to show on my screen?

What about using Phone as low budged live streaming, i have seen many videos and there are many options but i would love to see what you can recommend. Basacally im trying to use phone as a camera on OBS.

Not sure which one i was using in this video but the Velbon EX-Mini tripods are good value
This is fantastic. Can this also be used to record videos from the iPhone? I'm using my iPhone now as a video recorder for You Tube - it works perfect, but it's also cumbersome. If I can view the video on the PC as I record, that would be a GREAT benefit.

Hi, Justin. Have you tried iVCam? I bought the pro version a while back. I guess Iriun is newer, and I was wondering how Iriun compares to iVCam. You said you've tried a bunch, so I thought maybe iVCam was one you had tried.

The problem with these apps and using the cable connection is that using the phone camera while charging the phone will kill your battery life slowly, but faster than usual :/

How do I connect the cellphone to the laptop? Is there a wire or the app on the laptop and cellphone speaks to each other?
Hey Justin, thanks for the reviews! I"ve been using Camo studio (paid subscription) and made a bunch of recordings just to realize when I actually started editing them that Camo doesn't deliver 30fps at all, in fact it assigned some shitty framerate to each video totally arbitrary (like 9,2542fps or 17,4971 maximum I got is around 19fps). Impossible to edit and the footage is useless, hundreds of hours of work wasted...I am SOOO pissed off!
Anyway, this is warning for whoever reads this and a question for you is do you know if either of the two options delivers the 30fps footage? I don't mind paying.
will this work with video podcast platforms like zencastr, squadcast, etc.?
Justin you started with OBS is this a 'nice to have or a have yo have'? I havent figured out how to get obs to work in zoom so getting confusing , good vid as always, i have irium ( quality fluctuates so i will try epoccam tks )
for android, droidcam is a possible alternative
for obs to work in zoom, you'll need to download the obs virtual webcam plugin

I have a Macbook and Android phone. I tried Iriun, and while the video quality was great, the audio was strange, and there were no controls besides my built in Mac sound. I decided to buy the pro version, thinking there would be a lot of cool settings to help with the audio issue. But alas, it pretty much had no extra settings except locking the color/saturation or whatever it was called. The settings in both the free and pro version were more than bare bones: ability to flip the screen, plus a wrench that had just a few settings, such as front/back camera and a few others. No green screen, no ability to change the resolution, etc. I requested a refund immediately and was able to get that, thank goodness. Would love to know if you can recommend anything else that would have far more controls. Thanks!

Any idea why Epocam with iPhone 12 Pro Max is giving black bars in OBS? Resolution is 1080 in source properties. It’s like it’s forcing 4:3 instead of 16:9.

The one thing all the webcam apps on Android I've tried are missing is a way to switch to a different lens on your phone, like for example use the Wide angle camera instead of the main. Still searching for this...

You teased me when you showed the zoom function on the app. I downloaded Iriun (again) to my Android to check it out. No zoom. I found that DroidCam provides a zoom function and that app works pretty reliably for me. Do you know of any other Android apps that enable zooming the screen (I have tried several!)? The regular 16x9 layout just shows too much extra stuff behind me. I have been using a 4x3 layout to crop out some of that extra space on the sides. As always, you provided a concise, informative, and very helpful video to your fans. Thank you!
You can zoom if your phone is plugged in, the issue that I'm having is that I'm trying to use it for streaming, and while there's little latency using it for zoom or communication app, trying to send it through OBS is rough.
Edit: sending it through StreamLabs OBS is rough, standart OBS is much better

I downloaded; however, getting no settings on my PC or phone? It does show they are connected yet that is it. Also, on my phone, it just kept running and never turned off so it was using all my power.

Thanks Ms. B! Haha that pesky mini-me 👍... NDI implies that it is like SDI, or even HDMI, but over the network. It lets you transmit video over a local network with high quality and low latency. Hope that helps!
